This paper aims to analyze the 2018 Netflix miniseries adaptation of Richard Adams's classic novel, Watership Down, using Critical Animal Studies and a Cinematographic lens. The analysis focuses on its visual storytelling through the camera angles, lighting, and character representation. Adams’ novel was adapted three times. The first two animated versions were horrifying to the extent that one of them was banned. The most recent version used Computer-Generated Imagery (CGI) technology to be more friendly. The CGI version toned down explicit brutality while maintaining the novel's darker themes. Unlike the two previous versions, the CGI focused on inferred violence and …

This reflective paper explores the experience of the author while co-ordinating a relaunch of Peer-Assisted Learning (PAL) within the Department of Mathematical Sciences at a UK university. PAL involves senior students supporting first-year students through regular collaborative learning sessions, fostering both academic engagement and peer mentoring. The paper discusses the practical challenges encountered during implementation, such as student participation, scheduling, and training of PAL leaders, alongside the strategies that proved effective. Drawing on these experiences, the author will suggest potential improvements to enhance the impact of PAL in future iterations. The insights shared may be of value to other academics …

The words of the other abound in Milan Kundera's novels. In what forms is this discursive otherness textualized ? What is its massive and quasi-systematic use for ? These two questions are at the heart of this article devoted to the study of reported speech in Kunderian fiction. The Mark 26 Guided Missile Launch System was an innovative and modular upgrade from previous systems for the United States Navy at a critical development point during the Cold War. Its incorporation into the Virginia-Class, especially the USS Arkansas, exemplified the rapidly evolving scope and demands of naval warfare in the modern era, and the requirements of individual vessels and component parts of the Navy to fulfill U.S. naval doctrine in this era. Teaching and Learning in Communication Sciences & Disorders

This paper reflects on my experiential learning journey using the Kolb Experiential Learning Cycle to explore pragmatic therapy for young adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). As a participant observer in the Level Up program, I engaged in twice-weekly social communication sessions, gaining insights into interprofessional practice, communication interventions, and effective counseling techniques. Through this hands-on experience, I recognized a gap in the curriculum related to employability skills for individuals with ASD and IDD. This led me to develop a lesson plan focused on job-related social skills, addressing the need for practical, vocational-focused interventions. …

Recognizing that libraries serve multiple constituencies and subject areas, this chapter documents and advocates for development of transdisciplinary arts-based research (ABR) and culture-related projects linked to environmental challenges. Libraries contribute collections and spaces, as well as the research of library and information scientists. Libraries are currently among invisible contributors to sustainability planning and services. The chapter will link this invisibility to the value of what visual arts refer to as negative space elements in subjects ranging from traditional ecological knowledge to environmental science. The “public” is everywhere and nowhere in contemporary public law. Everywhere, in that the term is constantly invoked to justify and explain existing arrangements. Nowhere, in that serious attempts to identify a relevant public and elicit its input are few and far between. Scholars and officials depict the U.S. public as playing myriad roles in governance—checking, guiding, approving, repudiating—without offering an account of how public preferences are formed or how they exercise influence on questions of interest.

This report aims to build upon previous research and provides updated information on community assets to support youth in the Sagadahoc County area. The report examines the strengths, challenges, and opportunities for community investment with the goal of improving outcomes related to youth hopefulness, belonging, and well-being. Banners for the "Pride and Joy: Nebraska History" exhibit that explores the history of LGBTQIA2S+ communities throughout the state of Nebraska. LGBTQ+ individual and community histories are an important part of Nebraska and the nation. This traveling exhibit seeks to share evidence of community gatherings, activism, publications, organizations, and other important topics.

This history is more complex than can be expressed in a single exhibit. Communities continue to experience joy and sorrow, community engagement and turmoil, resilience and discrimination. Advances in artificial intelligence (AI) combined with increased documentation of human overreliance on AI recommendations demands a reexamination of content moderation processes. Social media platforms—reacting to internal values, social pressure, regulatory mandates, or some combination of all three—have carried over procedural due process norms to content decisions. One common procedural protection is a “human-in-the-loop” (HITL) requirement. These requirements insist that a human provide some oversight role prior to an automated decision becoming final.

A review of the core values of due process—namely, accuracy, fairness, legitimacy—and the nature of hybrid decisional frameworks—those that involve AI and human inputs—show that HITL requirements …
