Caliban Discourse From Shakespeare To Java's Baron Sekeber, Paulus Sarwoto Dec 2024

Caliban Discourse From Shakespeare To Java's Baron Sekeber, Paulus Sarwoto

Kritika Kultura

Caliban discourse, marked with the arrival of a white man on a non-European island, is also found in the Javanese babad or semi-historical narrative of Serat Babad Pati (1925), a rewriting of the older text Serat Baron Sakendher (1600s). Both texts depict the arrival of European aristocrats on a foreign island. If Prospero in The Tempest (1610) is an exiled Italian duke, Baron Sekeber in Serat Babad Pati is a Dutch aristocrat traveling to Java to conquer the Mataram kingdom. Considering the possibility that both texts were produced in the same time period, at the beginning of both English and …

Framing Motions: Thoughts On Proximity & Recorded Motions, With A Demonstration Using Moving Image Choreographic Documents, Jodi Kearns, Brian C. O'Connor Dec 2024

Framing Motions: Thoughts On Proximity & Recorded Motions, With A Demonstration Using Moving Image Choreographic Documents, Jodi Kearns, Brian C. O'Connor

Proceedings from the Document Academy

A demonstration of a multifaceted documentation method for combining captured frames of dance motions, a vetted dance notation language set as closed captions, and guiding choreographer notes into a fixed form sufficiently descriptive, creative, and suitable for representing dance in a form that upgrades how legislators think about choreographic works. This demonstration is informed by historic representations of the proximities of still frames in sequence and seeks conceptual proximity to this frame-work.

Improving Nursing Deployment Readiness, George Mcenroe

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Projects

Improving Air Force Nursing Deployment Readiness

Abstract

Background. Air Force nurses must be prepared for deployment to support military missions on short notice. During deployments, they may be asked to practice in demanding and austere wartime environments. The required competencies for deployment include the care of multi-trauma patients, mass casualty care, and military-specific skills.

Problem. Air Force nurses are required to maintain an annual Comprehensive Medical Readiness Program (CMRP) checklist, a list of clinical skills based on their nursing specialty. Assessing and maintaining deployment readiness is an ongoing challenge. The Air Force does not currently use any …

Auditioning in New York City is challenging, especially for a living. For foreign-born artists, attempting to succeed on the Great White Way is even more complicated. In this episode, Costa Rican actress Nea Somogyi takes us behind the curtain of the auditioning world in the eyes of an international performer. Produced by Owen Racer and reported by Max Martinez Villalobos, this podcast adds to the ongoing narrative series 'What's it like' by the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism audio concentration.

Ayazamana Keeps Ecuadorian Tradition Alive Amidst Rising Anti-Immigrant Sentiment, Evelin Fajardo-Alvarez

Capstones

My capstone project was an audio feature I produced to air on AudioFiles. My focus was on an Ecuadorian dance team called, Ayazamana, made up of Ecuadorian-American and immigrant dancers. With Trump’s incoming presidency there is a rising anti-immigrant sentiment and Ayazamana seeks to continue proudly sharing their culture and creating a safe space within the city that houses thousands of immigrants.

Two Greek Inscriptions On Mosaics From The Theater At Shuni, Leah Di Segni Dec 2024

Two Greek Inscriptions On Mosaics From The Theater At Shuni, Leah Di Segni

'Atiqot

Two Greek inscriptions, set in a mosaic pavement in the pool adjoining the eastern side of the theater of Shuni, celebrate the foundation of this structure by the otherwise unknown governor of First Palestine Flavius Marcianus Antipater, whose term of office can be dated by his titulature to the second half of the fifth or the early sixth century CE. One of the inscriptions, though fragmentary, can be recognized as an epigram. Both inscriptions exhibit a high level of sophistication, fitting the site where they were found, the location of a renowned Maiumas festival known for its cultural refinement.

Women, Collective Creative Practice, And Community Health, Anne Hensley Dec 2024

Women, Collective Creative Practice, And Community Health, Anne Hensley

Honors Theses

A growing body of research shows that art therapy yields positive outcomes for those experiencing stress and mood disorders. Creative arts therapies have been shown to lower cortisol, improve personal and universal outlook, decrease symptoms of anxiety and depression, increase self-esteem and confidence, alleviate burnout, help individuals to cope with trauma, and support brain function through activity-dependent plasticity. However, little research has been done on collective and collaborative arts, and the enhanced benefits communal practice might bring. Additionally, art therapy is inaccessible to many, due to a dearth of practitioners and cultural and socioeconomic barriers to participation. Peri-, menopausal, and …
