The Lack Of Fire Safety Knowledge And Implementation The Case Of High-Rise Buildings, Mohamad Abou Chakra
Architecture and Planning Journal (APJ)
High-rise buildings are growing rapidly in number around the world. They are becoming important landmarks that mark out certain geographical areas. The fires of high-rise building have many characters not found in traditional low-rise buildings, like the variety of blazing factors, ways of fire spreading, and difficulty of evacuation. Hence, the protection features of conventional fire methods are not sufficient in designing towers. The paper, at first, summarizes the characteristics of high-rise buildings and fires, the unique features of Tall Buildings and the special life safety requirements for the high-rise buildings. Role Of Artificial Lighting In Emphasizing The Entrance Approaches, Maged Youssef
Architecture and Planning Journal (APJ)
Building's entrance is metaphorically a threshold between two realms, the first is an outdoor exposed to climatic change, hazards, and environmental factors, while the second is controlled, monitored, and determined to certain functions. It plays an important role in enriching users' experience. Moreover, it is the first impression a visitor takes to evaluate a whole building. Architecturally, the entrance is a very special part in the elevation, distinguished and emphasized by different design approaches. One of these approaches is using lighting. There is a direct connection between recognition of a space and light assimilation in it. From sunset to dawn, …

Language Change To Enhance Health And Well-Being:A Sociolinguistic Approach, Laila C.A. Helmi Associate Professor, Department Of English, Faculty Of Human Sciences
BAU Journal - Health and Wellbeing
There is no doubt that language change is strongly related to social change, and this is always associated with an essential change in the socio-cultural meaning adopted by the relevant speech-community. It is also a fact that a speechcommunity’s perception of a concept or a phenomenon depends largely on their linguistic encoding thereof, i.e. the lexicalization and/or grammaticalization of the concept. When a social institution, therefore, seeks to influence the community’s conception and behavior, it becomes essential to introduce relevant changes in the language used by the community. If such process does not follow adequate language planning policies and mechanisms, …
