Due to the critical reliance of office buildings on wide-glazed areas for providing daylight which increases heat gain, the kinetic façades (KF) have been innovated to improve buildings’ envelopes. This study proposed a parametric computational methodology to optimize building forms and the KF system of office buildings cooperatively. The computational methodology was implemented by using Rhinoceros software and consists of 4 phases. The main aim is to improve the annual energy consumption, average daylight factor, and payback period, and the results concluded a significant improvement after applying the KF system by 1050.3 kWh/m2, 17.34%, and 6.8 years, respectively. The current investigation aims to study the stress and strain concentration factors (Kσ and Kε) around a central elliptical hole in a rectangular plate under uniaxial and biaxial loads. Finite element and response surface methods (FEM and RSM) were used to predict the values of Kσ and Kε in isotropic and orthotropic material rectangular plates. Thus, the finite element models were built using ANSYS commercial FEM software to obtain the values of Kσ and Kε for some designed cases. A full water hammer model is developed and coded in the Mathcad software environment. The developed model constitutes a general platform for studying the water hammer transient incorporating the most legitimate parameters that affect the phenomenon. In this study, we focused on policies to promote reduction in the use of private vehicles that could be implemented in Bangkok during periods of severe PM2.5 levels, including a flat charge for use of private cars, private vehicle bans, and public transport fare subsidization. In the field of residential real estate development, understanding customer perception contributes to project success. This quantitative research studied customer perception towards common area elements in housing projects by applying the Analytical Kano (A-Kano) Model. Information was collected from a questionnaire survey of 150 buyers of detached and semi-detached houses in housing projects situated in metropolitan Bangkok who purchased their properties within five years. The study considers the Dawei Special Economic Zone (DSEZ) project, which was a land formalization case in a sovereignty-contested area conducted by de jure Myanmar state, de facto Karen Nation Union (KNU), and an international developer. The impact of the general layout of commercial streets and their orientation relative to prevailing wind direction on urban comfort due to natural ventilation is unknown. To study the natural airflow pattern in the commercial street mall, this research investigates the impact of different building layouts on airflow characteristics. To do this we conduct a parametric CFD simulation for 12 simulation cases, in which the commercial street layout changes to include secondary streets in four different cases. Indoor environmental quality (IEQ) has become an important component of building design because people tend to spend the majority of their time indoors. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the occupants’ overall perceived Quality of Life (QoL) experience in two green and two non-green office buildings. All four buildings are situated in Klang Valley, Malaysia, and they are open-plan office buildings. 162 questionnaires were administered to assess the relationship between individuals' perceived QoL and IEQ factors. This research investigates practical methods to improve the efficiency of natural ventilation in residential units of multi-family high-rises without additional areas. Typical studio- and one-bedroom-types of small units were redesigned using: 1) air post, 2) transom window, 3) buffer space with one corridor opening and 4) buffer space with two corridor openings. The simulation study using a CFD program to reveal that the indoor average air velocity coefficient (Cv ) in the best redesigned case (0.46) significantly improves from the base case (0.01). Building Information Modeling (BIM) is now a widely accepted tool in the construction industry for designing and managing construction projects. However, converting a BIM model from one type of structure to another can be challenging. This case report aims to document the problems and challenges encountered when an engineer team attempted to create a precast concrete structural BIM model from an architectural BIM model that was initially designed to use a post and lintel system. Safety, facilities, and environment are known to be among the core factors that influence the Quality of Life (QoL) of neighbourhood communities. This study evaluates the low-income residents’ (B40) QoL and seeks to clarify whether People’s Housing Program Environment (PPRE) and Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED) can be used collaboratively to improve the QoL of the People’s Housing Project (PPR) communities.
