A Dual- Task Hierarchical Graph Attention Network For Protein-Protein Interaction Sites Prediction, Oras A. Hussein, Eman S. Al-Shamery
A Dual- Task Hierarchical Graph Attention Network For Protein-Protein Interaction Sites Prediction, Oras A. Hussein, Eman S. Al-Shamery
Journal of Intelligent Informatics, Networking, and Cybersecurity
In computational structural biology, it is still very hard to accurately find protein-protein interaction (PPI) sites and estimate how strong the interaction would be. In this research, we provide an innovative two-stage deep learning framework that combines residue-level graph representation learning with protein-level regression to achieve a thorough modeling of protein interactions. Protein structures first encoded as residue graphs, with nodes that stand for amino acids and edges that show how close they are to each other in space. To find binding residues, a deep residual Graph Attention Network v2 (GATv2) uses multi-head attention, residual connections, and Jumping Knowledge aggregation …
Between Tradition And Profession: Intersectionality Of Javanese Women Journalists In Surakarta’S Newsroom, Rahman Hakim, Vanggi Eka Riski
Between Tradition And Profession: Intersectionality Of Javanese Women Journalists In Surakarta’S Newsroom, Rahman Hakim, Vanggi Eka Riski
JURNAL KOMUNIKASI INDONESIA
Javanese female journalists in Surakarta navigate the simultaneous pressures of professional journalism and deeply internalised Javanese cultural values such as nrimo (acceptance of one’s circumstances), andhap asor (humble and deferential conduct), and tepa selira (attentiveness to the feeling of others). These values shape their everyday conduct in the newsroom yet often remain unacknowledged in existing literature. Combining Intersectionality Theory, Face-Negotiation Theory (Ting-Toomey), and Self Theory (Rogers) as complementary frameworks, this qualitative study adopts a constructivist paradigm and employ phenomenological method to explore how female journalists make sense of the intersection between gender norms and local cultural values. Data were collected …

Spectral Analysis Of Silicate Dust Models In Planetary Nebulae, Victoria Kelly, Ben Howard, Angela Webber
Spectral Analysis Of Silicate Dust Models In Planetary Nebulae, Victoria Kelly, Ben Howard, Angela Webber
Summer Interdisciplinary Research Symposium
Planetary nebulae (PNe) contain either carbon-based or oxygen-based dust or a combination of the two, though the exact molecular composition remains unknown. Here we analyze oxygen-rich PNe, whose dust is suspected to include silicate (SiO2)n clusters. We use methods of computational quantum mechanics to determine the equilibrium structures of (SiO2)n clusters for n=12−24 and analyze their stability and structural features. We then calculate the binding energy and the infrared (IR) spectra of the most stable silicate structures for each value of n. By comparing these spectra to observed spectra of oxygen-rich PNe, we hope …

For proper use, the instrument must be calibrated in such a way that the user knows the accuracy and precision of its readings. Sets of vapor-deposited standards …
Equivocation Analysis Across Continuous And Discrete Memoryless Channels, Md Munibun Billah
Equivocation Analysis Across Continuous And Discrete Memoryless Channels, Md Munibun Billah
Theses and Dissertations
Physical-layer security uses the noise already present in the channel to keep a message secret without making any assumption about the eavesdropper's computing power. In Wyner's wiretap channel model, coset coding uses randomness to map the message to many codewords and protects against information leakage from an active eavesdropper. The secrecy provided by such codes is measured by their equivocation, which is the eavesdropper's remaining uncertainty about the message after she observes her channel. So computing equivocation is an important aspect of analyzing the wiretap channel model. Many channels of practical interest have no closed-form expression for equivocation, and exact …
Entrepreneurship Ecosystems, Desire, And Convergence, Kyle Scott
Entrepreneurship Ecosystems, Desire, And Convergence, Kyle Scott
Journal of Business & Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship ecosystem research explains convergence through mechanisms such as informational cascades, institutional isomorphism, herding, clustering, and knowledge spillovers. While these perspectives account for how convergence occurs, they provide a more limited explanation of why entrepreneurs, investors, and other ecosystem participants come to pursue the same ventures, industries, and measures of success. This paper argues that convergence reflects the social mediation of desire. Drawing on René Girard's theory of mimetic desire, it develops a conceptual framework explaining how entrepreneurial desire becomes aligned within shared evaluative environments. The paper advances three propositions. First, ecosystems characterized by evaluative monism are more likely to …

Experimental Evaluation Of Membranes In The Recovery Of Hydrogen From Serpentinization, Rafael Dos Santos
LSU Master's Theses
Natural hydrogen generated through serpentinization reactions has emerged as a promising low-carbon energy resource. However, serpentinization-derived gas streams commonly contain methane (CH₄) and carbon dioxide (CO₂), requiring purification before hydrogen can be utilized in industrial applications. Membrane-based gas separation technologies offer a potentially cost-effective solution for hydrogen recovery; however, to the best of the author's knowledge, no previous studies have specifically investigated their application to serpentinization-derived gas streams.
This work evaluates the performance of two commercial polymeric membrane modules (Evonik and Generon) and one palladium-copper (Pd-Cu) membrane module (Okaya) for hydrogen recovery from gas compositions representative of serpentinization environments. An …

Objective: The purpose of this review was to determine whether trained diabetic alert dogs (DADs) provide detection accuracy comparable to continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) for hypo- and hyperglycemic events in adults with type 1 or type 2 diabetes.
Methods: A narrative literature review was conducted using UpToDate and Google Scholar. Studies involving adults with type 1 or type 2 diabetes that reported glucose detection accuracy for DADs or CGMs were included. Pediatric-only and non-glucose-detection studies were excluded. Because few direct head-to-head studies lasting 6 months or longer were available, shorter-duration studies were included as supporting evidence. Outcomes included sensitivity, specificity, …
