Adapting News Production To Social Media Logics As A Revenue Strategy: The Case Of Beritabali.Com, Irsanti Widuri Asih, Aryo Subarkah Eddyono
JURNAL KOMUNIKASI INDONESIA
Over the past decade, news consumption has increasingly shifted from websites to social media, leading to a significant decline in advertising revenues for online news outlets. This shift presents a serious challenge for small-scale local media in Indonesia, which typically operate with limited financial and human resources. This study explores how Beritabali.com, a local news outlet, responds to these challenges by addressing three central questions: why it produces content for social media, how it adapts to the social media ecosystem, and what implications arise from this transformation. Drawing on the theory of deep mediatization and employing a qualitative methodology …

Accessible Workplace, Inaccessible Workflows: Mandatory Documents, Challenges And Workarounds In Accessible Onboarding, Scott Hollier, Justin Brown, Ruchi Permvattana
Research outputs 2022 to 2026
This paper describes the accessibility challenges faced by the Centre For Accessibility Australia (CFAA), a small not-for-profit organisation when onboarding new staff. The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) requires that employers fill in a PDF document with tax file information for new employees, a process that is currently not accessible to screen-reader users. The director of the CFAA is legally blind and uses a range of assistive technologies to interact with the Web, documents and messaging platforms. This paper describes accessibility issues identified in the current ATO form and the range of alternative approaches the CFAA has had to adopt as …

Journal of the Saudi Heart Association
Acute myocardial infarction from a vegetation is a rare complication of infective endocarditis. Thrombolysis, percutaneous coronary intervention with balloon angioplasty, stenting, and thromboaspiration, and surgery have all been described in this challenging clinical scenario. A woman with staphylococcal bioprosthetic aortic valve infective endocarditis developed acute myocardial infarction due to a vegetation invading the left main coronary artery, which was successfully managed with percutaneous thromboaspiration.
Hannah Webster Foster And Benjamin Franklin: Addressing The Coquette Through The Male And Female Voice, Gianna Vaynberg
Hannah Webster Foster And Benjamin Franklin: Addressing The Coquette Through The Male And Female Voice, Gianna Vaynberg
Locus: The Seton Hall Journal of Undergraduate Research
Throughout history, women have carried the weight of social expectations that have been thrust upon them by a patriarchal society, within which men are not held to nearly the same moral standard and scrutiny. This is reflected in both Benjamin Franklin’s and Hannah Webster Foster’s tales of a “coquette” damned by society for becoming pregnant outside of marriage. However, each of these narratives presents readers with a unique picture of a “coquette.” Both “The Speech of Miss Polly Baker” and The Coquette provide criticisms about the archetype of the coquette. However, while The Coquette presents a cautionary tale dissuading young …
Melusine And Yde Et Olive: Subversive Narrative Power In The Medieval Female Body, Anna Prawer
Melusine And Yde Et Olive: Subversive Narrative Power In The Medieval Female Body, Anna Prawer
Locus: The Seton Hall Journal of Undergraduate Research
This paper delves into the representation of the female body in Medieval Literature, focusing on the texts of 'Melusine' and 'Yde et Olive'. The paper explores how these two texts represent bodily difference and transformation as a source of subversive narrative power. Rather than functioning merely as symbols of weakness or instability compared to the stable and coherent male body, the female bodies in these texts disrupt social and gender norms, generating new possibilities for identity and narrative authority.
Morality Of Medieval Magic In Medicine, Jacob Mudd
Morality Of Medieval Magic In Medicine, Jacob Mudd
Locus: The Seton Hall Journal of Undergraduate Research
In the late medieval and early Renaissance eras, attitudes towards science, religion, and magic were in upheaval. The Reformation was heavily critiquing Catholicism as being too closely related to magic, there were pushes for leaving long-held beliefs behind in favor of newer science, and society as a whole was in a massive period of change. One of the places all three topics intersect is medicine. Normal medicine during this period was often ineffective, furthering the need for people seek out magical cures, which were in turn often intertwined with religion. By looking at the question of whether it would have …

The Gold Standard: Government Protections For Overseas Filipino Workers (Ofws), Christian Montanez
Locus: The Seton Hall Journal of Undergraduate Research
As the world continues to reintegrate in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, millions of Filipinos return to the international job market abroad as construction workers, domestics, and nurses. These workers, known as Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), serve as a key element in the Philippine economy and society as a whole. An essential component of keeping this field lucrative and successful is the Philippine protection system, comprised of several government agencies including the Department of Migrant Workers and the Department of Foreign Affairs. Previous research holds that the Philippine government has done an overall good job at protecting OFWs, serving …

Cleaning The House: Radical Domesticity And Patriarchal Resistance In We Have Always Lived In The Castle, Ava Hanley
Locus: The Seton Hall Journal of Undergraduate Research
Shirley Jackson's We Have Always Lived in The Castle follows Merricat and Constance Blackwood, wealthy sisters who have poisoned and murdered a majority of their family members and live an isolated, independent lifestyle in their family mansion. Once ruled by their family's patriarchal control and obsession with wealth, their house transforms into a space where domestic rituals such as cooking, cleaning, and preserving food become sources of independence and empowerment. Throughout the novel, patriarchal forces attempt to reassert control through the villagers, who ridicule the sisters for their defiance of social norms, and through their cousin Charles, whose intrusion mirrors …

Cybersecurity In Donald Trump’S 2024 Presidential Election Campaign, Julia Celestino
Locus: The Seton Hall Journal of Undergraduate Research
Cybersecurity is of growing importance in America today, yet discussion about cybersecurity in Trump’s 2024 election campaign was limited. This paper discusses how the role of cybersecurity in Donald Trump’s 2024 election campaign was limited by cybersecurity issues from his first term which continue to damage public support for his campaign, the unpopularity of cybersecurity among voters, and an effort to encourage collaboration with technology companies. Focus is on a timeframe from November 15, 2022 to April 30, 2025 (the date Donald Trump announced his candidacy to his 100th day in office). Ultimately, cybersecurity issues see more policy outcomes when …

This paper threads together quantitative data on Black QT students from the HSLS:09 data set, while connecting the authors' lived experiences about the college-going process. According to this data, Black QT high school students were heavily influenced by parents and peers and less influenced by school counselors and teachers regarding decisions about college and post-high school trajectories. In response, we engage in collaborative autoethnography (CAE) to center our narratives as Black QT people by threading our commonalities and differences to highlight what tensions and connections emerged from our experiences with the college-going process to add context to the aforementioned data.

This study presents the results of a long-term investigation of the microclimatic conditions in Shulgan-Tash Cave (Southern Urals, Russia), which hosts the largest assemblage of Upper Paleolithic paintings (ca. 16.3–19.6 ka) in Eastern Europe. The cave exhibits two distinct seasonal ventilation regimes – winter and summer – differentially influence its two levels of galleries. In the Lower Level, which contains 83% of the images, near-atmospheric CO2 concentrations persist year-round, and temperature variations associated with seasonal infiltration events are minimal (1.0–1.3°C). By contrast, the Upper Level, including the decorated Hall of Paintings, is affected by downdrafts of CO2-rich …

21st-Century Dental Public Health: Revisiting The Role Of Community Water Fluoridation, Larry Williams, Preetha Kanjirath
Journal of the American College of Dentists
Community water fluoridation (CWF) has been celebrated as a major public health achievement, significantly reducing dental caries and narrowing oral health disparities. While historically effective, today’s fluoride exposure landscape has shifted, with multiple sources contributing to cumulative intake. This article reviews the scientific foundation, mechanisms of action, public health benefits, and ethical considerations surrounding CWF, alongside real-world outcomes from policy reversals. It examines contemporary concerns, including potential neurodevelopmental risks and vulnerable populations, and calls for recalibrated policies that maintain caries prevention benefits while monitoring total fluoride exposure to ensure safety in modern contexts.
The Ethical Imperative Of Preserving Federal Oversight In Academic Dentistry, Jennifer Talley, Linda Olszewski
The Ethical Imperative Of Preserving Federal Oversight In Academic Dentistry, Jennifer Talley, Linda Olszewski
Journal of the American College of Dentists
This article argues that federal oversight of academic dentistry by the US Department of Education (DOE) is essential to maintaining academic quality, professional standards, financial accessibility, and ethical governance. It examines the role of the DOE in the accreditation process, preserving access to financial aid, ensuring licensure eligibility, and upholding civil rights protections. The authors contend that proposals to dismantle the DOE risk undermining quality assurance, public trust, and equitable access to the profession. Without viable alternatives, preserving federal oversight remains an ethical imperative to protect students, patients, and the integrity of the dental profession.
