The research tools consist of an electronic counselling …

Helena Pimenta Y La Creación De Una Poética Posmoderna Entorno A Los Clásicos, Esther Fernández
Helena Pimenta Y La Creación De Una Poética Posmoderna Entorno A Los Clásicos, Esther Fernández
Teatro: Revista de Estudios Escénicos / A Journal of Theater Studies

No Peeking: Addressing Pretextual Inspection Demands By Competitor-Affiliated Shareholders, Lin (Lynn) Bai, Sean Meyer
Faculty Articles and Other Publications
This article exposes how Delaware private companies are vulnerable to pretextual inspections under the guise of valuation by shareholders who are affiliated with competitors of the companies. The Delaware Court of Chancery’s 2020 decision in Woods v. Sahara Enterprises, Inc., which deviated from established law by switching the initial burden of proof of the shareholder’s motive to the target company, exacerbated this vulnerability. This article argues for reversing that decision and proposes changes in multiple areas of law to help companies fend off prying competitors who abuse statutory shareholder inspection rights for unfair advantages in competition.

Techne 2022-2023, Elena M’Bouroukounda, Jieun Yang
TECHNE
In this relaunch of TECHNE, the editorial team sought to reset and reflect on the department’s trajectory and achievements through coursework from the 2022-2023 academic year. The publication also includes snippets of student life outside the classroom, including study abroad, student-run events, mentorships and pre-internships, and other department-wide organized events. This book is an archive of architectural stories, ideas, and experiments. We hope that TECHNE continues to capture the work of current students and recent graduates with the immediacy to meet the challenges and architectural discourse of the moment.

Smokable "Vine Of The Dead": Two Case Studies Of Experiencers Of Both Changa And Near-Death Experiences, Pascal Michael, David Luke, Oliver Robinson
International Journal of Transpersonal Studies Advance Publication Archive
Introduction: Virtually no studies have looked at psychopharmacological combinations as models of the near-death experience (NDE), which is inadequate given the evidently complex neurochemistry occurring near- or at death. An example of such a combination is ‘changa’, a smoked mixture of the psychedelic N,N-DMT and monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI)-containing plants, and as such has been referred to as ‘smokable ayahuasca’ (vine of the dead). Only very few studies, yet not systematically, have included experiencers of both NDEs and psychoactive substances. Methods: Two case studies are presented of individuals who have experienced both a near-death experience and a changa experience, making …

Avatar - Identity With Intent, John O'Connor, James Neville
Avatar - Identity With Intent, John O'Connor, James Neville
Conference Papers
We don’t often think of identity as a choice, but rather something we are born into by circumstance of birth and inheritance. This paper addresses identity by assertion. Virtual worlds afford the opportunity for a more fluid concept of self: identity with intent. Understanding this approach can empower our actions and results in the virtual and natural worlds. The authors draw on fifteen years teaching this topic in the virtual world of Second Life as part of a class on collaborative online engagement. The term avatar, representing the concrete embodiment of something abstract, originated in Hinduism in the 6th century …
Autoportrait D’Un Auteur En Exil : Une Magie Ordinaire De Kossi Efoui, Morgan Faulkner
Autoportrait D’Un Auteur En Exil : Une Magie Ordinaire De Kossi Efoui, Morgan Faulkner
Présence Francophone: Revue internationale de langue et de littérature
Kossi Efoui’s sixth novel, Une magie ordinaire, constitutes his intellectual autobiography in that it follows the reconstruction of an “intellectual development” (Paul Ricoeur, 1995) by retracing his own trajectory as a writer in exile, born and raised in a dictatorship, forced to live the last days of his mother’s life away from her. This study explores the role played by private life, history, and literature in the reconstruction of the writer’s trajectory that unfolds in this novel. How do these three themes, and the discourses that accompany them, interact with each other to build the self portrait of an …
L’Autobiographie Intellectuelle De V. Y. Mudimbe Et Les Enjeux De La Différence, Justin Bisanswa
L’Autobiographie Intellectuelle De V. Y. Mudimbe Et Les Enjeux De La Différence, Justin Bisanswa
Présence Francophone: Revue internationale de langue et de littérature
Based on Les corps glorieux des mots et des êtres. Esquisse d’un jardin africain à la bénédictine, this text would like to analyze, at the confluence of sociology and rhetoric, the modalities (with their variations and their extensions) by which V. Y. Mudimbe broadens intellectual autobiography to other modes of writing and functions as a dialogic space between poetry and prose, experience and fantasy, reality and imagination. Retracing his pathway, Mudimbe makes his text a journey within oneself, a quest for the “absolute elsewhere” or a quest for the total Self. A feeling of lack emerges which explains this …
In this study of autobiography by French-speaking writers, we propose to construct a syntax for the genre, after recalling the great difficulty of tackling such a vast subject for so long. From then on, any study of autobiography implies confronting it with other related forms, such as essays, memoirs, autofiction, testimonies or diaries, all characterised by the assumed subjectivity of the “I” narrator, who recounts a life journey as well as a personal reflection on world events. The general idea defended here is that the grammar of intellectual autobiography presents itself as a narrative posture that needs to be thought …
Creditors Have Standing To Bring Derivative Actions Against Delaware Llcs In Bankruptcy, John D. Hayes Jr.
Creditors Have Standing To Bring Derivative Actions Against Delaware Llcs In Bankruptcy, John D. Hayes Jr.
Bankruptcy Research Library
(Excerpt)
Delaware limited liability companies ("LLCs") are "creatures of contract" and their corporate structure may vary to resemble corporations, partnerships, or a mix of both. Managers of LLCs—like a director or officer of a corporation—owe fiduciary duties to the entity and its members. Generally, the entity has standing to pursue breach of fiduciary duty claims. It is well established that creditors of a corporate debtor may have standing to pursue breach of fiduciary duty claims against directors through derivative actions. Under Delaware law, the applicable statute does not confer standing for creditors of Delaware LLCs to bring derivative actions on …

The Western fascination with geisha began with the travels of Sadayakko (1871–1946) and Hanako (Ōhta Hisa, 1868–1945), the first geisha to perform overseas in the United States and Europe. Hanako’s captivating face inspired Auguste Rodin (1840–1917) to sculpt her numerous times, making her the only Asian he ever depicted. To Rodin, she symbolized Asian beauty and mystery, leading to her Orientalization. Early photographs of Japanese individuals sent to the West, often featuring geisha and kabuki actors, further fueled Western interest in geisha.
The West’s initial encounters with geisha were not part of the Meiji government’s official narrative. Sadayakko, often overlooked …
