Neurodivergent Student Success In Postsecondary Education: Attitudes Toward Current Accommodations, Alexis T. Cunha

Honors Undergraduate Theses

This thesis investigated the perceptions of accommodation efficacy held by students with neurodevelopmental disabilities at UCF (the University of Central Florida) to understand whether the current accommodations are adequate for those accessing them. Prior research has found that students with disabilities face many barriers when accessing proper accommodations.

Furthermore, even when they access them, the accommodations may fall short of what is needed. An online survey study was conducted to investigate student usage of and attitudes toward accommodations. Augmented art— the subgenre of art that incorporates physical and digital artwork— is a rapidly growing field driven by advancing technology and a new generation for whom that tech is a given. Yet the presence of media like augmented and virtual reality in exhibition remains a controversial subject. Rather than focusing on the many theoretical debates about whether digital pieces can qualify as "good" art, we study it in practice through the eyes of the casual art observer. The United States has entered a new constitutional era where substantive due process, under attack by the Supreme Court itself, can no longer be viewed as a solid foundation for the securing of personal privacy rights. In a post-Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization world, the right to personal privacy, long understood to be protected under the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments’ Due Process Clauses, is in need of a new doctrinal home. The connection between co-curricular activities and student’s undergraduate university experience was explored in this study. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze existing university exit survey data from the Arkansas State University Leaving the Den survey. The survey was designed to gather feedback on students’ university experiences. This study explored the feasibility of using an existing exit survey to gather data on students’ co-curricular experiences, perceived and real return on investment in their education, and post-graduate plans. Co-curricular experiences identified in the survey were connected to NACE Career Competencies. The outcomes of the descriptive analysis indicate strong connections between student participation …

The Copyright Requirement Of Human Authorship For Works Containing Artificial Intelligence-Generated Content, Runhua Wang

The U.S. Copyright Office (the “Office”) unwaveringly refuses to register copyrights for artworks created by artificial intelligence (“AI”) systems. The prima facie reason is a lack of authorship because the U.S. copyright regime recognizes only humans as authors. However, the fundamental reason lies in the fact that legislators have not yet determined whether to grant copyrights to AI users. Despite adjustments made by the Office in response to the use of AI systems in creation, the agency’s implementation of copyright statutes suggests that it remains extremely conservative, rejecting any AI-generated content (“AIGC”) from copyright registration.

This essay describes a student-designed framework implemented by an honors program because of budget constraints. The framework’s implementation, involving structured student leadership, feedback integration, and curricular adaptations, is detailed along with an exploration of the positive consequences of implementing a student-designed approach to co-curricular offerings. Benefits of the approach include better fulfillment of the honors mission, meaningful student leadership development, program growth, and eventually increased resources.

This paper examines the influence that children’s media has on the formation of gender identity in young children. Through an analysis of the psychology behind children’s formation of gender, coupled with Judith Butler’s theory of gender performativity and history acts, this paper delves into the media’s perpetuation of gender roles and highlights the its critical role in providing children with examples about how to consider and embody one’s gender. Children’s media still possesses gender stereotypes and traditional associations, despite modern movies’ attempts to shift away from harmful narratives. วิทยานิพนธ์เล่มนี้มีเนื้อหาเกี่ยวกับกระบวนการแก้ไขปัญหาการเป็นตัวละครและการอยู่ กับความต้องการของตัวละคร : กรณีศึกษาการแสดงเป็นตัวละคร “มาช่า” ในละครเวทีเรื่อง วานย่า และ ซอนย่า และ มาช่า และ สไปค์ (2555) ของ คริสโตเฟอร์ ดูแรง โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อฝึกฝนและพัฒนาทักษะการแสดงในการเป็นตัวละครและการอยู่กับความต้องการของตัวละครของนักแสดงและเพื่อค้นหาแนวทางแก้ไขปัญหาการเป็นตัวละครและการอยู่กับความต้องการตัวละครของนักแสดงในฐานะตัวละคร “มาช่า (Masha)” ในบทละครเวทีเรื่อง “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike” เนื่องจากผู้วิจัยยังมีประสบการณ์ด้านการแสดงไม่มากพอทำให้ผู้วิจัยประสบปัญหาในการแสดง 2 เรื่อง คือ 1.) การเป็นตัวละครหรือการเข้าถึงบทบาทของตัวละคร และ 2.) การอยู่กับความต้องการของตัวละคร โดยมีคำถามงานวิจัยว่า ผู้วิจัยจะสามารถพัฒนาทักษะการแสดงเรื่องการเป็นตัวละครเเละการอยู่กับความต้องการของตัวละครของนักแสดงในการแสดงบทละครเวทีเรื่อง “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike” ได้อย่างไรบ้าง ซึ่งในงานวิจัยชิ้นนี้ผู้วิจัยได้ค้นคว้าหาข้อมูล แนวคิด ทฤษฎี ของนักการละครตะวันตกที่ได้ร่ำเรียนจากศาสตร์ด้านการแสดงของหลักสูตรปริญญาโท ภาควิชาศิลปการละคร คณะอักษรศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย โดยตั้งสมมติฐานของงานวิจัยไว้ว่าการเป็นตัวละครและการอยู่กับความต้องการของตัวละคร "มาช่า (Masha)" จะช่วยให้ร่างกายของผู้วิจัยในฐานะนักแสดงสามารถตอบสนองออกมาได้อย่างเป็นธรรมชาติ ทั้งนี้กระบวนการดำเนินงานวิจัยแบ่งออกเป็นทั้งหมด 4 กระบวนการคือ 1.) การทำงานวิเคราะห์บทละครและตัวละคร 2.) กระบวนการฝึกซ้อมการแสดง 3.) ช่วงระยะเวลาการทำงานก่อนวันแสดง (Pre - Production) และ 4.) ช่วงระยะเวลาการแสดงและหลังการแสดง (Production) นอกจากนี้ผู้วิจัยมีเครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยเพื่อประเมินผลการวิจัย 2 แบบดังนี้ คือ 1.) แบบบันทึกวิดิโอการซ้อมการแสดงและการสังเกต (Observation) ผู้วิจัยได้มีการจดบันทึกคำแนะนำจากผู้กำกับหลังการฝึกซ้อมทุกครั้ง พร้อมทั้งบันทึกภาพวิดิโอตอนช่วงฝึกซ้อมบางช่วงกับบันทึกวิดีโอรอบวันแสดงจริง และ 2.) การประเมินผลจากการแสดงจริงของช่วงระยะหลังการแสดง(Post Production) ซึ่งผู้วิจัยได้จัดทำแบบสอบถามจากผู้รับชมการแสดงและคำแนะนำจากผู้กำกับและครูที่ปรึกษาหลักด้านการแสดง ผลการวิจัยครั้งนี้พบว่า การเป็นตัวละครและการอยู่กับความต้องการของตัวละครนั้นต้องเริ่มจากการเข้าใจตัวละครโดยการที่นักแสดงต้องมีความรู้สึกนึกคิดแบบตัวละคร พร้อมทั้งการปล่อยวางตนเองให้อยู่กับปัจจุบันขณะ(Moment) จะสามารถช่วยให้ผู้วิจัยสามารถสื่อสารการแสดง ถ่ายทอดบทบาท และสามารถตอบสนองปรับเปลี่ยนวิธีการการแสดงที่มีมิติหลากหลายพร้อมทั้งแสดงตามสถานการณ์ในฉากได้อย่างเหมาะสม ซึ่งผู้วิจัยได้นำ แนวคิด ทฤษฎี เทคนิคการแสดงของผู้เชี่ยวชาญการแสดงชื่อดังทั้ง 3 ท่านคือ …

This paper examines Thai author Prabda Yoon’s Basement Moon, a 2018 science fictional novel that embodies the belief that art and science can play a vital role in triggering critical consciousness that keeps alive the spirit of dissent. A close reading of the novel also reveals that it mirrors several key concepts and ideas promoted by Gramsci pertaining to power relations between the ruling class and those under them and the educational roles of art and science. This thesis reflects upon grind culture's effect on the millennial generation, beginning with an examination of the origins of our modern-day grind culture and how it continues to encourage us to overwork ourselves to burnout. By investigating late-stage capitalism's influence on my life and my emotional capabilities as a dancer and a parent, I aim to chart an alternative path forward. This thesis chronicles this moment in time as I challenge myself to find a new way to exist in resistance to the grind with embodiment and rest practices not only for my own life but my family as well.
