Founded in 1946 by acclaimed drama critic Elliot Norton, the New England Theatre Conference (NETC) is a “non-profit Corporation, composed of individuals and organizations in the Six-State Region of New England, who are active or interested in the performing arts.” Norton began the organization with the purpose of displaying the benefit of networking and collaboration within the performing arts community. The organization focuses on providing opportunities for its members through its subdivisions and committees in an effort to meet the needs of its members through its various events, including its annual conference and auditions. To Pry Unnecessarily Into Other Men's Secrets': Crime Writing, Private Spaces And The Mid-Victorian Police Memoir, Samuel Saunders

SOLON Law, Crime and History (previously SOLON Crimes and Misdemeanours: Deviance and the Law in Historical Perspective)

This article explores connections between eighteenth/early nineteenth century forms of crime writing and police memoir-fiction – a genre that deserves greater recognition for its contribution to the development of the detective genre. It does this through examining how eighteenth/early nineteenth century crime-writing and mid-Victorian police memoirs were connected through their interest in examining private spaces associated with criminality and rendering them public, yet which remained distinct from each other through their different representations of police officers and detectives.

The current standard paradigm for online learning involves asynchronous learning. We propose to expand that paradigm to include synchronous elements to the general course design, specifically cooperative learning (CL). Cooperative learning in any classroom, traditional or online, must include a synchronous event: all members are present at the same time in the same space. A synchronous form of online CL simulates face-to-face interaction available in a live classroom but conducted through screen-to-screen communication. The inclusion of synchronous components carries the benefit of increased student engagement and community-building, thereby maximizing the potential for student learning and successful completion.

What is the Theatre for Community Health?

Theatre for Community Health (TCH) is an exciting way to communicate health and wellness messages across the campus. Since 1991 TCH has produced peer education outreach productions that tour WMU classrooms, residence hals, and nearby campuses. Themes for the production include discussion of sex and healthy relationships, the college alcohol culture, and diversity issues. FireFlies is one of many performance pieces presented by TCH with a run time of 30 minutes.

Contemporary ‘Korean American’ theological discourse seeks to more broadly account for the variations and deviations that characterize the ‘Korean American’ experience. Theologians Andrew Sung Park and Grace Ji-Sun Kim theorize the ‘Korean American’ subject through notions of ‘authenticity’ and cultural ‘rootedness’. Such an approach presents itself to be problematic when one begins to account for the ways that colonialism and imperialism have shaped understandings of culture, ultimately revealing that culture is not simply an expression of ontology, but is also driven by a large array of sociological factors. Staff and Faculty Scholarship

In fall 2018 the A-State Library partnered with Ithaka S+R, a not-for-profit strategic guidance service, to field Ithaka's Local Faculty Survey. The survey examined research and teaching practices of faculty and was comprised of several modules. Results of the survey prompted the Library to add new services including Reading List and Course Text Support as well as guidance on predatory publishers/conferences. The full data set and stratification data are included.

The purpose of this research was to understand how female college students make use of social networks, specifically how they use the medium to connect with others. Researching socialnetworking use pertaining to the phenomenon of connection will give a richer understanding of female students’ lived experience of social networking. Many quantitative studies have been conducted about social networking, but more qualitative measures are needed to explore social networking. With the continuously changing social-networking platforms, there is little research that sheds light on social-networking use among female college students. The Cost Of Saving A Child’S Life: A Cost-Effectiveness Analysis Of A Pediatric Operating Room In Uganda, Ava Yap

This study examines the cost-effectiveness of constructing a dedicated pediatric operating room (OR) in Uganda, a country where access to surgical care is limited to 4 pediatric surgeons serving a population of over 20 million children under 15 years of age.

A decision tree model projected the cost and disability-adjusted life-years (DALY) averted by a Ugandan pediatric OR. OR cost data were collected by obtaining equipment price lists, anesthetic and operative reports, government salary scales. A patient family survey was administered over 6 months to collect out-of-pocket (OOP) costs. The OR case-log, pediatric surgical ward database and literature review informed …
