The Lincoln Assassination: Crime And Punishment, Myth And Memory, Harold Holzer, Craig L. Symonds, Frank J. Williams
History
The assassination of President Abraham Lincoln remains one of the most prominent events in U.S. history. It continues to attract enormous and intense interest from scholars, writers, and armchair historians alike, ranging from painstaking new research to wild-eyed speculation. At the end of the Lincoln bicentennial year, and the onset of the Civil War sesquicentennial, the leading scholars of Lincoln and his murder offer in one volume their latest studies and arguments about the assassination, its aftermath, the extraordinary public reaction (which was more complex than has been previously believed), and the iconography that Lincoln’s murder and deification inspired.

Customising Doctor-Nurse Communications, Brian Cusack, Dave Parry
Australian eHealth Informatics and Security Conference
Doctor-Nurse communications are critical for patient safety and workflow effectiveness. Our research question was: What further improvements can be made to current communication systems? A variety of mobile and land based communication systems have been used and experimented with. In the study, the pager was found to be most common and more recent attempts to provide broadband capability with systems such as the iBeep. We built an alternative information system using Android phones and a software application that was customised by feedback from the medical professionals. The trial in five wards with 22 doctors and 170 nurses over one month …

The Trouble With Tourism, Steven J. Hollenhorst, Susan Houge Mackenzie, David M. Ostergren
Recreation, Parks and Tourism Administration
The hegemonic view of tourism is as a global panacea for struggling peoples, environments and economies (Smith and Brent 2001). This article begins by arguing that increasing worldwide risks from human-induced climate change fundamentally alter the veracity of this prediction claim. As one of the world’s largest industries, tourism is also one of the largest emitters of carbon, primarily from air transport. Multi-Percussion In The Undergraduate Percussion Curriculum, Benjamin Andrew Charles
Multi-Percussion In The Undergraduate Percussion Curriculum, Benjamin Andrew Charles
Open Access Dissertations
As the role of the percussionist has evolved throughout the past century, a new genre of one performer playing multiple percussion instruments has evolved, most commonly known as "multi-percussion." Undergraduate percussion programs have struggled to keep up with the increasing demand for students to perform solo multi-percussion repertoire. This study first evaluates the role of multi-percussion in the curriculum with a historical overview and survey of current practices. It then explores the possibilities for integrating multi-percussion into the undergraduate percussion curriculum by providing a repertoire guide and a four-year course of study for undergraduate students.
