This essay aims to debate the evidence of an ethical-reparative function for literature and literary studies today. Therefore, it is divided into two fundamental moments, two argumentative channels that, without a totalizing intention, point out the general perspective of the current, changing, stuation. On the one hand, the literature of the 20th century is presented through the image of a supposed negativity or radical intransitivity, capable of “undoing the work” in its “aesthetics of suppression.” On the other hand, from an introductory debate around some of the places of transitivity envisioned for literature at the beginning of the 21th century, …

In Germany, multiculturalism and “leading culture” (Leitkultur) are a pair of closely connected but opposite concepts. Multiculturalism has been accused of being the main reason why culture loses its core cohesion. Despite the persistence of calls for a leading culture in Germany in recent years, many scholars argue that the concept is also problematic. A monopolistic leading culture may be hard to realize in an already pluralistic Europe. I argue that the choice between the two reflects the dilemma of the establishment of German cultural identity. This article compares the ways in which two scholars, the anthropologist Kate Crehan and the philosopher Diego Fusaro, analyze Gramsci’s thought, verifying its current relevance and effectiveness in interpreting populism. In Crehan’s recent Gramscian studies the categories of senso comune and buon senso become crucial. Crehan utilizes categories such as “culture” and senso comune to explain both the Tea Party experience and Donald Trump’s election. Fusaro, on the contrary, is an Italian public intellectual who declares himself a sovereignist and who often includes, among the theoretical references of Italian contemporary sovereignism, the author of Quaderni del carcere. Bear Essentials is an online newsletter published by the Student Activities Council of Des Moines Area Community College. The newsletter was established in early 2020 when DMACC closed its facilities due to the coronavirus pandemic. The newsletter covers topics such as upcoming virtual activities and events, college resources, and community service opportunities. When asked about the origins of the newsletter, Student Activities Advisor Erin Smith said, "We wanted students to know they were not alone, the entire DMACC Community was coming together to help support one another in any way possible."

I propose a methodology of literary study to be used in a wide range of disciplines and genres. While there have been numerous applications of postcolonial theory to the analysis of texts produced before, during, and after colonization, this transnational feminist methodology (TFM) is updated or reinvented to include discussions of the psychological and material ramifications of neocolonialism and neo-imperialism, especially about the immigrant experience—in particular, the perspective of children of immigrants living in diasporic communities. The work’s focus on postcolonial feminism is complicated by looking at gender, race, trans-nationality, and other identity factors that shape the work of writers …

The Inclusion in theatre is a research project I made in to expand the knowledge of relaxed shows within a performance art setting and how we can integrate relaxed shows in theatre for the inclusion of all.

Relaxed shows within theatre mean a performance that is sensory friendly performances, sometimes called relaxed performances alter the designs to be inclusive for all audience members including volume, lighting, and trigger warnings. Relaxed performances are needed within the theatre community to increase accessibility within performances and also within theatrical education settings as well.

When Paris Singer established the Everglades Club, he changed forever the nature of Palm Beach as a winter resort. Until 1918 social life centered on the Flagler hotels and the Beach Club, Colonel Edward Bradley’s gambling casino. In the period after World War I, when growing wealth allowed America’s middle class to plan winter vacations, society found its exclusiveness threatened. Almost anyone who could afford it could register at the Royal Poinciana, the Breakers, or the Palm Beach Hotel. The Everglades Club, with its expensive restricted membership, allowed for a new definition of society in the winter resort.

Patricia R. Wickman’s study of Osceola is not a typical biography. She outlines the major events in the life of Osceola, but her focus is primarily on Osceolana— that is, the artifacts associated with the hero of the Seminoles’ struggle to remain in their homeland. She attempts to separate the genuine accounts of his life and accurate visual representations of him from those that are derivative, and she authenticates some personal belongings while casting considerable doubt on others.
