This phase II trial aims to determine the efficacy and safety of frontline acalabrutinib, lenalidomide and rituximab for patients with advanced stage follicular lymphoma (FL) and high tumor burden. The primary endpoint was best complete response (CR) rate; the secondary endpoints were overall response rate (ORR), duration of response measured as CR at 30 months (CR30), progression of disease at 24 months (POD24) rate, progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival and safety. Background: Although immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are efficacious, they often cause immune-related adverse events (irAEs), most commonly cutaneous irAEs (CirAEs). The mechanisms underlying CirAEs remain unclear.

Methods: Attempting to better understand their mechanisms and histology we conducted a prospective study of 15 patients with advanced cancers treated with ICIs who developed grade 2 or higher CirAEs. Clinical and histologic characterization of biopsy specimens of CirAEs was performed. Histologic analysis of patient biopsy specimens were subdivided by epidermal reaction patterns that included spongiotic, lichenoid, and interface dermatitis patterns. Dynein cytoplasmic 1 light intermediate chain 1 (LIC1, DYNC1LI1) is a core subunit of the dynein motor complex that plays a critical role in cytoplasmic cargo trafficking, including Rab-mediated endosomal recycling and lysosomal degradation. LIC1 interacts with various cargo adaptors, such as RILPL1 and RILPL2, to regulate these processes, and defects in this gene are predicted to impair dynein motor function, Rab binding, and lysosomal trafficking. Here, we identified a dync1li1 zebrafish mutant with a premature stop codon at the exon 12/13 splice acceptor site, that exhibits increased angiogenesis. Background For people who have anal and/or oral sex, many programs recommend genital and extragenital (defined here as anorectal and oropharyngeal) screening for Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) and Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG) to identify all potential sites of infection. Methods We assessed genital and extragenital CT and NG prevalence among people reporting extragenital sexual exposure. Results Among 343 gay and bisexual men who reported sex with men (GBMSM), 42 (12.2%) had CT with positivity of 3.5%, 9.3% and 1.8% in the genital, anal, and oral samples, respectively. Restoration of longleaf pine (Pinus palustris Mill.) can be challenging on sites with high densities of naturally regenerated loblolly pine (Pinus taeda L.). This study aims to understand how interspecific competition impacts early establishment of planted longleaf pine. The study area was a complete block design to evaluate two different fertilization methods and application of diazotrophic endophytes. While the site was chemically prepared, high densities of loblolly pine established from adjacent stands. Measurements included survival, root collar diameter, height, and neighboring competition. A central goal in contemporary clinical science is to measure emotionally driven factors of psychopathology through cognitive experimental methods. However, limitations in previous experimental paradigms have led to a lack of sensitivity and reliability in measuring the biased processing of positive and negative information. Additionally, these biases have not been investigated in individuals who fear happiness. Therefore, this study examined the unique relations between attention and memory biases of emotional stimuli and fear of happiness scores. Drought and heat stresses during vegetative and reproductive stages cause yield losses up to 50% in soybeans. Biostimulants have potential to improve stress tolerance and enhance crop resilience, but selecting an effective product remains challenging due to the wide range of commercial options. This study aimed to identify suitable biostimulants that alleviate drought and heat stress during vegetative and reproductive stages. There was 64% and 76% reduction in stomatal conductance under vegetative and reproductive stage drought stress, respectively. This study provides descriptive statistics for the universe of SNAP-authorized food retailers in the United States between 1996 and 2023 including the number of SNAP-authorized retailers over time as well as the frequency and duration of temporary lapses in SNAP authorization for the average retailer. Results are presented at different geographic levels, by urbanicity, by store type, and by dollar versus non-dollar stores. Background: Fournier gangrene (FG) is a necrotizing soft tissue infection (NSTI) of the perineum. Recent retrospective studies from quaternary centers suggest improved outcomes and a potentially less aggressive clinical course for FG than non-perineal NSTIs. However, comprehensive nationwide data remain limited. Methods: This retrospective cohort study analyzed the National Inpatient Sample (2016-2020) to compare outcomes between FG and non-perineal NSTIs. Adult patients undergoing surgical debridement with a diagnosis of FG or NSTI were identified using ICD-10 codes. Dusty plasma, also known as Complex plasma, are ionized gases containing nanometers – to – micrometers sized particles (often referred as dust). The dust particles instantaneously get negatively charged due to high-mobile electrons present in the background plasma. These charged dust particles confined in a planar (two-dimensional) geometry interact through long-range forces (screened-Coulomb) exhibiting strongly coupled behavior, analogous to those in condensed matter and real 2D materials. Drawing on evidence from a case study demonstrating significant improvements in student behavior and overall satisfaction through ASPECTSS-based interventions, the thesis highlights the urgent need for these principles to move beyond voluntary adoption and rather, toward enforceable design mandates.

This thesis examines how the concept of social death, as theorized by Orlando Patterson and expanded by Frank B. Wilderson III and Christina Sharpe, can serve as a transformative foundation for culturally informed care practices within academic institutions. Arguing that traditional equity efforts and even critical race interventions often fall short by focusing on reform within inherently anti-Black systems, I propose a new framework: Radical Replanting Praxis. Fibropapillomatosis, a disease affecting green sea turtles (Chelonia mydas), has been documented in many regions of the world, including the Caribbean, but has not been scientifically reported in Curaçao until now. The present study utilized VHF telemetry in Caracas Bay, Curaçao, to track green sea turtles, both healthy and affected by fibropapillomatosis, with the objective of ascertaining their foraging locations. BACKGROUND: People with epilepsy (PWE) may experience seizure clusters, broadly defined as ≥2 seizures that occur in close proximity. In epilepsy monitoring units (EMUs), seizure clusters can spontaneously occur during long-term videoelectroencephalogram monitoring (LTVEM) or as a result of antiseizure medication dose adjustments. In this survey, we examined the experiences and practices of expert clinicians with seizure clusters in EMUs.

METHODS: A 55-item survey was sent to members of an Epilepsy Education Council who are epilepsy experts. Items described experiences, treatment practices, and negative outcomes with seizure clusters in EMUs.

Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is characterized by degeneration of spinal motor neurons and is a leading genetic cause of pediatric death worldwide. SMA results from the loss of or pathological variant in the survival motor neuron 1 (SMN1) gene. Disease severity is dependent on the number of copies of the orthologous SMN2 gene, which is nearly identical to SMN1 except for some key nucleotide differences. As disease severity is inversely related to SMN2 copy number, most SMA therapeutics trials have focused on identifying ways to increase SMN2 expression at different levels of gene regulation. Medical cannabis (MC) is increasingly used as a treatment for chronic musculoskeletal pain, but there is limited data on factors influencing its discontinuation. This study aims to investigate the rates of MC discontinuation and explore factors influencing it in patients with chronic musculoskeletal pain. A retrospective analysis was conducted on 78 patients certified for medical cannabis over a 2 year period. Patient demographics, pain origin, and Global Physical Health (GPH) and Global Mental Health (GMH) scores were collected before intervention. Rapid development of memristive elements emulating biological neurons creates new opportunities for brain-like computation at low energy consumption. A first step toward mimicking complex neural computations is the analysis of single neurons and their characteristics. Here we measure and model spiking activity in artificial neurons built using diffusive memristors. We compare activity of these artificial neurons with the spiking activity of biological neurons measured in sensory, pre-motor, and motor cortical areas of the monkey (male) brain. Machismo is a set of cultural values tethered to the gender binary, defined by the specific gender roles and expectations that men have to act upon. These ideals create a male archetype based on aggression, stoicism, superiority, and the enabling of sexist attitudes. This chapter explores how immersion and participation are experienced and conjured through augmented reality (AR) technologies through the case study of the located and augmented reality-enabled performance Nobody’s Ocean. In the performance, audiences navigated the story-world of Homer’s The Odyssey augmented in the streets of Melbourne, Australia, through audio, visual and social media content facilitated by their smartphone. The chapter examines three relationships that distinguish immersion in AR-enabled performance: that between seamlessness and disruption, between place and narrative and between avatars and a sense of located embodiment. Background: Urinary antigen detection (UAD) assays can address diagnostic challenges with culture-based identification of S. pneumoniae. We aimed to evaluate the utility of Pfizer's UAD1 and UAD2 assays for pneumococcal serotype surveillance in children with community acquired pneumonia (CAP) or upper respiratory tract infections (URI).

Methods: From March 2021-December 2023, children 3 months to 5 years who presented to the Children's Hospital Colorado Emergency Department with respiratory symptoms were enrolled as CAP or URI; healthy children served as controls. Context: Transitions in metabolic health status over time are strongly linked to risk for cardiovascular events, particularly among individuals with obesity. Adipokines are proteins with metabolic effects, but their role in transitions in metabolic health status over time is unknown.

Objective: To evaluate the associations of adiponectin and leptin with metabolic risk transitions over time.

Methods: Among 8423 individuals who attended ARIC Visits 2 (1990-1992) and 4 (1996-1998), we evaluated prospective associations of Visit 2 levels of the adipokines adiponectin and leptin (per 1-SD higher) with 6-year transitions in metabolic health. Görtler vortices are counterrotating flow structures generated as a result of the imbalance between the wall radial pressure gradients and the centrifugal forces in a boundary layer developing on a curved surface. Their presence leads to secondary instabilities and increases the wall shear stress as they accelerate the transition from laminar to turbulent flow. These secondary instabilities can be mitigated using control techniques aimed at decreasing the energy and the wall shear stress.
