Tragedy purposefully engages an audience and does not merely entertain. Its six inherent components include: character, diction, thought, spectacle and song. Aristotle’s position is that the text in and of itself should be strong, complete and able to stand on its own. According to Aristotle, the inferior additions of stagecraft and spectacle do not greatly add to the dramatic potential already evident in the poetry.

This thesis will develop connections between the decomposition of binaries in the cognitive linguistic model of prototype theory and the deconstructionism of binaries in the literary critical theory of deconstructionism, focusing on Tom Stoppard’s The Real Inspector Hound to show the operation of the theory in literature and using on Stoppard’s Arcadia as an example of an application of prototype theory as a critical lens. Prototype theory is a linguistically and psychologically-based theory of categorization which rejects the definition of categorization found in classical theory. Deconstructionism is a reaction to and a partial rejection of structuralism, and teaches that language …

The transition from a communist to a democratic society has affected the entire social map of Moldova, including the library network. For over two and a half decades, Moldovan libraries have undergone major changes and reforms: from closed- to open-access stacks; from ideological institutions serving political platforms to public squares in support of democracy; from repositories of propaganda books to information centers serving the information needs of the communities they serve. This paper examines the changes in, and challenges faced by, Moldova’s libraries from 1991, the year that marks the country’s independence, to the present.
