Weakness Of Authorship In Grammatical And Rhetorical Studies, Abdulrahmanِِ Ahmad Almaqri
Weakness Of Authorship In Grammatical And Rhetorical Studies, Abdulrahmanِِ Ahmad Almaqri
UB Journal for Humanities
Weakness of Authorship in Grammatical and Rhetorical Studies. I dealt with the subject of weakness of authorship from ancient and modern grammatical studies and rhetorical studies and explained the differences in the definitions of weak authorship by rhetoricians. I concentrated on the examples which the rhetoricians use in their books. It is the reference of the pronoun by explaining its divisions, and clarifying the grammarians’ point of view on it, and explaining its opposition to what the rhetoricians held, using the descriptive and comparative method in the study. The research is divided into an introduction that I made into two …

"Egypt In The Poetry Of Non-Egyptian Poets; Egypt In The Eyes Of Poets Diwan As A Model, Falah Marshad Khalaf Alotaibi
UB Journal for Humanities
Poetry represents a special case of emotional expression of the poet's self and the collective self of the nation. One of the cases of expression in which the singular self is mixed with the collective self is to talk about the homeland and to sing about it. It is an innate issue in every human being towards his homeland. However, what makes the recipient surprised is the praise of the other in a country other than his own. This issue made the researcher stop at these texts, and probe their depths in the Diwan of Egypt in the eyes of …

Trauma Therapy For Orcs: A Psychotherapeutic Consideration Of Orcs In Tolkien's Legendarium, Karen L. Pollock Ms
Journal of Tolkien Research
The complex, violent behavior of the Orcs can be understood through the lens of modern trauma psychology, specifically Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD) and the mechanism of Intergenerational Trauma Transmission.
CPTSD is a diagnosis often applied to individuals who have experienced prolonged, repeated, and inescapable trauma, particularly within an abusive or authoritarian environment. The foundational myth of the Orcs—that they were captured, enslaved, tortured, and physically and mentally mutated by Morgoth—perfectly aligns with a foundational, systemic trauma event.
The resulting Orcish behaviors align with the core symptom clusters of CPTSD including; emotional dysregulation,dissociation/distorted self-perception, disturbed relationships, and a lack of …

“It’S All Fun And Games Until Someone Loses An Eye (-Test): On The Presence And Consequences Of An Argument Scheme That Re-Works Our Notions Of Evidence And Support”, Matthew P. Brigham
Studies in Debate and Oratory
This essay explores an argument scheme commonly employed in sport communication, the “Eye Test,” which claims that a good faith watching of two teams or athletes, for instance, provides its own evidence as to which is superior. A distinction is drawn between a weak version of the argument, the earned eye test, and the strong version, the universal eye test. Focusing on the latter, which does not rely on expertise but claims that any individual should be able to see the proof of the argument, the essay explores a range of everyday and public sphere arguments that operate …

The rise of remote work and modern communications technology has blurred the boundaries between work and personal life, leaving many workers perpetually on call with little time for rest or personal activities. In response, some jurisdictions have adopted a “right to disconnect,” often framed as a ban on work communications during certain hours. However, such proposals are flawed: they are unnecessary, as workers already possess the legal right to ignore work communications outside contractual hours, and impractical, as many feel pressured to remain connected due to workplace norms and career concerns. This article argues for a reconceptualisation of the “right …

Solanum L. subg. Solanum sect. Solanum has a wide distribution in Egypt with multiple overlapping morphological features, rendering the taxonomy of the Solanum nigrum complex difficult at the species level. This study focused on the S. nigrum complex, which consists of S. nigrum L., S. sinaicum Boiss., and S. villosum Mill. Cytogenetic characterization can provide additional taxonomic data and can be used to evaluate genetic diversity at the species level. We performed karyotype analysis of 3 Egyptian species for the first time by studying fluorescence banding patterns via 4’6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI) and chromomycin A3 (CMA). The three species vary noticeably in …

The subject of human learning is revisited. The emergence of new research findings in cognitive neuroscience and related disciplines using new imaging tools and techniques has revealed the existence of not one but two complementary learning systems. A newly-discovered prospection process, interacting with both memory systems, has been revealed as the pivotal mechanism of learning that leads to new experience and new memory records. The universal impact of emotion on this process also receives a new emphasis. This, coupled with the ever-present social environment, show learning to be the result of conversational activity. The existence of this more complete and …

Lost In Translation: Is Data Protection Labour Law Protection?, Michele Molè
Lost In Translation: Is Data Protection Labour Law Protection?, Michele Molè
Comparative Labor Law & Policy Journal
This article critically examines how the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) defines and applies the legal categories of “data subject” and “data controller” within employment relationships. Under the GDPR, employers who collect and process personal data are classified as data controllers, while employees are designated as data subjects. However, this article argues that such a “translation” of data protection categories, rights, and obligations into the regulation of workplace dynamics requires closer examination. The focus is on evaluating whether the GDPR’s rights and obligations for data subjects and data controllers accurately capture the agency and interests of employee and employer …

THE WORKPLACE is a complex and dynamic environment that mirrors societal relations and interactions. Given the inherent imbalance of power between employers and workers, as well as the lack of bargaining power of any individual worker, worker unions have emerged to provide workers with a collective voice and place them on more even footing with their employers, allowing them to achieve more than any single worker could on their own (Bok, 1971). Through the assertion of their members’ collective rights, worker unions have played a pivotal role in promoting rights such as fair wages, safe work conditions, health benefits, and …

Liability, Property, And Inalienability Rules In Employee Data Regulation, Matthew T. Bodie
Comparative Labor Law & Policy Journal
Legal protections for workers’ data have usually taken the form of privacy protections designed to deter data processing that is excessive or invasive. Such protections generally fall into the category of liability rules, under which rights can be infringed as long as compensation is provided for the violation. As Guido Calabresi and A. Douglas Melamed have described in “Property Rules, Liability Rules, and Inalienability: One View of the Cathedral,” liability rules are contrasted with either property rules that prevent the involuntary transfer of rights or inalienability rules that prohibit rights transfers altogether. This article explores how property rules and inalienability …

Accelerating The Degradation Of Biodegradable Mulch Films In Soil And Compost Environments, Harshal Jayesh Kansara
Theses
The incomplete degradation of biodegradable mulch films (BMFs) in agricultural soils poses environmental challenges, with persistent plastic residues impacting soil health. This dissertation investigates the use of bioaugmentation with P. guariconensis to enhance BMF degradation under laboratory, raised bed, and field conditions. The research focuses on optimizing microbial delivery methods, evaluating the efficacy of drip and spray bioaugmentation techniques, and assessing mass loss as a primary metric for degradation. Laboratory experiments established proof-of-concept by demonstrating enhanced carbon mineralization, weight loss, and fragmentation of BMFs under bioaugmented conditions. These findings were translated to field-scale trials, where bioaugmentation treatments consistently outperformed untreated …

Heckman V. Live Nation Entertainment: New Rules For Mass Arbitration Companies, Jona Mensch
Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution (CJCR) Blog
An interesting new development in alternative dispute resolution has worked its way up the court system in the last few years, as a group of plaintiffs brought a putative class action alleging anticompetitive practices against Live Nation Entertainment and Ticketmaster. Live Nation and Ticketmaster moved to compel arbitration based on Ticketmaster’s Terms of Use, which purported to require that plaintiffs arbitrate claims before a newly created arbitration company—New Era ADR. The Ninth Circuit affirmed the district court’s order denying defendants’ motion to compel arbitration in Heckman v. Live Nation Entertainment, Inc., determining that New Era’s arbitration rules were procedurally …

Environmental stressors such as drought, floods, salinity, extreme temperatures, and heavy metal toxicity are major threats to horticultural plants because they disrupt plant physiological mechanisms, leading to reduced yield and quality. Salicylic acid (SA) is a plant hormone that regulates various physiological and biochemical functions in plants. Moreover, it regulates hormonal balance, enhances the absorption of essential nutrients, promotes photosynthesis and the production of antistress compounds, and improves stress resistance. This comprehensive review explains several physiological and biochemical activities that are affected by SA under stressful conditions, such as stomatal regulation, antioxidant defense systems, osmotic adjustment and gene expression regulation. …

School of Business Faculty Papers
This paper evaluates the performance and portfolio role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Blockchain exchange-traded funds (ETFs) based on monthly returns from 2010 to 2025. The findings show that both AI and Blockchain ETFs generate positive alpha and high standalone returns but also display considerable drawdown risk. Their weak correlations with each other and with broad indices highlight diversification benefits, particularly when combined with U.S. benchmarks. Portfolio optimization reveals that Global Minimum Variance (GMV) and Tangency portfolios ascribe lower weights to these ETFs, while Risk Parity portfolios have a more balanced exposure, helping to diversify risks. Efficient frontier analysis highlights …

BACKGROUND: Postmenopausal women face an increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) due to estrogen withdrawal, which exacerbates traditional cardiovascular risk factors such as dyslipidemia, glucose intolerance, and hypertension. Coronary Artery Calcium Score (CACS), a well-established marker of subclinical atherosclerosis, has emerged as a key predictor of adverse cardiovascular events. Despite the recognized association between menopause and heightened CVD risk, there remains a paucity of literature exploring the specific role of menopause in influencing CACS and its implications for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.
AIM: To examine the interplay between menopause, CACS, and cardiovascular health by synthesizing existing literature.
METHODS: A comprehensive …
