Dipl 4555 Economic Aspects Of The International System, Robert Shaver Phd
Diplomacy Syllabi
For seven decades following the conclusion of the Second World War the portion of global GDP accounted for by international trade grew almost continuously, a phenomenon which we today call globalization. In our current moment, however, with the return of tariffs, trade wars and great-power competition, globalization has stalled and even threatens to reverse. This serves as a reminder that despite increasing connectivity our modern world is still divided into territorial nation-states, each of which possesses great power in shaping its economic interactions with the rest of the globe. This means that any understanding of the global economy must consider …

Attentive Listening And Confirmation Key Aspects In Health Promotion Encounters With Patients In Telephone Counselling, Margaretha Larsson, Catharina Gillsjö, Anna Sundberg, Maria Zakrisson, Irene Eriksson
College of Nursing Faculty Publications
Introduction: Health-promoting telephone counselling is a growing but underexplored area of nursing, where district nurses (telenurses) play a key role in supporting patients' health and autonomy without physical presence. While this form of care is widespread, time constraints, emotional strain, and system limitations may challenge telenurses' ability to create meaningful, person-centred encounters. Gaining insight into how telenurses experience health-promoting interactions is essential for improving care quality and support systems. This study contributes new knowledge by exploring the lived experiences of telenurses in such encounters, offering perspectives that can inform education, policy, and practice development. Aim: The study aim was to …

Building A Growth Mindset Via Continuous Revision: A Case Study Of A Basic Writing Classroom, Adrian J. Rivera
Journal of Response to Writing
Continuous revision policies provide sizable benefits to students, though one previously unexplored avenue of research is how such policies can help students develop a growth mindset. For the purposes of this article, a continuous revision policy is one where students are able to revise their work on a rolling basis up until a predetermined point in the semester, with multiple rounds of revision being accepted and encouraged. This article details the results of a semester-long study of a basic writing classroom wherein the objective was to determine how a continuous revision policy can help students develop a growth mindset. Generative Ai In Chinese Esl Students’ Writing Processes: Stages, Methods, And Language Use, Runzhou Shan
Journal of Response to Writing
This paper explores how Chinese ESL students utilize Generative AI (Gen AI) in their writing processes, focusing on the stages of writing, specific methods of use, and language practices. The study was carried out in an English-medium instruction (EMI) environment at a Sino-American university in China. Data were collected through online surveys with 157 participants and follow-up interviews with nine students. Quantitative analysis of the survey data uncovered general patterns, while analysis of the interview data, using Polio & Freedman’s (2017) coding method to identify themes, provided detailed illustrations. Subsequent analysis indicates that students primarily engage with Gen AI in …

Theopathic Analogy: A Canonical-Theological Approach To God’S Emotions, Hunter Tabor
Theopathic Analogy: A Canonical-Theological Approach To God’S Emotions, Hunter Tabor
Philosophy Student Projects
The philosophical and theological problem of divine impassibility has received much attention in recent years. One way of articulating this problem in Christian theology is this: can one truthfully ascribe emotions to God? This paper responds in the affirmative. After explaining the problem of anthropomorphism leveled against religious language, I argue that analogy best accounts for human speech about God and effectively responds to this critique. Second, I outline a canonical-inductive approach to the Bible that takes seriously the unity of God’s self-disclosure. From these commitments, I argue that God’s emotions are not anthropopathic—“bottom-up” human projections. Instead, human emotions are …

Proactive Aging: A New Aging Programming Framework For Cooperative Extension, Jeong Eun Lee, Eunbea Kim, Yulri Kim, Eva Kahana
Journal of Human Sciences and Extension
Traditional Extension programs for older adults often adopt a reactive approach, focusing on addressing age-related challenges after they arise. While these programs can be beneficial, a proactive aging model offers a more comprehensive and empowering approach. The concept of proactive aging, emphasizing preventative strategies for maintaining and improving wellbeing, has been well-established in the literature (Kahana et al., 2014). By adopting this model, Cooperative Extension can significantly enhance its services for older adults. This paper proposes innovative program ideas grounded in the proactive aging framework. Such programs are more engaging as they foster self-efficacy and empowerment, encouraging participants to actively …
Using Gate And Key Systems To Engage Players With Varied Motivation Profiles, Wu Jin
Using Gate And Key Systems To Engage Players With Varied Motivation Profiles, Wu Jin
Level Design Theses and Dissertations
This study explores how literal gates and skill-based gates in level design can influence player behavior and align with different motivation profiles based on Nick Yee's Gamer Motivation Model [1]. The researcher created a single-player video game level using Dying Light 2, called "Electric Revival," to explore the appeal of literal gates and skill-based gates. The researcher expects that different types of players will exhibit distinct preferences for specific types of gates based on their motivation profiles, which align with their primary motivations. The researcher recruited 14 playtesters, of varying motivation types, to play the level and share their …
Anti-Union Regulation And The Opioid Crisis, Kelly Chen, Samia Islam
Anti-Union Regulation And The Opioid Crisis, Kelly Chen, Samia Islam
Economics Faculty Publications and Presentations
Existing literature provides ample evidence of the detrimental impact of de-unionization on various determinants of individual health. However, there is a lack of direct empirical research linking de-unionization to objective health outcomes. By leveraging the differential timing of Right-to-Work law implementation across four states in the United States, we quantify the role of union presence in opioid misuse. Using a synthetic control method, our analysis reveals a persistent decline in unionization rates in the affected states within 4-6 years of RTW enactment. This reduction precipitated a considerable increase in both nonfatal and fatal overdoses, as measured by opioid-related treatment admissions …
The Best We Can Hope For: The Irony Of The Best Interest Standard, Alesondra Cruz
The Best We Can Hope For: The Irony Of The Best Interest Standard, Alesondra Cruz
Notre Dame Law Review Reflection
Laws are often designed with an eye toward precision. Specific words are chosen, others deliberately removed, with each revision seeking to bring a rule closer to its intended purpose. Despite this deliberate process, even the most curated laws at times fail to serve their intended ends, and instead become sources of harm. This reality, unfortunate and unavoidable, is the irony of law.
This tension is particularly evident in the context of family law, where negative ramifications are felt personally and intimately, and in child custody cases, where the stakes are incredibly high. The best interest of the child standard was …

A Guidebook For Occupational Therapy Practitioners To Promote Adaptive Sports, Ivy M. Shimkus, Heather Rennerfeldt, Angela Blackwell
Fall 2025 OTD Capstone Symposium
Adaptive sports offer meaningful physical, social, and emotional benefits for adolescents with disabilities; however, many occupational therapy (OT) practitioners report limited training and resources to support these activities within practice. This capstone project aimed to address this gap by developing Sports for All, an educational guidebook designed to help OT practitioners promote engagement in adaptive sports among adolescents with disabilities. Guided by the Canadian Model of Occupational Performance and Engagement and the PERMA well-being framework, the project emphasized the importance of person, environment, occupation, and positive psychological factors that support meaningful engagement in activities that promote overall well-being in …

The Teaching Librarian's Role In College Reading, Lori Spradley
The Southeastern Librarian
Reading is an essential function for everything people learn. The main goal of reading is for readers to interpret, comprehend, and receive meaning from the text. Academic reading differs from standard reading. It is a complex form implemented throughout all subjects in higher educational institutions. Academic reading involves a detailed and critical approach, whereas standard reading is casual and typically involves briefly skimming over information. Students entering college are often unprepared to comprehend the complicated reading materials and manage the heavy reading load required for their class assignments. To be successful in college, students must understand different terminology and styles …
