Marriage, Money, And The Meaning Of Life In Thornton Wilder's The Matchmaker, Asst. Instructor. Suaad Hussein Ali
Marriage, Money, And The Meaning Of Life In Thornton Wilder's The Matchmaker, Asst. Instructor. Suaad Hussein Ali
Midad AL-Adab Refereed Quarterly Journal
The Matchmaker is a romantic comedy which aims to seek human warmth in all human relationships. The play discusses the themes of marriage and money which are universal subjects that "repeat in the lives of millions." The characters in this play recognize the meaning of life through love, compassion and participation in life. The play also shows how one's wrong beliefs in the affairs of marriage and getting money, or one's pride and self-righteousness, sometimes, stand as an obstacle against one's happiness.
This paper aims to shed the light on Wilder's view about marriage and money and how these two …

Perioperative registered nurses and anesthesiologists that rely on a process for placing regional anesthesia (R.A.) blocks on the correct side for surgical patients consistently provide high-quality, safe care. Infrequently anesthesiologists place the wrong side peripheral nerve blocks (P.N.B.). Due to the sensitive nature of sentinel events, the frequency of its occurrence at this quality improvement (Q.I.) project site is unavailable. Therefore, a report by Harris et al. (2021) was referenced for the incidence of wrong side blocks (W.S.B.), which were recorded in worldwide, national, and multihospital health care system cohorts as 3.63/10,000, 1.6/10,000, and 1.28/10,000 respectively. The PreOp/PACU nursing staff …

A Conceptualisation Of Resilience Among Cancer Surviving Employed Women In Malaysia, Melati Sumari, Nordinah Mohd Kassim, Nor Safatul Aznin A.Razak
The Qualitative Report
This study examines the experiences faced by employed female cancer survivors when developing resilience. We used a phenomenological approach to understand these experiences and challenges. A total of ten participants with different types of cancer participated in this research, which was carried out using semi-structured interviews. Social media was used for triangulating the data collected. The meanings of resilience were monitored through the particpants’ social media accounts (namely, Facebook and Instagram) from the time of diagnosis until they returned to work. Data were analysed using thematic analysis. Five themes emerged from the data collected: (a) resilience through painful experience, (b) …

Discourse(S) Of Identity: Precarity And (In)Visibility In Farida Karodia’S Daughters Of The Twilight, Goutam Karmakar, Rajendra Chetty
Journal of International Women's Studies
Apartheid South Africa witnessed the forming of cultural and sexual identities within political strategies that were designed to categorize and regulate “non-white” individuals. By dealing with interactions between white men and black women, South African literary works in the penultimate years of apartheid demonstrate apartheid’s structural viciousness and gendered hierarchy through certain innovative deviations. Daughters of the Twilight (1986) by Farida Karodia is one such text that not only sheds light on the masculine, racialized, and patriarchal apartheid structure of the male gaze, but also inherently disallows the female characters of Karodia’s narrative to inhabit neither day nor night, as …

Futurist Art And Touch: Dinamismo Plastico, Tattilismo, Polimaterismo, Molly J. Everett
Futurist Art And Touch: Dinamismo Plastico, Tattilismo, Polimaterismo, Molly J. Everett
Theses and Dissertations
This thesis considers the Futurist engagement with touch, primarily through the artwork and writing of four Italian artists: Umberto Boccioni (1882–1916), F. T. Marinetti (1876–1944), Benedetta (Cappa) Marinetti (1897–1977), and Enrico Prampolini (1894–1956). Informed by childhood education, art theory and aesthetics, and perceptual psychology, these Futurists embraced tactility as a vehicle for avant-garde invention.

Professional Learning Communities: A Way To Provide General Education Teachers With Strategies To Support Fluency, Meredith Skorupski
Professional Learning Communities: A Way To Provide General Education Teachers With Strategies To Support Fluency, Meredith Skorupski
Masters Projects
General education teachers are tasked with the important and challenging job of teaching a diverse group of students each school year. Students’ struggles range and are influenced by environmental and social factors. To meet the needs of their students, teachers must be provided with instructional guidance for using research-based strategies to combat areas of concern. Professional learning communities on the topic of fluency provide a space for these conversations to happen within schools. Fluency is an overlooked aspect of reading, but it vital for a student’s reading growth. This project will provide the framework needed for professional learning communities on …

Library And Information Science (Lis) Education In The 21st Century: Emerging Skills For A Changing World, Peter Olubunmi Olubiyo
Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
The LIS professionals are the bridge between information resources and the readers because of the skill they possessed. In the library, resources are acquired and processed based on rules and regulations of the profession. And these rules and regulations do not come in rosy way. They are acquired from the academic world where the skills are being taught, to handle library information resources in a way that users can easily access them. The core skills traditionally associated with library/ information science include information handling skills - cataloguing, classification, indexing, enquiry work and user education training skills with facilitating skills and …
