Peer Mentoring And Teacher Collaboration: A Case Study Of Practices And Self-Efficacy In A Rural Title I School, Whitney Ensley

Dissertations

This qualitative case study examined how peer mentoring influences teacher self-efficacy at a rural elementary school in southeastern Georgia. Using Bandura's self-efficacy theory and Wenger's communities of practice framework, the research investigated how teachers engage in mentoring relationships and how these practices contribute to professional growth.

Semi-structured interviews and reflection journals were conducted with ten elementary teachers representing diverse experience levels (1-21+ years) and grade levels. Findings revealed that meaningful peer mentoring occurred primarily through informal, trust-based relationships within grade-level teams rather than formal programs. Teachers engaged collaboratively in lesson planning, data analysis, and problem-solving.

Results demonstrated that peer mentoring …

Consistent with the transactional theory of stress and coping, individuals with less power to regulate their environment will require greater ability to regulate themselves in accordance with their changing …

High Test-Retest Reliability Of Nucleus Accumbens Activity During Reward Anticipation, Nathaniel Bouton Dec 2025

High Test-Retest Reliability Of Nucleus Accumbens Activity During Reward Anticipation, Nathaniel Bouton

Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Recent research has questioned the reliability of Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (FMRI). The findings suggest poor test-retest reliability of FMRI measures across brain areas and tasks, and specifically in subcortical brain areas during reward-related tasks. Further, data from the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) study showed low reliability and low stability of the fitted coefficients from whole-brain regression analyses of the Monetary Incentive Delay (MID) task. However, optimizing methods might improve reliability, for example: (1) acquiring single-band rather than multi-band FMRI sequences, (2) extracting raw activity rather than fitted coefficients, and (3) honing analyses to target brain areas during specific …

Mental Health In Adult Oncology Patients, Jenna Pope Dec 2025

Mental Health In Adult Oncology Patients, Jenna Pope

Capstones

Adults with cancer suffer from mental challenges that frequently go under diagnosed and under treated (Fernando et al., 2023). This can lead to lower quality of life, resulting in reduced adherence to treatment, more frequent hospital stays, increased healthcare costs, and increased mortality rates (Matthews et al., 2025). There are currently no policies on mental health screening for adult oncology patients at every outpatient appointment. By consistently utilizing standardized screening tools such as the PHQ-9 and GAD-7 during all oncology appointments, this can close the gap in policy to address mental health needs of these individuals. It is vital to …

The Heroine's Journey: Together We Rise A Comparative Analysis Of The Forgotten Beasts Of Eld And When Women Were Dragons, Kirsten Mann Dec 2025

The Heroine's Journey: Together We Rise A Comparative Analysis Of The Forgotten Beasts Of Eld And When Women Were Dragons, Kirsten Mann

English

This thesis examines isolation, solitude, and the search for community in The Forgotten Beasts of Eld (1974) by Patricia A. McKillip and When Women Were Dragons (2022) by Kelly Barnhill through the lens of Maureen Murdock’s The Heroine’s Journey (1990). While Joseph Campbell’s Hero with a Thousand Faces (1949) has long shaped critical understandings of narrative transformation, its masculine focus leaves the solitary heroine’s experience underexplored. Murdock’s framework reframes the journey as one of healing the split between the masculine and feminine within both the individual and the culture.

Sybel and Alex, the heroines of these two novels, begin in …

Everyday Life In The Work Of Virginia Woolf, Diana Saverin Dec 2025

Everyday Life In The Work Of Virginia Woolf, Diana Saverin

English

This paper argues that Virginia Woolf’s fiction and nonfiction are devoted to representing everyday life — what she termed “moments of non-being” or the “cotton wool” of daily existence. Through close readings of The Years, Mrs. Dalloway, The Waves, and To The Lighthouse, I demonstrate how Woolf’s attention to the mundane captures the kinds of ordinary experiences that often elude representation, frames engagement with daily life as essential to psychological survival and exposes the gendered nature of domesticity. In Mrs. Dalloway and The Waves, characters who sustain interest in everyday routines survive, while those unable to balance moments of being …
