Essays On Innovation And Financial Markets Cryptoassets And Other Financial Technologies, Zachary Ethan Glatzer Apr 2026

Essays On Innovation And Financial Markets Cryptoassets And Other Financial Technologies, Zachary Ethan Glatzer

Electronic Theses and Dissertations 2020 - Present

In this manuscript, I present essays that examine the role of innovation in financial markets. The first essay introduces a classification framework for cryptoassets. Existing approaches either apply overly broad economic-function criteria or rely on narrow legal definitions, neither of which adequately captures the diversity of digital assets. This essay proposes a two-track framework that integrates both functional roles and technical structure. By bridging the gap between traditional asset categories and emerging digital instruments, this framework offers actionable guidance for policymakers assessing regulatory treatment, practitioners evaluating risk profiles, and academics engaged in research at the intersection of digital finance and …

Testing Effects Of Acoustic Propagation, Morphology, And Intrasexual Selection On The Elaboration And Performance Of Song In Bachman’S Sparrows (Peucaea Aestivalis), Hans Kayser Gonzembach Apr 2026

Testing Effects Of Acoustic Propagation, Morphology, And Intrasexual Selection On The Elaboration And Performance Of Song In Bachman’S Sparrows (Peucaea Aestivalis), Hans Kayser Gonzembach

Electronic Theses and Dissertations 2020 - Present

Birdsong is a communication signal shaped by ecological, morphological, and cultural processes. While many songbird species produce relatively simple vocal repertoires, others, such as the Bachman’s Sparrow (Peucaea aestivalis), produce moderately large repertoires with multiple distinct and context-dependent song categories. Despite this complexity, little is known about the major drivers that shape song elaboration in this species. Additionally, it is unclear whether abiotic factors play a significant role in determining how different song types are learned and shared within a population. To better understand how ecological and social pressures shape song variation, I conducted three studies using Bachman’s …

Does Culture Translate? A Case Study On Artificial Intelligencegenerated Text Concerning Japanese-Style Employment, Kanji Kitamura Apr 2026

Does Culture Translate? A Case Study On Artificial Intelligencegenerated Text Concerning Japanese-Style Employment, Kanji Kitamura

Languages, Literatures, and Cultures Faculty Publications

Translation matters to international business when it has a discernible impact on firm performance or critical business processes. Current developments include machine translation, which is evolving in tandem with generative artificial intelligence (AI). On one hand, useful translation apps have become available to help the public communicate internationally. On the other hand, recent research concludes that even machine translation's best output still requires post-editing by a human. This argument implies that a machine-translated, grammatically accurate text may not always make sense to a human audience, possibly because of a semantic-pragmatic issue beyond the lexical level. This paper regards it as …

Impact Of Collodion Thickness On Fission Track Generation Within Lexan Employed For Nuclear Forensic Analyses, Ryan K. Chapman, Zachary P. Meisel, Abigail A. Bickley Apr 2026

Impact Of Collodion Thickness On Fission Track Generation Within Lexan Employed For Nuclear Forensic Analyses, Ryan K. Chapman, Zachary P. Meisel, Abigail A. Bickley

Faculty Publications

We report results from a computational study of fission track damage within a Lexan substrate caused by 235U suspended within a collodion film of varied thickness. MCNP6.3 was used to model energy deposition and displacements per atom within a Lexan film coated by a film of collodion, located within the air-filled 6 inch dry tube of a TRIGA reactor. The collodion layer was varied between 20 and 100 μm thickness, resulting in an 8.8% difference in energy deposition and 12% difference in displacements-per-atom within the Lexan substrate. These findings indicate that collodion adhesive thickness has a moderate impact on …

Living To Die: Life Imprisonment Without Remission Or Parole In India, Preeti Pratishruti Dash, Rushil Batra Apr 2026

Living To Die: Life Imprisonment Without Remission Or Parole In India, Preeti Pratishruti Dash, Rushil Batra

Articles

This article critically examines the Supreme Court of India’s use of life imprisonment without the possibility of remission or parole (LWORP) as a sentencing alternative to the death penalty. While the Constitution Bench in V Sriharan vs Union of India (2015) upheld the constitutionality of such sentences, it did not articulate principled standards governing their imposition. This article argues that the absence of such standards has produced a vacuum in LWORP sentencing. To substantiate this claim, we analyse fifty-three Supreme Court judgments delivered between 2016 and 2024 in which death sentences were commuted to LWORP. The analysis reveals widespread inconsistency …

Physical Therapy Assessment Of Work Capacity Gaps In Transition-Aged Youth With Intellectual And Developmental Disabilities, Katelyn Malick, Delaney Roberts, Rachel Ray, Marla Smith, Rhonda Haitz, Anne Woodruff Jameson

Posters and Presentations: Physical Therapy

Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs) experience disproportionately low employment rates despite expressing a strong desire for community integrated employment. This study examined whether discrepancies exist between the current work capacity of adolescents and young adults with IDDs and the physical exertion demands of their desired careers, and explored the role of physical therapy (PT) in addressing these gaps. Forty-five participants (ages 14–24) in the Nebraska EmployABILITY project identified their top career choice. PT‑assessed current work capacity was compared to the physical exertion requirements of the selected job using a standardized exertion scale. Differences were analyzed using the Wilcoxon …

Artificial Intelligence Moderation In Online Gaming: A Cybersecurity Analysis Of Risks And Defenses, Labib Khan

Cybersecurity Undergraduate Research Showcase

This research paper will examine the role of artificial intelligence (AI) moderation systems in enhancing cybersecurity within online gaming environments. As multiplayer platforms increasingly rely on real-time text, voice communication, and user-generated content, developers have implemented AI-driven tools such as natural language processing (NLP), speech recognition, and behavioral analytics to detect harassment, toxic behavior, cheating coordination, and other malicious activity. These systems enable gaming companies to efficiently monitor large volumes of player interactions, improving response times and helping maintain safer and more controlled digital environments for users across global gaming communities of varying sizes and activity levels.
