Problems of Architecture and Construction
This article discusses scrolls with images of geometrical ornaments preserved in museums of ethnography and history, as well as funds of Oriental studies institutes of the Academy of Sciences of the Republics of Central Asia. In addition, the article is devoted to the geometric analysis of ornaments and their compositional solutions.

Historical buildings are considered a source of architectural inspiration and a key determinant to maintain continuity with the past and preserve cities identity. Unfortunately. most of the historical buildings in Gaza city had been diminished from the fabric making the city as if it has no historical roots, not only because of the scarcity of its historical architecture but also because of its contemporary architecture which seems empty from cultural contents and meanings. In an effort to increase sustainability, reduce vehicular congestion, revitalize neighborhoods, and lower pollution from automobiles, Phoenix, Arizona launched the Valley Metro Light Rail system in December of 2008. The purpose of this investigation was to assess the environmental, social, and economic impacts as related to sustainability of the Valley Metro Light Rail system. In this qualitative case study of Phoenix sustainability and light rail policy subsystem, the researchers conducted semi-structured expert interviews with government officials and other policy-makers, non-government organizations, neighborhood and citizen associations, and other advisory bodies to understand and analyze the communities served by the light rail …

When considering the rehabilitation of historic buildings, we should not just think about how much energy we can save, but in addition, what sustainable measures could be implemented as to not destroy the cultural integrity/authenticity or the historic structure of the building. Therefore, performing rehabilitation measures on historic buildings is more complex than buildings that do not contain the same architectural importance or value. This research focuses on assessing the energy rating systems ('green building certification' programs) and discusses if those systems can address historic values and building preservation. Domus Commune: Modular Flexible Co-Housing In Rome, Sean Boud

This project was developed from the desire to create affordable housing in Rome, as well as address the issue of the large quantity of uninhabited buildings in the city. An abandoned hospital was used as the base to inform the design of a new building system, creating a multi-purpose living space sited on the outline of the original building. This living space is constructed within a three-dimensional steel grid which overlaps the exterior of the hospital and builds off of it as a way to respond to the architecture of Rome.
