Biological warfare, which is the deliberate release of infectious toxins or organisms that cause diseases, has historically been a major issue that the international community has strived to resolve. By analyzing peer-reviewed journals and pre-modern documents, this research project challenges the effectiveness of pre-established policies and collaborative efforts to prevent the development and usage of biological warfare. The modern perception of biological warfare is misinterpreted because it has adapted different connotations compared to its origins. Medical Disinformation: Niche-Market Targeting In The Black Press During The Aids Epidemic, Sydney Pottinger

This paper analyzes the distribution of information about AIDS by the Black press from 1983 to 1990. The information in articles published by Amsterdam News, a historically black newspaper, evolves as experts release accurate AIDS information during the same period. The conspiracy theories and false claims attributing AIDS to other populations shown in earlier Amsterdam News publications are corrected over time by helpful, truthful information released by doctors, as shown in later articles. My analysis of this trend relies on theories of niche-market targeting and definitions of mis- and disinformation to create a historical case study of the relationship between …

My research uncovers the use of euphemism by the Chinese government to spread false narratives and deny allegations of human rights abuses and genocidal acts against the Uyghur ethnic minority. Euphemistic names for policies like "vocational training centers" and "poverty alleviation" are rooted in information campaigns that deceitfully frame Chinese actions as positive and beneficent. Likewise, the Chinese government labels Uyghurs as terrorists, harmfully and falsely characterizing an entire ethnicity as criminal. AbstractPeer mediation (PM) programs implemented in schools promote resolution of disputes and conflicts among peers. Several benefits have been associated with young children involved in these programs including reductions in physical aggression, as well as learning skills involving communication, problem solving, and decision making. While positive outcomes have been observed, less was known about manager experiences involving coordinating PM programs. The purpose of this phenomenological study was to explore manager thoughts and experiences regarding their roles in PM programs and how they perceived strengths and weaknesses of these programs. Moral injury (MI) can emerge following transgressive acts against one’s deeply held moral beliefs. Its symptomology involves individual psychological, spiritual, behavioral, and social spheres. It has primarily been studied within the military and in a few select civilian populations. This descriptive phenomenological study involved exploring MI themes among adults with alcohol use disorder (AUD) who had engaged in criminally reckless acts. Data collected from semi-structured interviews with eight participants were coded and analyzed, leading to six major themes revealing the symptomology of MI. Responses from study participants supported Festinger’s theory of cognitive dissonance via their descriptions of alcohol abuse cycles …

This thesis paper discussed the ways to understand the relationship between mental health and spiritual warfare for people who are providing pastoral care ministry. It analyzes three biblical characters who may have appeared to have suffered from mental health symptoms and explores the latest literature on spiritual warfare and its connection to mental health. The literature explored various thoughts from a psychological perspective of those in pastoral care roles. Advanced air mobility (AAM), of which urban air mobility (UAM) is a subset, signifies an exciting and advanced mode of air transportation that combines novel aircraft configurations with progressive levels of automation to offer convenient and efficient modes of air transportation (Mitchell et al., 2021). The Janissaries of the Ottoman Empire were a group of Christian slave soldiers. They had political and social control in the imperial court and were also formidable soldiers who were successful in battle due to their highly organized structure. They were subjects of many travel journals, memoirs, accounts, and works of art that originated both inside and outside the Ottoman Empire. Florida’s Stop the Wrongs to Our Kids and Employees Act (Stop WOKE) took effect July 1, 2022. The new law, known as House Bill 7 (HB 7), regulates how race issues can be taught in the K-20 educational system and imposes stiff sanctions for violations. This Article provides an incisive analysis of HB 7, with a particular focus on the law school classroom. It begins with a discussion of anti-literacy laws adopted during slavery and how these laws prohibited enslaved Blacks from learning to read and write. It has often been revealed, in the great historical upheavals of contemporary history, that a quick, situational ad-hoc assessment and reaction is not the strength of German Protestantism. This was the case after the collapse of Imperial Germany (Kaiserreich) and the sovereign church regiment (Landesherrliches Kirchenregiment; summus episcopus) in 1918, as well as after the end of the Second World War, when German Protestantism was long at odds with democracy and Adenauer's ties to the West.4 The Peaceful Revolution in the GDR in 1989 (during the civic uprisings of 1989/90 in the other Central European countries) also surprised the leaders …

In this dissertation, we investigated a multi-target tracking filter, specifically the Probability Hypothesis Density (PHD) filter, for tracking non-homogeneous targets with varying characteristics. In traditional tracking systems, targets are assumed to have fixed characteristics with constant sensor detection rates. However, targets like cyanobacterial blooms exhibit different sizes and shapes at each tracking step, introducing additional uncertainty for the tracking system.

The study considers the Dawei Special Economic Zone (DSEZ) project, which was a land formalization case in a sovereignty-contested area conducted by de jure Myanmar state, de facto Karen Nation Union (KNU), and an international developer. The DSEZ project planning comprised deep-sea Ports, 250 sq. kms of industrial estate zone, and the two-lane 148 km road linking Dawei in Myanmar and Kanchanaburi Province of Thailand as its main features. This paper will analyze the impacts of geographical proximity to war on equity returns across sectors. Understanding the impacts of war on different sectors is crucial for portfolio management, and increased awareness about this topic can lead to better investment decisions. By using standard econometric techniques to capture the effects of distance on equity returns for different sectors, we find that in the case of the war in Ukraine, geographical proximity to conflict has the largest impact on the healthcare and technology sectors. We observe that across all countries, the healthcare sector performed 0.215 times worse, and the technology sector …
