Naval War College Review
How does one measure victory in combat operations? Is there a difference between victory ashore and victory at sea? These are certainly two fundamen- tal questions about the nature and character of war that are worthy of careful reflection, but too often they become lost among vague assumptions. The two scholars who have taken up the challenge in these two volumes represent differ- ent academic disciplines and each looks at the subject through quite a different lens. While each volume makes a substantial contribution to the literature by itself, when read together they provide an even more interesting and provocative …
The Development Of Vietnam’S Sea-Denial Strategy, Shang-Su Wu
The Development Of Vietnam’S Sea-Denial Strategy, Shang-Su Wu
Naval War College Review
In the past two decades, Vietnam’s military investment has manifested a strategic shift of national interest from land to the maritime sphere, especially since 2000. This evolution reflects the country’s altered external environment and its economic transformation. During the Cold War, Hanoi focused on land warfare. Despite the existence of a small navy since the 1960s, land warfare represented the main security issue for Vietnamese decision makers, whether it concerned the Vietnam War against the United States and its allies, military intervention in Cambodia, or border defense against China.

Your True Colors, Michelle Thomas, Aleta Benson
National Youth Advocacy & Resilience Conference
Someone’s true colors is the kind of person someone really is rather than what the person seems to be. This Powerpoint presentation that includes activities, discussion and handouts, allows the participant to examine their own inherent biases, understand and overcome them. The objective is then to use that knowledge to discover ways of creating a unified classroom by appealing to the needs and cultural inclinations of their students.

Chicago-Kent Law Review
In the field of ethnomusicology, it is possible to consider musical collaborations—such as traditional fieldwork or joint musical projects between artists of different background—as spaces where different individuals and subjectivities share their own artistic practices and products, as well as the musical cultures of which they are representative or bearers. Such collaborations raise an array of methodological questions with implications to social justice and power relations. The aim of this contribution is to use the notion of dignity takings and dignity restoration to tackle some of these questions. While relying strongly on my own fieldwork in Rome and Chicago, I …
