A Report On An Arts-Led, Emotive Experiment In Interviewing And Storytelling, Kip Jones
A Report On An Arts-Led, Emotive Experiment In Interviewing And Storytelling, Kip Jones
The Qualitative Report
This paper reports on a two-day experimental workshop in arts-led interviewing technique using ephemera to illicit life stories and then reporting narrative accounts back using creative means of presentation. Academics and students from across Schools at Bournemouth University told each other stories from their pasts based in objects that they presented to each other as gifts. Each partner then reported the shared story to the group using arts-led presentation methods. Narrative research and the qualitative interview are discussed. The conclusion is drawn that academics yearn to express the more emotive connections generated by listening to the stories of strangers. The …

Family Affairs newsletter (2004-2016)
FAMILY AFFAIRS was a free, twice-a-month, social activities newsletter for the GLBTQI (gay/lesbian/bisexual/trans/queer/intersex) community, sent out around the 1st and 15th of each month. It covered the State of Maine only. The list was begun and maintained for many years by Jean Vermette in Bangor, and later operated by Zack Paakkonen of Portland. Relationships Between Perceived Parenting Behaviors And Academic Achievement Among High School Students In International Baccalaureate (Ib) Programs: A Comparison Of Asian American And White Students, Wenjun Chen
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Parenting style as a predictor of students' academic achievement is gaining increased interest by parents, educators, and psychologists. Current literature suggests that a combination of three parenting dimensions (i.e., responsiveness, supervision, and autonomy granting) is relevant to characterizing one's parenting style into four types (i.e., authoritative, authoritarian, indulgent, and neglectful), and each dimension of parenting behavior has a different effect on students' academic performance. Based on the different cultural backgrounds and the methods parents use to educate their children at home, some literature suggests that the school performance of some Asian American students could benefit from different parenting behaviors as …

In the exuberant ROCCO, choreographers Emio Greco and Pieter C. Scholten transform the Alexander Kasser Theater stage into a boxing ring, where every seat is ringside. Dancers become boxers in a high-stakes match, challenging each other with punches and strikes, fast footwork and ingenious tactics. Inspired by the classic Italian film Rocco & His Brothers, ROCCO depicts brotherly love and the struggle for a better life with dazzling physical virtuosity.
