The Relationship Between Volatilities On The Gold Market And Us Stock Market In The Presence Of Geopolitical Risks, Mohamed Bilel Triki, Abderrazek Ben Maatoug

Scientific Journal of King Faisal University: Humanities and Management Sciences

The stock market as well as the gold market are the most important markets in all developed countries. Due to the urgent need of policy makers, investors and speculators, especially when tensions between countries arise, studying these markets is important. The relationship between gold and the stock markets, in the presence of global tension and conflicts, is re-explored by introducing the uncertainty that induces shocks, such as the recent index, which was calculated by Caldara and Iacoviello in 2016, referred to as geopolitical risk index. The gold price, S&P500 index and geopolitical risk index are used, for period starting from …

Fragile Women In Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie And Marina Carr's The Mai, Fathia Saleh Al-Ghoreibi May 2026

Fragile Women In Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie And Marina Carr's The Mai, Fathia Saleh Al-Ghoreibi

Scientific Journal of King Faisal University: Humanities and Management Sciences

Both Tennessee Williams and Marina Carr are interested in female issues. Throughout his literary career, Williams expresses his feelings towards his mother and sister through the female characters that inhabit his plays. Mostly, they are fragile women in a hostile world devoid of sympathy and care. The Glass Menagerie, through the characters of Amanda Wingfield and her daughter Laura, offers exemplary figures of such characters whose only weapons against a cruel and severe present is retreat into illusionary worlds of beautiful memories or glass figurines. Similarly, Carr's females in The Mai are trapped women who cannot free themselves from imprisoning …

Effectiveness Of An Aerobic Sport Program In Developing Motor And Functional Efficiency Of Elderly In Saudi Arabia, Mahmoud I. Marei, Amani M. Elbatrawy May 2026

Effectiveness Of An Aerobic Sport Program In Developing Motor And Functional Efficiency Of Elderly In Saudi Arabia, Mahmoud I. Marei, Amani M. Elbatrawy

Scientific Journal of King Faisal University: Humanities and Management Sciences

Middle-age men suffer from a gradual decline in their motor and functional fitness level. This coincides with an increase in daily life and work pressure, in addition to . psychological problems. These complications increase because of an inaccurate belief about the changes in this stage that aged persons must have a greater deal of comfort 50 . and fewer responsibilities. Therefore, the current study is about employing exercise 30 influences of a recreational step aerobics sport program to reduce the manifestations of decline in motor and functional fitness for middle-aged men over 50. A random sample of 30 office worker …

Demystifying Large Language Models: How Ai Is Transforming Data, Compliance, And Decision-Making In Coal Ash And Environmental Management, Scott Pfeiffer May 2026

Demystifying Large Language Models: How Ai Is Transforming Data, Compliance, And Decision-Making In Coal Ash And Environmental Management, Scott Pfeiffer

World of Coal Ash Proceedings

The environmental and coal combustion residuals (CCR) industries generate vast amounts of information—from groundwater monitoring reports and RCRA documentation to closure plans and analytical data. Managing, interpreting, and communicating this information is a growing challenge for utilities, regulators, and consultants alike. Large Language Models (LLMs), such as OpenAI’s GPT architecture, represent a breakthrough in how organizations can interact with their technical data. These models use deep neural networks trained on billions of words to understand, summarize, and generate language with human-like accuracy. When securely adapted for enterprise use, LLMs can automate routine reporting, extract data from technical documents, generate regulatory …

Italian Colonization Of Ethiopia And Il Duce’S Rhetoric , Isabella Paluzzi Steele May 2026

Italian Colonization Of Ethiopia And Il Duce’S Rhetoric , Isabella Paluzzi Steele

Undergraduate Research and Engagement Symposium

My project analyzes the narratives constructed by Benito Mussolini about Italian colonization of Ethiopia in Fascist Italy. Mussolini's narratives regarding colonization in Ethiopia fall into narrative categories: 1. the narrative of Fascist Italy as a newly reborn Roman Empire, and 2. the narrative of Fascist Italy as racially superior to Ethiopians which made a civilizing mission necessary to Mussolini. Mussolini’s verbal narratives and their diffusion should be examined to gain a clearer understanding of what was shown to the Italian public so there is an understanding of the dissonance between official policies and proclamations and public sentiment.

Quantum Algorithms For Discrete And Combinatorial Optimization, Gloria Oppong May 2026

Quantum Algorithms For Discrete And Combinatorial Optimization, Gloria Oppong

UTC Spring Research and Arts Conference

This study explores quantum computing for combinatorial optimization, focusing on the Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP). Using Qiskit, the Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (QAOA) is implemented on simulators and quantum hardware, and compared with classical optimization using Gurobi. TSP instances are encoded as Quadratic Unconstrained Binary Optimization (QUBO) problems derived from the Miller–Tucker–Zemlin formulation, with quadratic penalties enforcing degree and subtour constraints. Results indicate that QAOA consistently generates feasible tours, but classical branch-and-bound methods achieve better solution quality and runtime. On Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum (NISQ) devices, performance degrades with problem size due to sensitivity to parameter tuning, penalty scaling, and hardware …

Digitization And Curation Of The Fungal Collections At The University Of Tennessee At Chattanooga, Seth N. Ledbetter, Ana Currie, J. Hill Craddock

UTC Spring Research and Arts Conference

The Natural History Museum of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UCHT:F) houses approximately 4,400 fungal specimens, including a recently donated collection from Austin Peay State University. We are establishing standardized protocols for ongoing curatorial practice at UCHT:F. Digitization workflow adheres directly to iDigBio and Symbiota best practices following standardized Darwin Core data capture, imaging of specimen packets and labels, taxonomic updating, georeferencing, and online publication of records in MyCoPortal, the Mycology Collections data Portal. Targeted sampling in under sampled Tennessee counties is driven by analysis of MyCoPortal data. Voucher specimens associated with prior UTC undergraduate research, including mycological surveys …

Science And Art Panel: Moderator's Introduction, Christopher Cox May 2026

Science And Art Panel: Moderator's Introduction, Christopher Cox

UTC Spring Research and Arts Conference

Science and art are often treated as separate intellectual traditions, yet they share deep cognitive foundations — observation, pattern recognition, and iterative refinement — and have strengthened one another throughout history. Art provides a sensory bridge that makes the invisible phenomena of science tangible, while scientific advancement continually expands the creative palette available to artists through new materials, tools, and technologies. In a professional landscape that tends to silo expertise, individuals who can navigate both the empirical and the expressive — polymaths, in the classical sense — are uniquely positioned to drive innovation.

This panel is composed of five UTC …
