Sculpture as a medium is inherently connected to legacy making. In producing three- dimensional monuments designed to withstand the test of time, women artists provided evidence of the lasting quality and permanence of their creative acts. This article examines the actress, sculptress and novelist Anne Damer’s sculpture of the famous actress turned Countess Eliza Farren (c. 1788), paying particular attention to the relationship between sculpture as a static art form that captures tactile embodied presence and the ephemerality of performance. How do we trace the historical processes that grant some writers visibility and, hence, legacy, while shoving others into the historical closet? This essay offers the case study of Elizabeth Boyd (1727-1745), a novelist, poet, and playwright who has received some attention from scholars interested in women’s contributions to the legacy of William Shakespeare in the second quarter of the eighteenth century. The historiography of Banda has paid little attention to the existence of women. Stories involving women are mainly about romance, family, and suffering. In reality, the existence of “Mama Lima” (groups of five women) is very strong in the Banda tradition (adat). They are the carriers of knowledge and tradition, a consequence of matriarchy. They determine the content and implementation of adat ceremonies like Buka kampong, forming the set of social norms and customary law of the community. This thesis challenges the conventional discourse on international punishment that emphasizes the development of a single, unified system of international criminal justice. Instead, it advocates for a pluralistic approach that recognizes the fragmented nature of international punishment, which involves various actors, including permanent courts, special tribunals, internationalized tribunals, and domestic courts exercising universal jurisdiction. The sui generis nature of international crimes demands a comprehensive approach to punishment that considers multiple perspectives and norms of diverse actors involved. CONTEXT: In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, healthcare-associated infections have taken center stage. Healthcare has adjusted workflows to accommodate for more robust disinfecting regiments to help protect the community. This has resulted in the need for medical institutions to reevaluate the current disinfection protocols down to the student level. The osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM) laboratory provides an optimal avenue for assessing the effectiveness of medical students' ability to clean examination tables. This exploratory paper proposes the use of pragmatist philosophy as a methodological bridge between design and the social sciences. It develops John Dewey’s ecological notion of the ‘situation’ into two novel methods for sensing and mapping situations. The first method, called ‘sensing situations’, aims to help designers become more aware of the diverse elements that make up a situation and develop a deeper understanding of it through embodied experience. The experiment presented here, took place at a history museum in order to re-work human subject positions in the museum. In recent years, scholars have been increasingly urged to address a gender dimension i.e. sex and gender impact in research. In this study, we explore scholars’ explicit and implicit views about the future of implementing gender impact assessment (GIA) in research. We do so by analysing a series of co-design workshops in which participants anticipated possible futures regarding the use of a GIA checklist. We conduct a narrative inquiry of participants’ stories consisting of the personas and scenarios created at the workshops. Typically, when evaluating iconic typefaces, we investigate the degree to which they communicate well-established connotative narratives. Helvetica, for example, is an icon of simplicity and clarity and so, is applied across various designs to exude similar tones. Bodoni, a showpiece of Neoclassicism, detailing and adornment facilitated by technological advancement during the 18th century Industrial Revolution, often appears in designs suited to premium brands. The present study addresses visitors’ experiences at the world-famous Chariot Festival - Ratha Yatra - which is held every year at Shri Kshetra, Puri Dham in the state of Odisha, India. Empirical evidence is used to analyse how each of the experience dimension affects the overall event and to assess the likelihood of revisiting.
