Decolonizing International Law, Modirzadeh’S Critique, And Homework For Islamic International Law Scholarship: An Attasian Approach, Fajri Matahati Muhammadin, Rafsi Azzam Hibatullah Albar

Indonesian Journal of International Law

Naz Khatoon Modirzadeh published an article criticizing the Third World Approaches to International Law (TWAIL) movement for its purported inability to achieve its purpose as a response to one of the major international law decolonization projects. One of her criticisms is that TWAIL lacks a cohesive counter-vision of international law, actual representation of third-world views, and organized political movements. Within the heavily diverse (which is one of the problems) TWAIL camp, among others, is the voice of Islamic law. Most Muslim nations have been at the receiving end of the brute force of colonialism. Colonialism is, in fact, responsible for …

Crisis Aporias In Questioning International Law’S Efficacy And Legitimacy, Swati Singh Parmar Jun 2026

Crisis Aporias In Questioning International Law’S Efficacy And Legitimacy, Swati Singh Parmar

Indonesian Journal of International Law

International law events have been sites of contestation among teachers and scholars of international law and beyond. With each unsettling international event, the international law academe faces new wine in the old bottle questions on international law efficacy based on managerial expectations of international law. Though mostly unfair and disproportionate, these questions–diffused and embodied in teaching and otherwise–weigh heavily on international law’s efficacy and legitimacy during and even beyond the temporality of such events. Before any objective and horizontal assessment of IL through crises, as international law scholars, we must try to ask ourselves a few questions. What makes a …

Legacy Vs. Luxury: Generational Stadium Design And Fan Perceptions In Professional Sport, Joshua Greer, Tim Wilson Jun 2026

Legacy Vs. Luxury: Generational Stadium Design And Fan Perceptions In Professional Sport, Joshua Greer, Tim Wilson

Global Sport Business Journal

This study examines whether generational differences in National Football League (NFL) stadium design influence fans' evaluations of venue quality, addressing a gap in the sport management literature on the relative importance of modernization versus heritage in shaping spectator satisfaction. Drawing on the sportscape framework and environmental psychology, the study analyzes 539,660 fan-generated online reviews from across 30 NFL stadiums. Composite satisfaction scores were calculated and used to assess relationships among stadium age, capacity, and perceived quality.

Results indicate no statistically significant difference in satisfaction between legacy stadiums (opened before 2000) and new-generation venues (opened in 2000 or later). Although legacy …

A Qualitative Analysis Of The Financial Issues Facing Division Ii And Division Iii Intercollegiate Athletics, Michael G. Fraina Iii, Tyler J. Ratts, Eric Forsyth, Lana Huberty, Madison Demaio Jun 2026

A Qualitative Analysis Of The Financial Issues Facing Division Ii And Division Iii Intercollegiate Athletics, Michael G. Fraina Iii, Tyler J. Ratts, Eric Forsyth, Lana Huberty, Madison Demaio

Global Sport Business Journal

With increasing costs and decreasing funding (Zvosec & Baer, 2022), the evolution of college athletics has altered the financial realities facing athletic departments (Elliott et al., 2026). To maintain operations, athletic directors are now tasked with identifying new revenue streams and becoming creative in how they manage their budgets. Research in intercollegiate sport has traditionally focused on Division I athletics. However, given the role of Division II and Division III programs, especially in driving enrollment at their institutions, further understanding of the current financial environment facing these schools is needed. The purpose of this qualitative study was to examine the …

Patterns In Emotional Labor Outcomes: Assessing Seasonal Cycles Of Burnout In Minor League Sport Employees, Mandy Barefoot, Mike Martinez Jun 2026

Patterns In Emotional Labor Outcomes: Assessing Seasonal Cycles Of Burnout In Minor League Sport Employees, Mandy Barefoot, Mike Martinez

Global Sport Business Journal

Burnout, characterized by emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and reduced personal accomplishment (Kristensen et al., 2005), is a growing concern among sport employees, with research documenting high levels of emotional strain, role conflict, and turnover intentions in collegiate and professional sport settings (Taylor et al., 2019; Weight et al., 2021). Although burnout is often examined as a stable condition, little attention has been given to how the cyclical nature of the sport calendar may shape its development over time.

This study examines burnout among middle managers in minor league baseball and hockey through the lens of Affective Events Theory, exploring how seasonal …

ISARRA 2026

Harmful algal blooms (HABs) are abundant in many regions of South Florida and produce toxins that pose significant health concerns for wildlife and surrounding human communities. Often blooming in warmer months due to a variety of environmental and anthropogenic factors, HABs can have detrimental effects on wildlife ecosystems, tourism and aquaculture infrastructure, and numerous other socioeconomic factors. Current monitoring techniques of HABs are limited in both safety and utility: satellite remote sensing lacks sufficiently high spatiotemporal resolution to be useful for HAB prediction and modeling, and crewed boat sampling is inefficient, disturbs HABs by introducing confounding mixing effects, and presents …

Using The Swuf-3d Uas Fleet To Determine Heat Flux Characteristics In An Alpine Valley, Francesca Lappin, Almut Alexa, Andrea Wiech, Norman Wildmann Jun 2026

Using The Swuf-3d Uas Fleet To Determine Heat Flux Characteristics In An Alpine Valley, Francesca Lappin, Almut Alexa, Andrea Wiech, Norman Wildmann

ISARRA 2026

Advancements in uncrewed aerial system (UAS) development and meteorological sensor integration have created a valuable tool to observe turbulence in the atmospheric boundary layer (ABL). Deploying a fleet of UASs allows the flexibility to sample the spatiotemporal structure of turbulence; such observations are particularly useful in complex terrain where it is difficult to sample with classical approaches. During the TEAMx campaign, the DLR SWUF-3D fleet of UAS was operated in a remote Alpine valley. Each SWUF-3D UAS is outfitted with a rapid response temperature sensor and can determine the 3D wind field at high-resolution, and these measurements are calibrated in-field. …

Cfd Analysis Of Atmospheric Boundary Layer Measurements On Planetary Rotorcraft, Jackson Asiatico, Ralph Lorenz, Michael Kinzel Jun 2026

Cfd Analysis Of Atmospheric Boundary Layer Measurements On Planetary Rotorcraft, Jackson Asiatico, Ralph Lorenz, Michael Kinzel

ISARRA 2026

The Dragonfly mission will deploy a rotorcraft lander equipped with the Dragonfly Geophysics and Meteorology Package (DraGMet) to explore Titan’s surface and atmosphere through measurements of wind velocity, pressure, temperature, and atmospheric conditions. However, the vehicle’s bluff body geometry presents a challenge common amongst UAS atmospheric measurements, as flow disturbances around the lander create directionally dependent sensor biases. This study employs high-fidelity computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to characterize measurement errors in DraGMet’s meteorological sensor suite. Simulations were conducted across multiple azimuthal wind angles, extracting velocity data at fixed sensor locations and computing wall shear stress distributions across the vehicle …

Atmospheric Science On Titan From The Dragonfly Rotorcraft, Ralph Lorenz Jun 2026

Atmospheric Science On Titan From The Dragonfly Rotorcraft, Ralph Lorenz

ISARRA 2026

NASA's Dragonfly rotorcraft lander is under construction for launch in 2028 to Saturn's moon Titan.  The ~900kg vehicle takes advantage of Titan's dense nitrogen atmosphere and low gravity to effect mobility using 8 rotors. The vehicle will make meteorological measurements on the surface, as well as during the ~20 minute flights it will make every Titan day or two (thus, once or twice per month). Flights will reach several hundred meters altitude, profiling most or all of the Planetary Boundary Layer (PBL), depending on the time of day.  Additionally, measurements are made at Titan arrival, where the vehicle descends by …

Impact Of In-Situ Observations From Three Torus Cases On Model Analyses And Forecasts Of Severe Convection, Robert Szot, Adam Houston, Matthew Wilson Jun 2026

Impact Of In-Situ Observations From Three Torus Cases On Model Analyses And Forecasts Of Severe Convection, Robert Szot, Adam Houston, Matthew Wilson

ISARRA 2026

The quality of forecasts of severe deep convection in high-resolution numerical weather prediction is dependent on the representativeness of the model initial conditions. This representativeness may be negatively impacted by limited observation availability and by the presence of mesoscale heterogeneities not detected by conventional observations assimilated into convection-allowing models. By assimilating storm-scale observations from the Targeted Observation by Radars and Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) of Supercells (TORUS) campaign into an ensemble styled after the Warn-on-Forecast System, this study aims to investigate if data from field work platforms can improve the quality of initial conditions in the ensemble, potentially leading to …
