SPECIFIC AIM: We aim to Improve the medication administration process and involve all staff within 6 months

In the microsystem consisting of 14 family practice and urgent care clinics, there is not a standard process based on evidence based practices for medication administration. With and estimated of 400-600 medications (immunizations included) being administered per day, without a standard of care protocol, the risk for medication errors is evident.

Medication administration is a multistep process that involves prescribing, transcribing, dispensing, and administering drugs. The transcription of medication orders during patient admissions have been described as an error prone process by nurses on the unit. An FMEA analysis and unit surveys indicated a need for improvement. The specific aim for this project is to improve the mediation transcription process for new patients with 100% participation from all staff by December 1, 2014. The collection provides a view of the early days of colonization in the Santa Clara Valley and the growth of the mission culture.

The School of Nursing was planning to take ownership of the OA journal,Online Journal of Rural Nursing and Health Care, and the new editor asked if the Libraries would assist with the editorial and managerial process. Erin Rushton, Web Services and Nursing Librarian, was named Managing Editor. She helps support the publishing system and prepares the pdfs for publication. She also ensures the journal is indexed and preserved in the Libraries’ preservation system. The ability of turfgrass to maintain quality and functionality during use and drought stress are fundamental to almost all turfgrass environments. A possible mechanism to increase wear and drought tolerance is through the use of supplemental silicon (Si) application. Until recently, Si has received little attention for its role in crop physiology or performance.

While it is recoverable within the plant it is not recognized as an “essential” plant growth component. Si is the second most abundant element in the Earth’s crust; however the majority of soil-Si is bio-geochemically inert. Plants absorb Si exclusively as monosillicic acid, H₂SiO …

A multi-tier architecture is under development (with similar craft heterogeneity to Fink's work on ‘tier scalable’ missions) which will facilitate autonomous local control of multiple heterogeneous craft. This mission architecture has been developed with a Mars mission in mind and has included CubeSats in a variety of critical mission roles.

Two concepts will be presented: the addition of CubeSats to a larger-scale multi-tier mission, where the CubeSats serve a supporting role and a mission driven by CubeSat orbital capabilities. The causes and neurodevelopmental outcomes of children exposed to drugs and/or alcohol prenatally are presented. The incidence of this population is rising rapidly and appearing in increasing numbers on the caseloads of speech-language pathologists. Topics include prevalence, common drugs, Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, longer-term neurodevelopmental outcomes, and treatment challenges.

Introduction •The leading cause of hospitalization in the United States is heart failure among adults 65 years of age. •One million patients are hospitalized every year with a primary diagnosis of heart failure, resulting in a Medicare expenditure exceeding $17 billion. •For every five patients admitted to a hospital with congestive heart failure (CHF), one patient will be readmitted within 30 days of discharge . •75 percent of early heart failure readmissions are preventable. •Medicare introduced the Hospital Readmission Reduction Program that became effective in 2012. • This program established financial penalties for greater than expected readmissions for primary diagnoses …
