Donna Winkelman is a member of the Center for Jewish Studies advisory board and a dedicated member of the local Jewish community. Originally from Huntington Woods, Winkelman first moved to Ann Arbor while attending U of M--where she later met her husband, Tom. She became part of the CJS team after learning about it from friend and neighbor, Decky Alexander. Both strong supporters of the center, Winkelman and her husband developed the Donna Winkelman and Thomas Easthope Endowed Scholarship in Jewish Studies, which funds students taking travel courses. Haydn’s so-called Sturm und Drang symphonies are renowned for exhibiting a range of disruptive features. While some commentators have attempted to link this with a personal crisis in Haydn’s life, there is no evidence to support the idea. Furthermore, it is misleading to make an association here between stormy musical writing in general and the German literary Sturm und Drang. The principal musical topos that Haydn employs is one that I have termed tempesta, and its origins lie in the storm scenes of Baroque opera. 1 Background/Introduction: Occupational exposure to Waste Anesthetic Gases (WAGs) is a well-known concern for healthcare workers, especially those working in high-risk areas like the operating room (OR). Despite the implementation of safety measures such as WAG scavenging systems, there remains ongoing concern about the potential adverse health effects linked to exposure. This scoping review aims to map the existing evidence on the health risks associated with repeated WAG exposure, specifically focusing on genetic, immunotoxic, and reproductive health impacts. A Canvas Decolonized examines the complex realities faced by Haiti through the lens of its vibrant artistic heritage, highlighting the role of art in interpreting, preserving, and challenging narratives about the nation's history and identity. By exploring the works of Haitian muralists, photographers, painters, and poets including Jean Appolon, Flex Morisseau Leroy, Claes Gabriel, and Edwidge Danticat this study illuminates how these artists engage with themes of colonization, immigration, generational trauma, and cultural displacement.
