Issue Addressed: Social network analysis (SNA) is a novel approach to investigating food security systems change in regional and remote communities. With short-term, siloed food security solutions often proving ineffective, this study used SNA to visualise how organisations across a vast area in Western Australia (WA) were working in partnership to support systems change and identify where these partnerships could be strengthened. Methods: One hundred and one food security initiative leaders, representing 148 initiatives, participated in semi-structured interviews. The number and type of regional partnerships were measured, and region-based partnership network typologies determined. Results: Most regions’ partnership networks were ‘Scattered …

Membrane surface modification is a promising strategy for fouling mitigation in membrane-based microalgae filtration, primarily by limiting the interactions between the membrane surface and the foulant particles. This study investigated the effectiveness of modified membranes in filtering Chlorella sp. MUR 269. First, three polyethersulfone membranes with varying pore sizes were evaluated to determine the influence of pore size on filtration performance and fouling behavior. The ultrafiltration membrane that exhibited the best performance was subsequently modified using two functional monomers: the zwitterionic [2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl]dimethyl (3-sulfopropyl) ammonium hydroxide and the negatively charged mono-2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl succinate (MMS). The filtration performance and fouling resistance of the …

Pelvic organ prolapse remains a common condition requiring durable surgical correction, with sacrocolpopexy considered the gold standard. Transvaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (vNOTES) has emerged as a scarless minimally invasive approach, while the integration of robotic single-port technology may further enhance surgical precision and ergonomics. However, data on robotic-assisted single-port vNOTES (RSP-vNOTES) sacrocolpopexy remains limited. We report a case of a 58-year-old Asian woman with symptomatic apical pelvic organ prolapse. The pelvic organ prolapse quantification (POP-Q) assessment demonstrated stage II uterine prolapse. She underwent robotic-assisted single-port vNOTES (RSP-vNOTES) sacrocolpopexy using the da Vinci single-port (SP) platform. The procedure was …
Weather And The Question Of Human Agency In Medieval Texts, Kaleigh Bennett
Weather And The Question Of Human Agency In Medieval Texts, Kaleigh Bennett
Undergraduate Theses and Capstone Projects
During the Middle Ages, humans and the weather were believed to have an inherently adversarial relationship. Understanding how people operate within the natural world is a difficult topic, and this especially holds true for a time that lacked modern scientific knowledge. While there is greater appreciation for how the weather is formed today, understanding of the weather during the medieval period was largely superstitious, especially during the early medieval period when pagan and Christian beliefs towards the environment began to overlap. According to Gillian Rudd’s essay “Being Green In Late Medieval English Literature” found within The Oxford Handbook of Ecocriticism …

Increasing Breastfeeding Rates: The Role Of Targeted Maternal Education, Saige O. Adams
Undergraduate Theses and Capstone Projects
About 83.2% of infants receive breast milk when first born, and then at three months, this number drops to 69.2%, again at six months, it drops to 55.8% (CDC, 2024). It is also noted that Central Virginia lags behind this national average. Based on this data, it has been discovered that some families do not breastfeed for as long as they intended to because of some unforeseen challenges or struggles that they were not aware of, like discomfort, time management, and stress. There are some mothers who end up in early cessation of breastfeeding because they were not properly equipped …

In September of 2025 “Fox & Friends” co-host Brian Kilmeade came under fire following remarks made in conversation with fellow co-host Lawrence Jones: JONES: They have given billions of dollars to mental health and the homeless population. A lot of them don’t want to take the programs, a lot of them don’t want to get the help that is necessary. You can’t give ‘em a choice. Either you take the resources that we’re gonna give you and—or, you decide, that you’re gonna be locked up in jail. That’s the way it has to be now. KILMEADE: Or, uh, involuntary lethal …

Extensive recent research has shown that it is surprisingly easy to infer Amazon Alexa voice commands over their network traffic data. To prevent these traffic analytics (TA)-based inference attacks, smart home owners are considering deploying virtual private networks (VPNs) to safeguard their smart speakers. In this work, we design a new machine learning-powered attack framework—VoiceAttack that could still accurately fingerprint voice commands on VPN-encrypted voice speaker network traffic. We evaluate VoiceAttack under 5 different real-world settings using Amazon Alexa and Google Home. Our results show that VoiceAttack could correctly infer voice command sentences with a Matthews Correlation Coefficient (MCC) of …

In many ethics classes, one of the early lessons is distinguishing between ethics and law. Ethics are the moral principles that guide decisions based on values, commitments, and purposes. Laws, by contrast, are formal rules enforced by social institutions to regulate behavior. Ethics and law frequently overlap: most people recognize that stealing is (almost always) ethically wrong, and it is also illegal. There are, of course, exceptions often discussed in ethics courses, such as the classic dilemma of stealing for a morally compelling purpose (e.g., to feed the poor).

Price Endings Of Online And Offline Retailers: Round And Just-Below Pricing, Kwanho Suk, Gaeun Kim, Dongwon Lee, Xuanting Jin
Asia Marketing Journal
This study investigates and compares price-ending strategies employed by online and offline retailers. Analyzing 210,456 prices from retailers in US, South Korea, and China reveals significant differences in price-ending between online and offline retail formats. Online retailers exhibit a lower propensity to utilize round prices (e.g., ending in 0) and just-below prices (e.g., ending in 9) than offline retailers. This research discusses potential explanations for these observed discrepancies, focusing on the distinct price-setting environments and consumer purchasing behaviors of online and offline retail.

Unpacking Virtual Influencer Persuasiveness: Effects Of Social Attributes, Self-Congruence, And Attachment On Brand Attitude And Purchase Intention, You Jin Song, Sejung Marina Choi
Asia Marketing Journal
As virtual influencers (VIs) increasingly function as prominent intermediaries in brand–consumer interactions, there is a critical need for systematic investigation into their impact on consumer behavior. This study empirically explores how specific attributes of VIs—competence, warmth, and eeriness—shape consumer perceptions, attachment, and brand engagement. Results indicate that competence and warmth significantly enhance VI attractiveness, whereas eeriness diminishes attractiveness and weakens consumer responses. Furthermore, attractiveness emerges as a primary determinant of consumer attachment to VIs, with actual self-congruence acting as a moderator that reduces this attachment. Notably, stronger consumer attachment fosters more positive brand attitudes, which subsequently elevate purchase intention. These …

Are You Ready To Embrace Ai-Generated Art? Exploring The Differential Effects Of Ai Versus Human Agents On Consumer Response, Seojin Stacey Lee, Yaeri Kim, Kiwan Park
Asia Marketing Journal
With a growing integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into creative domains, understanding its impact on consumer responses remains a critical area of inquiry. This research examines how agent type (AI vs. human) and art type (fine art vs. art-infused product) influences consumer purchase intention, along with the underlying psychological mechanism. Across three empirical studies, we find that consumers report higher purchase intention for art-infused products compared to fine art when created by AI. In contrast, this difference in purchase intention is diminished when the products are created by human artists. Perceived incompatibility functions as a moderated mediator in this process. …

Condition Monitoring Of Induction Motor Using Motor Current Signature Analysis, Francis Ikechukwu Obianke, Joseph Okhaifoh, Benjamin Akinloye
Condition Monitoring Of Induction Motor Using Motor Current Signature Analysis, Francis Ikechukwu Obianke, Joseph Okhaifoh, Benjamin Akinloye
Al-Bahir
Induction machines serve as the cornerstone and driving force of modern manufacturing and production systems. This research aims to monitor and analyse the operating performance of induction motors using motor current signature analysis (MCSA). MCSA is employed to process the current signal of a motor into a frequency spectrum, known as the current signature by applying the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) algorithm. The underlying principle is that vibration generated in a motor is closely related to the changes of the magnetic field density, and the induced voltage varies with the stator current.
A simulation model replicating the behaviour of an …

Reimagining Instructional Planning: Balancing Real-Life Experiences With Ai Instantaneity, Shaanii-Grace Robinson-Ritzdorf
Essays in Education
Instructional planning challenges teachers to balance creativity, time, and application of real-life experiences. Artificial intelligence (AI) offers rapid lesson ideas, personalized resources, and adaptive tools, yet uncritical use risks generic, disengaging instruction. This essay was based on the background study that examined elementary teachers’ integration of real-life experiences in science and math lessons in northwestern New Mexico through lesson plans, professional development materials, and interviews. Results revealed teacher-centered, procedural approaches with limited connection to students’ lived experiences, while personally designed lessons allowed greater flexibility for meaningful examples. Thoughtfully guided AI can bridge this gap, supporting scenario-based learning, differentiation, and student …
