Composing Art For Reflexivity: Still Life Photography As A Medium For Reflexive Management Learning, Emi Makino, S. R. Aurora, Chantal Van Esch May 2026

Composing Art For Reflexivity: Still Life Photography As A Medium For Reflexive Management Learning, Emi Makino, S. R. Aurora, Chantal Van Esch

Management Faculty Publications

Engaging in reflexive practice is crucial for both management students and professionals. Teaching the core skills of reflexivity can be difficult, however. We describe the Still Life Photo Exercise, a simple yet powerful reflexive activity grounded in art-based pedagogy. In this unconventional method for stimulating deep reflection and engaged discussion, students choose and arrange everyday objects into a work of art in line with a given theme, learning to critically reflect upon their lived experiences through creative skills, projective techniques, illustration of essence, and the physical act of making. The exercise’s versatility, its ability to draw out deep personal reflection …

Improved Oscillation Criteria For A Class Of Neutral Differential Equations In The Canonical Case, Abdulaziz Khalid Alsharidi, Ali Muhib May 2026

Improved Oscillation Criteria For A Class Of Neutral Differential Equations In The Canonical Case, Abdulaziz Khalid Alsharidi, Ali Muhib

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

This paper develops an analytical framework based on comparison with first-order equations to derive new oscillation criteria for all solutions of a class of second-order differential equations with multiple delays. These criteria extend and improve upon previously published results. Illustrative examples are provided to validate the theoretical findings and to demonstrate the significance and applicability of the proposed criteria.

Oscillation Properties Of First-Order Difference Equations With Nonmonotone Delays: New Insights And Criteria, Emad Attia, George Chatzarakis

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

In this paper, we examine the oscillatory behavior of the first-order linear delay difference equation Δy(n) + p(n) y(τ(n)) = 0, n ∈ ℕ0. It is known in the literature that, for any C > 0, the condition lim supn→∞ ∑i=τ(n)n p(i) > C, with τ(n) nonmonotone, is not, in general, sufficient to establish the oscillation of the difference equation. We prove that, for certain classes of difference equations, the aforementioned condition is sufficient to ensure the …

On The Number Of Exact Factorization Of Finite Groups, Jesus Alonso Ochoa Arango, Maria Angelica Umbarila Martin

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

In this work, the function f2(G), which counts the number of exact factorizations of a finite group G, is studied. The value of  f2(G) is computed for several well-known families of finite groups, and an asymptotic expression is derived for the number of exact factorizations of the alternating group A2n .

Measuring The Exorbitant Privilege: A Unified Estimate Of The Financial Benefits Of Dollar Dominance, 1976–2024, Carson T. Weeks May 2026

Measuring The Exorbitant Privilege: A Unified Estimate Of The Financial Benefits Of Dollar Dominance, 1976–2024, Carson T. Weeks

Honors Theses

This paper constructs a unified annual time series of the major measurable components of the United States' exorbitant privilege from 1976 to 2024. Drawing on established econometric estimates from the literature, it measures three channels through which the international role of the dollar generates financial benefits for the United States: seigniorage from foreign holdings of physical currency, borrowing cost savings on federal debt arising from reserve-driven demand for Treasuries, and the return differential on the U.S. external balance sheet, covering both public and private holdings. All dollar figures are reported in real 2024 dollars, deflated by the Consumer Price Index. …

From Spectator To Actor: The Drive-In Cinema As Movement On The Blue Ridge Parkway, Jacob Gonzalez May 2026

From Spectator To Actor: The Drive-In Cinema As Movement On The Blue Ridge Parkway, Jacob Gonzalez

Bachelor of Architecture Theses - 5th Year

This thesis argues that architecture is not experienced as static form, but as something constructed through movement. It reconsiders the declining drive-in cinema typology not as a destination for passive viewing, but as a spatial system where movement and perception are actively choreographed.

The project asks: how can architectural movement transform the drive-in from a static act of viewing into a dynamic, cinematic experience?

Drawing from montage theory in film, particularly the work of Sergei Eisenstein, this thesis understands meaning as something constructed through sequence (through order, duration, repetition, and rhythm). Bernard Tschumi’s translation of these ideas into architecture informs …

Psychological Science Faculty Publications

Trauma exposure and posttraumatic stress (PTS) symptoms are well-documented health disparities in Latinx migrants, explaining a diverse array of physical and mental health complaints as well as role limitations for both youth and adults. Few studies have examined the influence of the migration journey on PTS in Latinx migrants. We examined the added effect of migration-related predictors, above and beyond general trauma exposure, of PTS in two samples of Latinx migrants with the broad aim of uncovering unique predictors of PTS in this high-risk population. Both studies investigated predictors of posttraumatic distress using information collected about individuals’ demographics (e.g., age, …

Liquid Fire Accelerants' Effect On Blood Detectability, Genniltza Ramirez May 2026

Liquid Fire Accelerants' Effect On Blood Detectability, Genniltza Ramirez

Themis: Research Journal of Justice Studies and Forensic Science

Five liquid fire accelerants were studied in their effects on blood detection in attempts to yield presumptive accelerant indicators to benefit fire scene investigators. The experiment involved burning different accelerant types via a 1:1 pig blood and accelerant ratio on cloth squares in trials of three, and then presumptively testing for blood using luminol. Luminol was selected for its sensitivity, subjectivity, and previous use in arson fire and thermal studies. For this study, accelerants were determined to have positive presumptive blood detection if detectable by camera for documentation. Presumptive blood detection of the accelerants resulted in: paint thinner with detection …

Toward Autonomous Wireless Networks: Spatio-Temporal Prediction Via Physics-Aware Generative Ai Models, Rahul Gulia May 2026

Toward Autonomous Wireless Networks: Spatio-Temporal Prediction Via Physics-Aware Generative Ai Models, Rahul Gulia

Theses

The realization of fully autonomous Industry 4.0 environments depends on wireless networks that are not merely connected, but predictively aware—capable of anticipating channel degradation before it disrupts mission-critical operations. In dynamic industrial environments such as automated warehouses, radio frequency propagation is governed by dense metallic infrastructure, continuously moving obstacles, and frequent line-of-sight to non-line-of-sight transitions that render the channel non-stationary and spatiotemporally complex. Conventional approaches face a fundamental dichotomy: deterministic simulators such as ray-tracing and NS-3 achieve high physical fidelity but require up to 38 hours to generate a single high-resolution SINR heatmap, making real-time adaptation computationally infeasible; empirical and …

Foaming Properties And Structural Characterization Of Wheat Germ Albumin-Galacto-Oligosaccharide Covalent Complexes, Zhang Gensheng, Su Wenwen, Huang Xinyu, Du Yinan, Na Zhiguo, Fei Yingmin

Food and Machinery

[Objective] To improve the foaming properties of wheat germ albumin (WGA). [Methods] WGA was modified by wet glycosylation with galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS). The foaming capacity and foam stability of the wheat germ albumin-galacto-oligosaccharide covalent complex (WGA-GOS) were investigated, and its structure was characterized. [Results] Compared with WGA, the foaming capacity and foam stability of the WGA-GOS increased by 41.7% and 7.9%, respectively. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, circular dichroism, intrinsic fluorescence spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy analyses showed that the introduction of GOS altered the spatial structure of WGA, confirming the formation of covalent bonds between WGA and GOS. After modification, the …

Between Tents And Concrete: Rethinking Displacement Space In Haiti, Korine Dorval May 2026

Between Tents And Concrete: Rethinking Displacement Space In Haiti, Korine Dorval

Bachelor of Architecture Theses - 5th Year

Haiti is not an anomaly; it is a case study. Since the 2010 earthquake, displacement has not resolved but compounded, layered beneath successive crises of political instability, gang violence, and natural disaster. As of 2025, 1.4 million people remain without homes, many of them inheriting a life between tents and concrete that was never meant to last this long. Yet responses remain trapped in the logic of emergency. To live between tents and concrete is to exist in suspended uncertainty where children grow up without an address and community forms despite the design, not because of it. These camps were …

A Place To Return: Reimagining Rehabilitation Through Architecture In Tijuana, Mexico, Karen J. Reyes May 2026

A Place To Return: Reimagining Rehabilitation Through Architecture In Tijuana, Mexico, Karen J. Reyes

Bachelor of Architecture Theses - 5th Year

Addiction in Mexico is often associated with stigma, isolation, and institutional models of rehabilitation that reinforce punishment rather than healing. Many rehabilitation centers remain socially invisible, poorly maintained, and disconnected from the communities they aim to serve, particularly in border cities such as Tijuana, where displacement, instability, and addiction frequently intersect. The project responds to these conditions by exploring how architecture can redefine rehabilitation as a process rooted in dignity, belonging, and renewal rather than shame and confinement.

Grounded in Aaron Antonovsky’s Salutogenic Model and theories of community-centered healing, the proposal reimagines recovery through the concept of work as therapy. …

From Passage To Place: Reimagining The Transit Hub, Amber Henry May 2026

From Passage To Place: Reimagining The Transit Hub, Amber Henry

Bachelor of Architecture Theses - 5th Year

Transit hubs are a vital backbone for commuters in major US cities. Despite this backbone, the design priority of the transit hubs is not given the same commitment. When designing transit hubs, there is a focus on the circulation of the hub, often neglecting community engagement and the opportunity to design the space for more than just a transit center. This hyper fixation on circulation just exacerbates the problem of lost space within the urban city. Lost space is the space that is left over and unused due to urban blight. Urban blight occurred in the mid-20th century with people …
