Deep learning has been applied to underwater acoustics problems in many forms. One difficulty in applying deep learning techniques to ocean acoustics is the spatially and temporally varying environmental properties. Another challenge is the lack of labeled data for training large networks. The overall goal of this work is to develop deep learning approaches for source localization that can be adaptable to different conditions. In this work, a convolutional neural network was trained on acoustic data measured in a water tank, while the water was at room temperature, to predict source-receiver range. In this Article, we argue that Bruen's intended methodological shift has been widely misunderstood by the bench and bar. This has led to confusion and misapplication in the lower courts, as well as much scholarly criticism of the test that is, we think, misdirected. As we will explain, Bruen calls for a form of legal originalism, applying a classical view of fundamental rights as a form of unwritten customary law. The purpose of this article is to critically examine the story of the number 41 as a queer signifier in Mexican culture from a decolonial perspective, taking into account archival records in the development of hegemonic masculinity in the 20th century. An examination of hegemonic masculinity and homophobia of early 20th century Mexico is provided by reviewing colonial accounts of indigenous sexuality, as well as uncovering the hidden stories of the corrido/ballad of El Baile de los 41 Maricones. Organophosphates (OPs) were initially designed as insecticides and later engineered as dangerous nerve agents that threaten our livelihood and safety. One of the treatments for OP exposure is the administration of an oxime to reactivate inhibited acetylcholinesterase (AChE). The currently approved oxime therapy in the US, pralidoxime (2-PAM), is unable to reactivate inhibited AChE in the brain due to its low ability to cross the blood-brain barrier (BBB) which has led our laboratory to develop novel substituted phenoxyalkyl pyridinium oximes (US Patent 9,227,937) that penetrate the BBB more effectively. IgA nephropathy (IgAN) is considered the most common primary glomerulonephritis worldwide with a predilection for Asian-Pacific populations and relative rarity in those of African descent. Perhaps 20%–50% of patients progress to kidney failure. The pathogenesis is incompletely understood. Mesangial deposition of immune complexes containing galactose-deficient IgA1 complexed with anti-glycan IgG or IgA antibodies results in mesangial cell activation and proliferation, inflammatory cell recruitment, complement activation, and podocyte damage. Diagnosis requires a biopsy interpreted by the Oxford criteria. Additional pathologic features include podocytopathy, thrombotic microangiopathy, and C4d staining. Biomarkers predicting adverse outcomes include proteinuria, reduced GFR, hypertension, and pathology. Acceptable surrogate …

A growing body of research indicates various mental and behavioral health problems are associated with combat-related experiences and witnessing the atrocities of war. Emerging research demonstrates the importance of identifying resilient traits in individuals that lessen the degree to which they develop symptoms associated with moral injury. The current study examined the relationship between moral injury, shame, and guilt outcomes. It also examined the potential moderating role self-compassion may have in these relationships. Participants were 139 military veterans and service members who completed an online questionnaire. The thesis demonstrates and explains the complex relationship between the Soviet Union and the People’s Republic of China (PRC) from the late 1940s to 1969. The period of the Sino-Soviet relationship was marked by initial military and economic cooperation followed by increasing ideological divergence and political and diplomatic tensions. The paper briefly introduces the historiography of the Sino-Soviet relationship. The thesis starts with the establishment of the PRC in 1949 and the subsequent alliance with the USSR, rooted in shared communist ideologies and mutual strategic goals. China is exploiting "The Gap" by conducting provocative Gray Zone operations to challenge its neighbors' sovereignty and sovereign rights, as well as their navigational rights and freedoms, in waters off their coast in the East China Sea, Taiwan Strait, and South China Sea. By engaging in malign activities that fall below the threshold of an "armed attack," China anticipates it can incrementally advance its interests without eliciting a military response from the targeted States. Ross (NPPC) held that California’s Proposition 12—which forbids the sale of pork in the state derived from pigs born of sows confined “in a cruel manner”—does not violate the dormant Commerce Clause. Specifically, the Court held that the law neither regulates “extraterritorially” (despite the fact that nearly all the pork sold in California is produced in other states) nor imposes an undue burden on interstate commerce. The principal LaCE experiment is two 6U CubeSats, LaCE 1 and LaCE 2, which were launched to a shared sun-synchronous Low Earth Orbit (LEO) on March 4, 2024. LaCE was originally conceived in 2015 as an integration effort for a series of Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) proposals. Communications with a low earth orbit (LEO) satellite require tracking and correcting both the Doppler frequency offset and the symbol rate. A constant envelope signal such as Continuous Phase Frequency Shift Keying (CPFSK) is a popular choice for driving a power amplifier close to its 1 dB compression point. Establishing a changing modulation index (“multi-h”) in the CPFSK signal produces coding gain, which requires a Viterbi decoder in the receiver.
