Journal of the American College of Dentists
This special issue of the Journal of the American College of Dentists responds to a growing but long-underrecognized demand for humanities and ethics in dental education, practice, and scholarship. It emerges from the work of the National Collaborative on Humanities and Ethics in Dentistry (NCHED), a multi-institutional partnership formed in 2023 to address the persistent exclusion of dentistry from broader health humanities conversations. Through national webinars and scholarly collaboration, NCHED has demonstrated substantial interest in ethical reflection, historical analysis, narrative inquiry, and the arts as essential to understanding oral health and dental care. The unexpectedly strong response to the call …

Journal of the American College of Dentists
The Dental Clinical Humanities Certificate Program was implemented 10 years ago at the UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry to expose dental students to dental humanities content and engage them in educational experiences exploring oral health care through humanities lenses, providing insight into the human condition and patient-centered approaches. With more than 30 students having graduated from the program, we conducted a retrospective analysis of the exit surveys previously distributed at the end of each academic year. The exit survey focused on their general program feedback, including the effects of dental humanities as an academic enterprise, cultivating their self-knowledge and serving …

Deconstructing Gender Relations In Selected Essays By Abdelkébir Khatibi And Fatema Mernissi, Hanane El Majidi
Deconstructing Gender Relations In Selected Essays By Abdelkébir Khatibi And Fatema Mernissi, Hanane El Majidi
Faits de Langue et Société (FLS)
This article examines how gender relations are deconstructed in selected essays by Abdelkébir Khatibi and Fatema Mernissi, situating their work within Moroccan debates of the 1980s and 1990s on social change and the family. It analyzes writing strategies and theoretical resources—literary and sociological—used to question gender as a socially acquired performance. Particular attention is given to Mernissi’s texts, where multiple female voices (songs, interviews, and familial figures) are made audible and reworked into a political reading of rights, labor, and access to public space. The study shows how the essay form operates as a site for shifting norms and for …
Lexical Correlation Features In The Narratives Of Tahar Ben Jelloun, Ouidiane El Aref
Lexical Correlation Features In The Narratives Of Tahar Ben Jelloun, Ouidiane El Aref
Faits de Langue et Société (FLS)
This article aims to test and compare different statistical methods applied to literary texts in order to measure the lexical proximity between two texts of a corpus. The Hyperbase functions will be tested, the measurement of the "intertextual distance" which is based on Jaccard's indices and Labbé's method but also the evaluation of the "lexical connection". The tree analysis, which highlights the classification hierarchy of texts, will be used to present the distribution of high and low frequencies as a criterion of differentiation. The body of experimentation gathers the novels of Tahar Ben Jelloun (1973-2010).

A Crown In Death: An (Expanded) Dramaturgical Approach To The Trojan Women Of Euripides, Stephanie Lester
A Crown In Death: An (Expanded) Dramaturgical Approach To The Trojan Women Of Euripides, Stephanie Lester
Montview Journal of Research & Scholarship
In the action-packed, visually-oriented market for modern media, some may assume a 2,400-year-old Greek tragedy to be slightly past its expiration date, especially if it features little to no action onstage like in Euripides’ The Trojan Women. However, it is important to remember that literature is lost when the world fails to cherish it, so if a text survives that long, it may be worth another cursory glance. In this case, that glance involved a full dramaturgical study featuring qualitative script analysis of multiple translations of The Trojan Women with related texts to explore context, themes, common literary devices, and …
