Llm-Integrated Anomaly Detection For Iot Networks: Framework Structure, Mamoon M. Saeed, Rashid A. Saeed, Salah Hagahmoodi, Rania A. Mokhtar, Khalid Hamid
Baghdad Science Journal
Internet of Things (IoT) devices are vulnerable to zero-day attacks because most of them have weak or no inherent security due to the resource constraints of the devices. This weakness underscores the growing need for anomaly-based intrusion detection systems tailored to IoT networks. Nevertheless, general anomaly detection traditionally has a high number of false positives that drain analysts' time. Also, a semantic difference exists between the system's results and the operators' interpretations. We introduce a machine learning-based framework to tackle these issues in traditional systems in this paper by combining large language models (LLMs). Our model is effective in identifying …

Allograft Tendon Pretensioning Technique Guide., Joseph R Brown, Robert W Mendicino
Surgery Articles
In foot and ankle surgery, allograft tendons are frequently used in both primary and revision cases to enhance stability and function. However, postoperative complications, such as creep, can compromise the intended correction and stability over time. This paper presents a practical guide on pretensioning techniques prior to implantation, aiming to reduce creep and improve long-term outcomes. Using two common allograft specimens, we demonstrate pretensioning methods with specific focus on tendon stitching, techniques for securing the allograft to the graft board, optimal tensioning and time parameters. We recommend pretensioning at 80 N for approximately 30 min to effectively decrease creep and …

Representations Of Cartel Leaders In Narcocorridos: A Reflexive Thematic Analysis, Gael Gamboa
Representations Of Cartel Leaders In Narcocorridos: A Reflexive Thematic Analysis, Gael Gamboa
Theses and Dissertations
Narcocorridos have become one of the most recognized expressions of narcoculture in Mexico. Despite growing scholarly interest in narcoculture, relatively few studies have examined how cartel leaders are represented across narcocorridos. This study addresses this gap by examining the symbolic representations of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo, and Amado Carrillo Fuentes in narcocorrido lyrics. The study is guided by cultural criminology and subculture theory; this study employed a qualitative research design using reflexive thematic analysis. A purposive sample of 25 narcocorridos was analyzed to identify recurring patterns in the representation of cartel leadership. As a result, six …

Personal Authenticity For Engagement And Transfer In Introductory Cybersecurity Education, Daniel T. Hickey, Ronald J. Kantor
Journal of Cybersecurity Education, Research and Practice
Abstract—This conceptual/theoretical paper explores how personal authenticity might promote generative learning in introductory cybersecurity courses. Generative learning transfers confidently to future educational, professional, personal, and testing situations. This cycle of design-based research addresses the concern that more typical professionally authentic contexts (e.g., hospitals, banks, etc.) may be alien and overwhelming to many students, particularly those in introductory courses and/or from non-professional families and communities. If so, this leads to “inert” knowledge that does not transfer. Personal authenticity is rooted in expansive framing, a modern theory of learning transfer. We reframe expansive framing as personal authenticity to make it …

Although microsatellite missions under 100 kg have demonstrated advanced capabilities in detecting localized CO2 and CH4 emissions, the effectiveness of these systems hinges on their spatial and temporal coverage and observation validity under diverse environmental conditions.
Factors such as solar zenith angle (SZA), viewing zenith angle (VZA), surface albedo, weather, and source persistence influence their performance.
Against this background, this study evaluates the spatial and temporal coverage performance of microsatellite-based GHG observation systems through numerical simulations incorporating environmental and instrumental conditions.

In traditional CubeSat configurations, the Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) circuit acts as a critical single point of failure because all harvested solar energy is funneled through a single, non-redundant conversion stage. Consequently, the failure of this individual component completely blocks power delivery to the system, permanently stranding otherwise healthy solar arrays and batteries and causing catastrophic mission termination.
This work introduces a modular, stackable solar energy architecture that distributes power conditioning across multiple identical, autonomous modules connected to shared PV and battery buses. By relying purely on analog input-voltage regulation at a common operating point, it eliminates radiation-vulnerable digital …

- Growing dependence on space-based assets (telecom, transport, grid, GPS) = growing space-weather exposure
- A Carrington-class storm today would mean cascading failures and losses in the trillions
- Current assets (e.g. GOES, ACE, DSCOVR) are excellent but large, costly, and with minutes to hours of alert latency from ground processing; weak coverage off the Earth–Sun line, where multi-point views could untangle the solar flare/SEP/ CME chain
- The Space Weather Alerting Platform (SWAP) concept mission (right) is a low-cost, 3U cubesat solution for proliferated solar monitoring with low-latency onboard AI alerting
Environmental Durability Of Silver Teflon Fep Thermal Control Tape Protected By A Sio2/Nicr Backcoat, Warren Su, Brian Phan
Environmental Durability Of Silver Teflon Fep Thermal Control Tape Protected By A Sio2/Nicr Backcoat, Warren Su, Brian Phan
Small Satellite Conference
Silver Teflon® FEP thermal control tapes are widely used on small satellites due to their low solar absorptance and high infrared emittance. However, long-term operation in low Earth orbit (LEO) is often limited by degradation mechanisms associated with atomic oxygen (AO), ultraviolet (UV) radiation, and thermal cycling. In particular, silver–adhesive interactions and defect-mediated undercutting have been identified, based on results from NASA’s Long Duration Exposure Facility (LDEF) mission (5.7 years in LEO), as primary contributors to the increase in solar absorptance over mission life. This work investigates a SiO2/NiCr protective backcoat film stack sputtered on top of the …

We present measurements demonstrating that copper-oxide high-temperature superconductors can exhibit broken time-reversal symmetry in the absence of external magnetic fields. Using Tl2Ba2CaCu2O8 microbridges, we observe a pronounced superconducting diode effect at 100 K under strictly zero-field conditions. This nonreciprocal response remains unchanged in magnetic fields up to ±100 Oe. Our results are consistent with recent reports of zero-field diode behavior in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+𝛿 and together they indicate that time-reversal symmetry breaking may be an intrinsic property of the cuprate superconducting state. These findings provide an additional experimental …

Engaging in critical rhetorical theory and methodology, we interrogate the contemporary landscape of anti-trans backlash in women’s sport. Specifically, we read the ‘TERF wars’ (Pearce et al.) across critiques of biofeminism (Pape) and whiteness (Fischer) while drawing upon critical social science research into trauma-bonding, bullying, and the structural impacts of gender verification policies. Our analysis focuses on the Women’s Sports Policy Working Group (WSPWG), offering a trauma-informed reading of the WSPWG’s ‘Position’ statement to illuminate how lesbian female athletes who were previously slandered for failing to meet femininity norms in sport are unable to overcome that trauma to recognize and …

Deep Learning-Based Burned Area Mapping Of California Wildfires Using Sentinel-2 And Landsat-8 Imagery Enhanced With Super-Resolution Techniques, Youngmin Seo, Seung Hee Kim, Menas Kafatos, Jinsoo Kim, Yangwon Lee
Institute for ECHO Articles and Research
The increasing frequency of wildfires under a changing climate has led to extensive ecosystem destruction, highlighting the need for reliable burned area assessment using satellite imagery. Single-satellite data are constrained by observation gaps and interference from smoke and clouds, whereas multi-satellite data fusion can mitigate these limitations. Nonetheless, the fusion techniques still encounter challenges such as spatial information loss from resolution differences and cross-satellite domain mismatch. This study presents a burned area mapping framework that integrates super-resolution (SR) with transfer learning to address spatial and domain gaps in multi-satellite data. Specifically, Landsat-8 imagery is super-resolved to 7.5 m resolution, and …

The purpose of this perspective paper is to present a translational approach aimed at identifying the critical periods in brain development during which to provide neuroprotective and neurorestorative strategies, followed by prehensile training, to minimize hemiparesis and foster skill acquisition after asymmetrical perinatal brain injury (APBI). We contend that hemiparesis could be minimized after APBI through a multimodal sequential approach based on timely implementation of evidence-based intervention strategies. If APBI is identified early, neuroprotective techniques can be used in the first 10 days of life to minimize cell death. This can be followed in the next 3 months by the …

Longevity and stress resilience require precise coordination of gene expression programs across tissues. Here, we demonstrate that overexpression of the chromatin reader bet-1 specifically in neurons of Caenorhabditis elegans promotes organismal longevity and stress resistance via cell-nonautonomous signaling. Neuronal bet-1 elicits a neurotransmitter-dependent signal that activates the conserved stress-responsive transcription factor HSF-1 in the intestine, enhancing proteostasis, oxidative stress resistance, metabolic remodeling, and immune defense. Life span extension by neuronal bet-1 requires both hsf-1 and daf-16 in neurons but only requires hsf-1 in peripheral tissues. Using bulk RNA sequencing, we reveal distinct prolongevity pathways that include enhanced heat-shock response, proteostasis, …

Fabrication Of Objectives For Imaging Ultracold Lithium, Danelle Akanova
Dartmouth College Master’s Theses
This thesis develops a documented, reproducible procedure for building diffraction-limited microscope objectives entirely from catalog singlets, for imaging ultracold 6Li atoms in a ring-trap experiment. The objectives must resolve micron-scale features through a 5 mm fused-silica vacuum window, operate at multiple wavelengths, fit inside a 48 mm magnet bore, and contain no conductive or magnetic material, because the surrounding coils switch 0.1 T fields on microsecond timescales. Commercial long-working-distance objectives are universally housed in metal, which the eddy-current constraint rules out, and custom fabrication of a suitable non-conductive matched pair is estimated at nearly $200k.
The procedure is developed and …

Onboard machine learning is an increasingly important topic in spaceflight systems, as machine learning and AI models are increasingly used for data processing, anomaly detection, attitude control systems, and other predictive applications. However, successfully deploying a machine learning model in a spaceflight computing environment is fraught with difficulty, as spaceflight computing environments are low-resource, but typical machine learning software solutions are implemented in languages like Python, which require an interpreter and other heavyweight dependencies. It is therefore virtually mandatory for any on-spacecraft machine learning to be written with lightweight toolkits that minimize dependencies and resource usage.
We demonstrate a solution …

SSTL has been developing a deployable telescope with funding from the UK Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA). The aim of the study was to design a telescope that could achieve higher resolutions in the visible spectrum while utilising a smaller launch volume. To achieve a cost-effective launch the deployable system has been sized such that it would fit within a representative SSTL platform in a SpaceX Falcon 9 small satellite launch volume. A monolithic system with equivalent performance would require a larger launch volume and, therefore, it is expected that a deployable telescope can secure an overall mission price advantage. …

Demanding radiometric accuracies and sensitivities at few tenths of a Kelvin at high spatial resolution are targeted for the instrument. These require a high accuracy in the characterization and modelling of the antenna pattern over 4π, considering any nearby scattering structure, and/or any potential multipath due to the antenna installation on the S/C, as well as the quantification of the uncertainty on the beam efficiency (BE) arising (from possible in-orbit random variations in the …

Renewed interest in lunar exploration and the development of a sustained cislunar economy has driven demand for low-cost missions supporting mapping, communications networks, navigation services, and scientific studies. Recent growth in rideshare opportunities to the Moon has made small-satellite architectures a viable and cost-effective approach for these missions. Successful execution of these missions, however, depends critically on fuel-efficient and reliable orbital insertion and maintenance strategies, as cislunar missions impose substantially higher delta V requirements than low-Earth orbit missions due to the inherent instability of low lunar orbits. Perturbations arising primarily from lunar mass concentrations drive secular growth in orbital eccentricity …
