Bodies Will Be Bodies?: A Case For Legitimate Body Objectiveness, Renz Villacampa
Bodies Will Be Bodies?: A Case For Legitimate Body Objectiveness, Renz Villacampa
Mabini Review
Confined in spatiotemporal structures and relations, the body is caught in the linearity of economic production and the rigidity of ideological imperatives. In this setup, the objectiveness of the body is suspected of putting a person to a limit. This further interrogates and accuses the body of facilitating its own objectification. Here, I challenged prominent objections to the objectiveness of the body, particularly those coming from Marcel and the early/material feminist traditions. I then put forward a case in which the active-operative instrumentalization of the body is legitimized sans discounting the body as an addendum or mere physical extension. Further, …

Mitchell and colleagues (Reference Mitchell, Haslam, Burke and Steffense2026) provide a well-reasoned, sound, and thought-provoking case for why HR practices can promote or discourage narcissistic tendencies in leaders. Acknowledging their contribution, we offer two points of pushback and one point of extension based on those areas of pushback. The first point of pushback is that counter to the authors, we contend that hypercompetitive selection methods that seek to identify the best leadership candidate, although not ideal, are necessary. Do such processes (e.g., head hunting, in-depth assessment centers) admittedly have the potential to inflate individual egos and promote narcissistic …

Mentorship As Identity Work: The Meaning Black Queer Men Ascribe To Mentorship In Identity Development And Professional Identity Formation, Kai Christian
JWU Dissertations & Theses
This descriptive-phenomenological study examined the role of mentorship in shaping identity. There is limited literature that examines mentorship as an identity-shaping process among Black queer men (BQM). Intersectional and Black queer theory provided the theoretical framework for thematic analysis.
Within the workplace, BQM must negotiate the effects of double marginalization resulting from racism and anti-queer biases. The effects of racism and anti-queer biases can lead to adverse psychological and physical health outcomes, negatively impacting the careers of Black and queer individuals. BQM benefit from support that addresses and acknowledges how their identity shapes their experiences. Mentorship can provide …

Ventilator Weaning Through Spontaneous Breathing Trials In Children With Tetralogy Of Fallot In The Picu: A Case Report, Megah Fitrian, Kadek Ayu Erika, Muhammad Yunus
Jurnal Keperawatan Indonesia
Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) is a congenital heart defect that causes chronic low oxygen levels, increased right ventricular workload, and a higher risk of complications. Weaning mechanical ventilation in patients with TOF is particularly challenging due to right ventricular dysfunction, muscle weakness, and the risk of heart failure. This study evaluates the use of a spontaneous breathing trial (SBT) strategy with pressure support ventilation (PSV) mode for mechanical ventilation weaning in pediatric patients with TOF. An observational study was conducted on a six-year-old pediatric patient with TOF and a cerebral abscess who underwent mechanical ventilation weaning using the SBT technique …

The United States has increasingly recognized its reputation as a prison state, with widespread acknowledgment of its high incarceration rates. As of 2021, the United States imprisoned one out of every five prisoners in the world. Additionally, of its own population, the United States imprisoned one out of every one hundred people. In response to this notoriety, worsening prison overcrowding, and the heightened risks posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and the federal government increased their utilization of alternative measures to traditional incarceration. As both an addition and an alternative to traditional incarceration, criminal …

Ai As Scaffold To Re-Center Human Reasoning In Student Learning, Rachid Ait Maalem Lahcen
Ai As Scaffold To Re-Center Human Reasoning In Student Learning, Rachid Ait Maalem Lahcen
Teaching Online Pedagogical Repository
The increasing availability of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools has renewed concerns about the role of human reasoning in student learning. Although AI systems can efficiently generate explanations, uncritical reliance on automated outputs risks diminishing students’ engagement with interpretation and justification. This paper presents an instructional strategy that attempts to re-centers human reasoning by positioning AI as a scaffold rather than a substitute for thinking. The strategy emphasizes structured evaluation of AI-generated content through activities such as step-checking with reflection, error analysis, and dual-method verification. These activities are grounded in research‑based principles that have been shown to effectively support student …

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are among the most common outpatient infections in the United States; most are uncomplicated and resolve without significant mortality or morbidity. However, UTIs have the potential to present significant clinical challenges if the UTI becomes complicated or recurrent. Additionally, recurrent UTIs can carry a significant burden to both the individual patients and the larger healthcare system. The current paper reviews the epidemiological literature surrounding UTIs, the significant impact they have on a patient’s health-related quality …

BACKGROUND: There is consensus that research participants should be informed about plans for return of genetic research results. However, best practices for return of results in large biobank and cohort studies do not exist currently, and how best to communicate actionable genetic research results remains unclear. While having genetic counselors disclose these results may be ideal to ensure understanding, minimize distress, and optimize medical follow-up, genetic counselor (GC) workforce shortages and costs are barriers. The RESPECT3 study evaluates whether digital delivery alternatives for pre-disclosure education and return of actionable genetic research results is non-inferior to remote telehealth disclosure by a …

Impact Of Tropical Cyclones On Food And Nutrition Security: A Global Scoping Review And Thematic Analysis, Patience M. Chiotha, Budi Haryanto
Jurnal Epidemiologi Kesehatan Indonesia
The increasing frequency and intensity of tropical cyclones driven by climate change pose growing threats to food and nutrition security. Globally, an estimated 80–90 tropical cyclones occur annually, affecting approximately 119 million people. Evidence regarding their impact on food systems, dietary patterns, and nutritional status remains fragmented. This scoping review aimed to map global evidence on the impacts of tropical cyclones on food and nutrition security, identify key pathways of impact, and examine affected indicators at household and individual levels. The review followed Joanna Briggs Institute guidelines and PRISMA-ScR. Searches were conducted in PubMed/MEDLINE, Web of Science, Scopus, and Google …

Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Sciences Faculty Articles and Research
Biology is the study of life, but students often hold misconceptions about what it means to be alive, with children often associating life with movement. These misconceptions can lead to biases in what students think is alive, with younger children often not thinking of plants as living given their lack of discernable movement. Despite this past work, there have been no prior studies that we are aware of that have examined how students in introductory biology conceptualize what it means to be alive. Here, we draw upon a fortuitous dataset collected from an in-class activity done on the first day …

Mabini Review
The paper highlights a thorough discussion of the vast influence and prominence of Korean dramas (Koreanobela) in the Philippines, which has become a central focus among critics in the discourse of film and television. Their rise in popularity has fostered an appreciation for both local and foreign spaces that continue to shape and influence Filipino culture. Although the importation of films from Latin American countries—an influence rooted in Spanish colonization—is not new in the Philippines, the unparalleled appeal of Korean dramas in capturing the attention of Filipino audiences cannot be denied. To identify the reasons behind this fascination, the researcher …
