Quality Improvement Project: Faculty Preparedness For Recognition, De Escalation, And Reporting Of Violence In Clinical Education Settings, Dawn "Deedee" D. Moline
Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects
Violence and aggression in healthcare settings present ongoing safety concerns for nursing faculty supervising students during clinical education, particularly when teaching occurs in hospital environments where faculty are not employed. Faculty often rotate across multiple clinical sites and may lack consistent preparation or access to standardized safety education and reporting systems. The purpose of this Doctor of Nursing Practice quality improvement project was to evaluate the effect of a targeted educational intervention on nursing faculty perceived preparedness to recognize, de escalate, and report aggression encountered during clinical instruction. Guided by Bandura’s Social Cognitive Theory and Lewin’s Three Stage Change Model, …

Quality Improvement Project: Improving The Clinical Teaching Experience Through Clinical Adjunct Orientation, Elissa Saunders
Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects
Clinical adjunct nursing faculty often transition into academic roles without formal preparation, leading to role insecurity and high turnover rates that negatively impact student clinical experiences. The purpose of this quality improvement (QI) project was to implement a structured orientation checklist to improve perceived clinical teaching competency among novice clinical adjunct faculty. The project aimed to standardize onboarding and support the transition from clinical practice to academia. A quantitative pre-post intervention design was used with a convenience sample of clinical adjunct faculty employed for less than one year at a rural university nursing program. The project was guided by Kotter’s …

Does Music Education Improve Test Scores?, Claire Mclaughlin
Psychology Student Publications
Music programs are often among the first to be reduced when schools face budget constraints. Yet many educators believe that music education contributes to students’ broader academic success. This paper examines whether music education improves test scores? Drawing on longitudinal studies, quasi-experimental research, and correlational analyses, this paper explores the relationship between music training and academic performance, particularly in reading and mathematics. Research suggests that students who participate in music education often demonstrate improved executive functioning, academic competence, and standardized achievement scores. Helping Others To Help Yourself: Effects Of Prosocial Behavior On Anxiety And Depression, Matheus Muniz Pereira Vargas
Helping Others To Help Yourself: Effects Of Prosocial Behavior On Anxiety And Depression, Matheus Muniz Pereira Vargas
Psychology Student Publications
Helping others is a good way to help prevent psychological disorders. The literature reviewed here points towards a protective and mitigating effect on symptoms of anxiety and depression brought upon by prosocial behaviors. Prosocial behavior is associated with higher positive moods in participants with depression (Schacter & Margolin, 2019), it is negatively correlated with feelings of reported rates of depression, anxiety and isolation (Naclerio et al., 2026), and seems to have a protective effect against development and exacerbation of anxiety (Okuyucu et al., 2024). All of that indicates that encouraging these behaviors lead to more positive mental health outcomes without …

Of Another Order: Constructing The Everyday Elsewhere, Hannah Yandoh
Of Another Order: Constructing The Everyday Elsewhere, Hannah Yandoh
Theses
This thesis investigates the intersection of contemporary painting and ceramics through the critical framework of Situationist thought, using it as a lens to destabilize binary systems of meaning. Ceramic forms are treated both as physical structure and as metaphor. The project draws on Situationist ideas to question authorship, value, and artistic authority, while embracing naïve and unresolved visual strategies. Repetition, variation, and spatial ambiguity shape works that exist between object and gesture, especially within the domestic sphere. Combining studio experimentation, material exploration, and surface intervention, this work proposes a hybrid practice where 2D and 3D operate together as interdependent destabilizing …

Do We Even Know What ‘Even’ Does? A Ca Investigation, Emily Johnson
Do We Even Know What ‘Even’ Does? A Ca Investigation, Emily Johnson
Comm-entary
Emily is a Senior communication major with a Business Administration minor. She is originally from Merrimack, NH, and is planning on working in PR or something similar when she graduates in May.
What does “even” do in conversation? This study shows that when used mid-turn, “even” functions as a systematic device for intensifying stance. Analyzing naturally occurring interactions, I demonstrate how speakers use “even” to upgrade assessments, noticings, and complaints, making them more extreme or noteworthy. Recipients consistently orient to this intensification through agreement, accounts, or escalation. Even when the upgrade is left incomplete, others step in to realize it, …

The Missing Link Between Occupational Therapy And Hemodialysis: Program Development And Implementing Intradialytic Ot In A Rural Hospital Setting, Madison Maki
Capstone Projects
Occupational therapy (OT) has demonstrated effectiveness in supporting individuals undergoing hemodialysis, a life‑altering yet lifesaving treatment for end‑stage renal disease (ESRD) and chronic kidney disease (CKD). Despite this, hospitalized patients who require dialysis often receive reduced rehabilitation services due to the time‑intensive nature of dialysis and the productivity demands placed on therapists. Additionally, gaps in therapist knowledge regarding the unique functional deficits and educational needs of this population further limit service delivery.
