Comment Sections As Counterpublics; Negotiating Public Discourse In Indonesia’S Digital Media Sphere, Leon Woltermann Apr 2026

Comment Sections As Counterpublics; Negotiating Public Discourse In Indonesia’S Digital Media Sphere, Leon Woltermann

Wacana, Journal of the Humanities of Indonesia

This article examines the potential of YouTube comment sections as spaces of commoning in Indonesia’s digital media sphere. Drawing on the concept of counterpublics – that is, parallel discursive arenas where marginalized groups circulate counter discourses and voice their interests – it explores how users negotiate access to the digital public sphere and oppose dominant narratives. The article employs a mixed-methods approach, integrating quantitative and qualitative methods into the analysis of the data, to investigate both the structural features (based on comment metadata) and the discursive content of comments. I argue that the comment sections’ dynamic, non-binding structure facilitates open …

The “Commoning“ Of Critical Labour Knowledge In Indonesia; Digital Mediation And Its Contradictions, Diatyka Widya Permata Yasih, Inaya Rakhmani Apr 2026

The “Commoning“ Of Critical Labour Knowledge In Indonesia; Digital Mediation And Its Contradictions, Diatyka Widya Permata Yasih, Inaya Rakhmani

Wacana, Journal of the Humanities of Indonesia

This article explores “the commoning of critical labour knowledge“ – the co-sharing of resources to produce, circulate, and practice forms of knowledge generated with, by, and for workers, in opposition to dominant managerial and/or state technocratic frameworks – including through the use of digital media. Drawing on an auto-ethnographic reflection of a collaborative praxis between a university-based research centre and a labour knowledge hub, both based in Indonesia, we argue that this practice is imbued with internal contradictions. The praxis does open possibilities for solidarity, redistribution, and collective critical knowledge-making. However, it is constrained by capitalist logics of algorithmic surveillance, …

Making Sense Of Cultural Commoning In The Streets; Popular Trust Within The Info Cegatan Jogja (Icj) Community, Antonius Galih Prasetyo, Wasisto Raharjo Jati

Wacana, Journal of the Humanities of Indonesia

The need for inclusive shared spaces that offer tangible solutions rather than just information has become increasingly urgent, given the limits of state resources. Facebook-based Info Cegatan Jogja (ICJ), with over a million members, uniquely showcases civil society’s productive use of social media. The ICJ project began by documenting police checkpoints (cegatan) and bureaucratic hurdles in Yogyakarta. It has since evolved into a combined online and offline community that regularly reports accidents, thefts, lost items, and other public concerns, effectively functioning as a public awareness, complaint, and information-sharing platform for the entire Yogyakarta Special Region Province. Given the …

Wellness By Design: Leadership And Learning Practices For Well-Being In Arts Management, Ashleigh Olander Apr 2026

Wellness By Design: Leadership And Learning Practices For Well-Being In Arts Management, Ashleigh Olander

Student Theses

Leading with a culture of care is the art of wellness-based design. The arts are often seen as places for healing and community connection; however, arts institutions themselves frequently function in ways that undermine well-being. The systems in place do not promote wellness, nor do they dedicate resources to maintaining the vitality of staff. Wellness initiatives in the arts are ordinarily based on programming, rather than embedded into the foundation of the organization. Although engaging with the arts as a whole elevates wellness, it is challenging to find an arts institution designed with wellness practices in mind. There is a …

Final Project Report Bhpt Team, Morgan Stetzer, James Rush, Ashley Wolf

Engineering Senior Design Reports

Often, people with dexterity and/or mobility issues can struggle to read because of difficulty manipulating physical books or tablets. In the 2022-2023 school year, a senior design team was tasked with designing and building a tablet holder that allows people with dexterity issues to read from a tablet. This year, the project was revised, and this senior design team was tasked with developing a book-holder module for that same user. This book-holder module is compatible with the existing stand from the 2022-2023 project, is operable in an indoor environment, and is able to fit within the designated storage cage. It …

Elucidating The Role Of The Gastrointestinal Microbiome And Diet In Dopamine Release In Relation To Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder., Meaghan Mcdonald Apr 2026

Elucidating The Role Of The Gastrointestinal Microbiome And Diet In Dopamine Release In Relation To Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder., Meaghan Mcdonald

Celebrating Scholarship and Creativity Day (2018-)

Currently affecting 340-580 million people worldwide, ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects how the brain controls attention, behaviour and impulses often beginning in childhood and continuing into adulthood. ADHD is known to be associated with monoamine neurotransmitters including dopamine. This work aims to uncover the ways in which metabolism of monoamine precursors in the gastrointestinal microbiome influences dopamine release in the brain. Previous studies have indicated that children with ADHD display distinct gut bacteria profiles with unique microbiota species that result in the disruption of monoamine precursor pathways of phenylalanine and tyrosine metabolism. Emphasis on our western diet and …

Alterations In Gut Microbiota And Their Association With Intestinal Mucosal Injury In Children With Febrile Seizures, Lin Yang, Shuan Yin, Wenchao Zou Apr 2026

Alterations In Gut Microbiota And Their Association With Intestinal Mucosal Injury In Children With Febrile Seizures, Lin Yang, Shuan Yin, Wenchao Zou

Neurosciences

Objective: To explore the correlation between diversity of the gut microbiota and key markers of inflammation and intestinal mucosal injury in pediatric febrile seizures (FS).

Methods: This study compared 15 FS children (FS group) and 15 healthy individuals (normal control group). The participants underwent 16S rDNA sequencing to analyze gut microbiota profiles. ELISA was employed to measure peripheral blood concentrations of the pro-inflammatory cytokines TNF-α and IL-6, as well as intestinal mucosal injury indicators such as endotoxin (BT), D-lactate (D-Lac), and diamine oxidase (DAO). Analysis assessed the correlation between gut microbiota composition, inflammatory factors, and indicators of intestinal mucosal damage …

Protein Intake In Children With Cerebral Palsy: A Narrative Review Highlighting The Implications Of Protein Intake On Muscle Mass, Growth, And Overall Nutritional Status, Manar Waleed Simbawa, Sheikha Nasser Alqahtnai Apr 2026

Protein Intake In Children With Cerebral Palsy: A Narrative Review Highlighting The Implications Of Protein Intake On Muscle Mass, Growth, And Overall Nutritional Status, Manar Waleed Simbawa, Sheikha Nasser Alqahtnai

Neurosciences

Children with cerebral palsy experience nutritional challenges that affect protein intake and may contribute to poor muscle mass and growth faltering. Since protein plays a major role in preserving muscle mass and supporting growth, ensuring adequate intake is critical. A comprehensive literature search was conducted for observational studies published between 2006 and 2025. The reviewed studies results were grouped into: [1] Protein intake, with values ranging from 0.66 to 4.1 g/kg/day, with higher intake observed among ambulatory or orally fed children, [2] Nutritional Status and Body Composition, as reduced muscle was reported in children with severe motor impairment, and [3] …
