The Role Of Pornography In The “Rough Sex” Defence In Canada, Lisa Gotell, Isabel Grant, Elizabeth Sheehy

Drawing upon the authors’ earlier research studying the consent defence when it is used to suggest that the complainant agreed to “rough sex” involving violence, this paper develops an extended analysis of the complex role of pornography in these decisions. This paper focuses on a subset of “rough sex” cases, where pornography played a role in “scripting” the accused’s behaviour. Thematically, these cases included: those where the accused had a substantial history of consumption of violent pornography; cases in which the accused forced the complainant to view pornography as part of the assault; cases where the accused recorded the attack, …

Consumer and data protection policies often focus on consent and information disclosure. The purpose of these regulatory strategies is the protection of consumers by reducing some contracting failures, such as asymmetries of information and a lower bargaining power, especially in transactions involving complex issues such as financial products and sensitive personal data. Background: Persistent Complex Bereavement Disorder (PCBD) comprises a set of grief symptoms that are often linked to other psychological conditions such as PTSD and depression, may be prevalent in Veterans with combat experience, and may also impact general health.

Objective: This study investigated the association between grief and sleep, pain, PTSD, and depression, among Veterans participating in a clinical trial for PCBD treatment.

Method: Data from 155 Veterans receiving treatments for PCBD were analysed to explore the association between PCBD and symptoms of sleep pain, PTSD, and depression. Veterans experiencing grief reported symptoms related to physical health, emotional problems, energy, …

Child’s The French Chef, which ran for ten years on the Boston public television station, WGBH, changed how American’s viewed, produced, and consumed food. But in the last decade, many firms have announced commitments to various social justice issues, folding them into corporate mission statements, codes of corporate social responsibility, and branding. BACKGROUND: Parkinson's disease (PD) is a complex neurodegenerative disorder impacting everyday function and quality of life. Rehabilitation plays a crucial role in improving symptoms, function, and quality of life and reducing disability, particularly given the lack of disease-modifying agents and limitations of medications and surgical therapies. However, rehabilitative care is under-recognized and under-utilized in PD and often only utilized in later disease stages, despite research and guidelines demonstrating its positive effects. The note argues that the contemporary streaming industry, dominated by a few major platforms, mirrors the pre-Paramount era's anticompetitive practices, necessitating a reexamination of antitrust laws to address oligopolistic structures, protect independent creators, and ensure consumer access to diverse content. It contends that the repeal of the Paramount Decrees and the failure of current antitrust frameworks to adapt to the streaming industry's unique challenges have allowed media giants to grow unchecked, stifling competition and innovation.

The public health restrictions implemented by the Irish government due to Covid-19 resulted in one of the most extensive music industry lockdowns in Europe. Dublin, however, was already experiencing a large scale contraction of club culture. Prior to the pandemic, the physical spaces that dance music and club culture thrived in over the past 40 years had greatly diminished, many being demolished to make way for hotels and upmarket student accommodation. งานวิจัยชิ้นนี้ จัดทำขึ้นเพื่อพัฒนาเครื่องมือวัดประสบการณ์ผู้บริโภคในการสื่อสารการตลาดด้วยอีเวนต์เสมือน (Customer experience in virtual event marketing communication หรือ CEVEM) โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) สร้างกรอบแนวคิด (Conceptualization) ประสบการณ์ผู้บริโภคในการสื่อสารการตลาดด้วยอีเวนต์เสมือน 2) พัฒนาเครื่องมือวัด (Measurement) ประสบการณ์ผู้บริโภคในการสื่อสารการตลาดด้วยอีเวนต์เสมือน ที่มีความเที่ยง (Reliability) และความตรง (Validity) และ 3) ทดสอบความไม่แปรเปลี่ยน (Invariance) ของเครื่องมือวัดประสบการณ์ผู้บริโภคในการสื่อสารการตลาดด้วยอีเวนต์เสมือนที่พัฒนาขึ้น ตามประเภทของผลิตภัณฑ์ที่สื่อสาร โดยงานวิจัยได้ใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยแบบผสม (Mixed methods) เริ่มต้นจากการวิเคราะห์เอกสาร (Documentary analysis) และสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก (In-depth interviews) กับนักวิชาการ 6 ท่าน และผู้เชี่ยวชาญในอุตสาหกรรม 6 ท่าน จากนั้นจึงได้เก็บข้อมูลเชิงปริมาณด้วยการวิจัยเชิงสำรวจ (Survey research) กับกลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ได้รับชมการสื่อสารการตลาดด้วยอีเวนต์เสมือนจำนวน 453 คน ผลการวิจัยจากการวิเคราะห์องค์ประกอบเชิงสำรวจ (Exploratory factor analysis) พบว่า มาตรวัดประสบการณ์ผู้บริโภคในการสื่อสารการตลาดด้วยอีเวนต์เสมือนประกอบไปด้วย 6 มิติ อันได้แก่ 1) ประสบการณ์ความใหม่ 2) ประสบการณ์ความสัมพันธ์ 3) ประสบการณ์ความลื่นไหล 4) ประสบการณ์ปัญญา 5) ประสบการณ์อารมณ์ และ 6) ประสบการณ์กายภาพ โดยมีค่าสัมประสิทธิ์แอลฟ่าของครอนบาคอยู่ที่ .97 จึงถือได้ว่า มาตรวัดนี้มีความเที่ยง และจากการวิเคราะห์องค์ประกอบเชิงยืนยัน (Confirmatory factor analysis) พบว่า โมเดลที่พัฒนาขึ้นมีความตรงเชิงโครงสร้าง นอกจากนั้น ผลการทดสอบความไม่แปรเปลี่ยนยังแสดงให้เห็นว่า มาตรวัดที่สร้างขึ้นนั้น ไม่มีความแปรเปลี่ยนตามประเภทผลิตภัณฑ์ โดยสามารถใช้ได้ในการสื่อสารการตลาดด้วยอีเวนต์เสมือนทั้งประเภทผลิตภัณฑ์และการบริการ (Generalizability) และสุดท้าย การทดสอบอิทธิพลชี้ให้เห็นว่า ประสบการณ์ผู้บริโภคในการสื่อสารการตลาดด้วยอีเวนต์เสมือนนั้น ส่งอิทธิพลเชิงบวกต่อทั้งทัศนคติต่อตราสินค้า (Brand attitude) และความพึงพอใจต่องานอีเวนต์ (Event satisfaction) ตามลำดับ

Cultivating places and spaces to encourage sociality and foster sociocultural inclusion is a very pertinent societal challenge. Community festivals are often marshalled in the interest of making cities more hospitable for the increasing numbers of migrants, refugees, remote workers and tourists internationally on the move. This study investigates if and how community festivals are constructing hospitality through their practices. The findings are drawn from a qualitative study of two community festivals in Dublin's North East Inner City, an ethnically diverse area characterized by social disadvantage. Climate change and sustainability are inherently socio-political issues and education plays a key role in mobilising action on climate change and environment. This study builds on interdisciplinary work on youth and climate change education including science communication, environmental education, environmental psychology, and sociology. It reports on novel mixed-methods research on attitudes to climate change and sustainability education in secondary schools in the UK. As two female librarians who have worked in digital scholarship at research institutions, we have observed how patriarchal gender norms can influence the way teams operate and the toxic impact they have on librarians.
