"The General Court of Virginia began with the reorganization of the government of the colony of Virginia in 1619. The court was established not for any political motives to control, or for any financial motives to collect lucrative fines, but it was a part of the tradition of good government. Private disputes are better settled in official courts of law rather than by self-help and vendetta. Therefore, access to the courts is good public policy.

Our nation’s infrastructure is under an emerging new threat: ransomware attacks. These attacks can cause anything from individual laptops, to entire cities to shut down for a period of time until the victim pays a ransom to the attacker. Unfortunately, these attacks are on the rise and the attackers have a new target: hospitals. Ransomware attacks on hospitals can temporarily shut down operating room technology and limit physician access to patient files, ultimately threatening the safety of hospital patients and the surrounding community. • Support government and national mine action entities with managing, regulating, and coordinating a mine action response through Technical Support (TS) initiatives;
• Deliver Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) at the community and national level; and
• Provide Explosive Hazard Management (EHM) response in support of humanitarian and stabilization efforts.

Due to the nature of threats posed by EO, UNMAS and its implementing partners are among the first responders allowing the humanitarian community and local authorities to intervene quickly and efficiently to help civilians.

[Purpose/significance]The thesis reviews the evolution of the intelligence analytic methodology and illuminates its development path，which aims at providing reference for the improvement in intelligence analysis.[Method/process]Through the elaboration of methodological evolution，the thesis proceeds to distinguish the national security intelligence analysis from the information analysis，summing up the influence of the analytic methodology on analysis.[Result/conclusion]Intelligence analysis is far more complex than conventional information analysis，while the latter is unable to cope with the intricate issues in national security intellgience analysis.Therefore，new analytic methodology should be constructed on the basis of falsificationism and cognitive psychology.

Technological advances have led to the prevalence of small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) which has proven to be a security concern for fixed facilities to include prisons, airports, and forward operating bases. This study explores if agent-based simulation modeling can serve as a useful tool for developing counter unmanned aerial system (C-UAS) parameters for a fixed facility. The relationship between threat speed and a hypothetical C-UAS is explored in an AnyLogic model designed to represent a prison and general sUAS smuggling threats that prisons have experienced in recent years. This study is to examine why Thai people want to do flexible job by studying GrabFood as case study. Data in the study was collected from online survey which were directly responded by GrabFood workers and I use binary logistic to estimate results. The result found that preference for flexibility is the key factor workers are likely to do freelance. This thesis investigates Iraqi women’s history since 1990. It argues that, in the past three decades, Iraqi women have not been silent victims of US imperialism, the repression of the Iraqi state, or ISIL’s extremism. Instead, they have resisted these forms of violence with visible agency, deploying tools of economic survival, political activism, creative writing, and armed resistance. Iraqi society underwent dramatic changes in the 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s, and in each decade Iraqi women faced violence specific to that period. This thesis relies primarily on German soldiers’ diaries, letters, and post-war memoirs in order to present an detailed narrative from those soldiers. The selected soldiers all came from West Germany and Austria. Through scrutiny of their voices as case studies, this thesis argues that in their writings in different time periods during and after the war, German soldiers struggled not just to physically survive the war, but also to morally justify their roles in the war. Exploratory in nature, this thesis investigated whether dishonor can be categorized as traumatic. With a foundation of existing research in trauma and honor, primary source analyses were conducted on classical texts, and a psychological study was conducted with participants living in the United States. The main primary source analyses were based on case studies, centering on Achilles, an ancient Greek hero, and Dido, an ancient Roman queen, who both experienced severe dishonor. Specifically, the narratives of Achilles and Queen Dido served as portrayals of dishonor in the form of a male hero who has his honor seized, and a woman …

The effects of long term exposure to a sea-floor depth ocean environment on the mechanical behavior of carbon-fiber / epoxy (CFE) laminated composites were investigated experimentally. A novel high pressure accelerated aging facility was designed and fabricated for the express purpose of performing accelerated life testing. This facility utilized an elastomeric diaphragm capable of transferring hydraulic oil pressure to a saline water filled volume in order to create a simulation of a deep ocean environment, to which specimens were exposed at elevated temperatures in order to accelerate the rate of water ingression from real world time scales of years to …

Francisella tularensis is a Gram-negative, facultative intracellular bacterial pathogen and the causative agent of the potentially fatal human disease tularemia (Sjöstedt, 2007). Like many pathogens, F. tularensis contains a number of proteins encoded by a variety of genes that are critical to its ability to cause disease including virulence factors and anti-virulence factors. F. tularensis encodes an anti-virulence factor called PriM that inhibits replication inside macrophage, one of its key host cell types. Edward Said’s 1987 examination of Orientalism suggests that fields of learning are constrained and acted upon by society, cultural traditions, worldly circumstance, and by stabilizing influences. According to Said these fields of learning work to sustain Western notions of superiority and designate what became considered backwards, degenerate, and uncivilized: the Oriental. Extensive research has shown that adherence to procedural-justice principles leads to a greater sense of an authority’s legitimacy. In courts, adherence to procedural-justice principles leads to greater compliance with court orders, greater cooperation with courts, and higher overall approval for the court system. This Article applies the lessons of procedural justice to the appellate courts.

The Article first reviews public-opinion data about the courts, finding that a generally diminished trust in institutions includes the courts. The Article then reviews the research showing that the application of procedural-justice principles leads to a greater sense of court legitimacy. From that basis, the …

Lopez Island, Washington has been the subject of archaeological study for over a century. Through an evolutionary archaeology framework, this thesis uses a functional analysis of recorded precontact sites on Lopez Island to determine how previous sampling and research strategies have influenced what is known about the island’s archaeology. Knowing what is currently known about the island’s archaeology shows how recorded sites can be further investigated to address regional Salish Sea research questions. I developed and applied a paradigmatic classification to 54 sampled sites from the Washington DAHP’s WISAARD database by their level of previous research, microenvironment, and archaeology. This …

This study looked at the relationship between violent video game (VVG) play and aggressive tendencies. Participants were required to be at least 18 years of age or older and were recruited through flyers in the Library and Academic Resource Center and Young Hall on the Lindenwood University campus, as well as through the Lindenwood Participant Pool. Participants took a pretest on Qualtrics measuring aggressive tendencies and after the pretest, participants were systematically chosen to either play Grand Theft Auto V (GTAV); (Rockstar Games, 2014) or Stardew Valley (Barone & Sickhead Games, 2016). The need for proper management of bilgewater to meet discharge regulations (e.g., 15 ppm oil) has revealed the necessity to expand the current understanding of bilgewater emulsions. This study proposed to evaluate emulsion stability under various environmental conditions and to identify governing parameters for emulsion formation. The stabilizing properties of eight-commercial cleaners and two-neat surfactants were evaluated. In situ characterization techniques were used for monitoring emulsion stability. Additionally, a needle-type pH microsensor and fluorescence spectroscopy were used for analyzing mass transfer at the oil-water interface. Water quality of extracted bilgewater showed to highly vary between vessels (e.g., conductivity: 1.74 -- …
