Simplified Direct Composite Restoration On Class Iv With Bertholdo/Riccie/Barrotte (Brb) Matrix Technique - Case Report, Alfajri I. Suwir, Wandania Farahanny
Journal of Dentomaxillofacial Science
ABSTRACT
Background: Direct composite restoration could produce restorations that look like natural teeth with a simple and quick process. Composite resin material might reconstruct teeth by accurately replicating the micro- and macrostructure, chromatic characteristics, and tooth symmetry of the original dentition. However, we still need extra instruments and the clinician's experience to get this result. This case study aims to describe a simple biomimetic technique for repairing anterior tooth defects with the Bertholdo/ Riccie/ Barrotte (BRB) matrix. Case Report: A 23-year-old man complained about a fracture of his anterior teeth. He had an accident 3 years ago. This tooth was …

Journal of Dentomaxillofacial Science
Introduction: We report a case where oral symptoms, initially suspected as adverse effects of chemoradiotherapy, evolved into systemic mucositis and dermatitis, leading to a toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) diagnosis.
Case Report: An 80-year-old man presented for conservative treatment of tongue cancer. Based on his preference, superselective intra-arterial chemoradiotherapy was chosen instead of surgery. Thirty-six days after treatment began, the patient developed a fever of 38.4°C and worsening oral mucositis (grade 3 CTCAE Ver. 4.0). Subsequently, facial dermatitis appeared and was initially diagnosed as radiation dermatitis, leading to topical steroid therapy. However, skin symptoms with blisters and erosions spread across the …

Muthanna Medical Journal
Background: Renal ischemia-reperfusion injury (RIRI) constitutes a significant adverse consequence that may occur subsequent to renal transplantation, surgical interventions on the kidneys, or various pathological conditions that impair the perfusion to renal tissues. This pathological state engenders considerable injury to kidney parenchyma, which is mediated by the reparative processes. A comprehensive comprehension of transient ischemia and an investigation into the underlying mechanisms of RIRI, including oxidative stress, inflammatory responses, and cellular apoptosis pathways, are imperative for the advancement of efficacious therapeutic strategies. In this study, the efficacy of a specific Wnt activator, QS11, which facilitates the activation of the Wnt/β-catenin …

Muthanna Medical Journal
The antibacterial properties of nanoparticles play a crucial role in industries such as textiles, water disinfection, pharmaceuticals, and food packaging. Given the rising concerns over antibiotic resistance, metal oxide nanoparticles (NPs) have emerged as a promising alternative. While machine learning techniques in nano informatics have shown encouraging results in predicting the antibacterial efficacy of nanoparticles, the application of deep learning methods in this domain remains limited. This study introduces a novel predictive model based on a multi-branch recurrent neural network, incorporating three types of recurrent cells: LSTM, BiLSTM, and GRU, to estimate the antibacterial effectiveness of nanoparticles. The proposed model …

Viral Etiologies Of Urinary Tract Infections: A Comprehensive Review, Husam Hussein Lazim
Viral Etiologies Of Urinary Tract Infections: A Comprehensive Review, Husam Hussein Lazim
Muthanna Medical Journal
While urinary tract infections (UTIs) are predominantly caused by bacteria, this review highlights the significant and often overlooked role of viruses as etiological agents, particularly in immunocompromised populations. Viruses such as BK polyomavirus, adenovirus, cytomegalovirus (CMV), and herpes simplex virus (HSV) can directly infect the urothelium, causing conditions like hemorrhagic cystitis, dysuria, and sterile pyuria that closely mimic bacterial UTIs. Other viruses, including JC polyomavirus, varicella-zoster virus (VZV), and SARS-CoV-2, are associated with urinary tract dysfunction through different mechanisms, such as asymptomatic viruria, neurogenic pathways, or post-viral inflammation. In contrast, systemic viruses like filoviruses and hantaviruses cause acute kidney injury …

Biometric techniques are replacing traditional passwords and Personal Identification Numbers since they are more dependable and secure. Unimodal biometric systems have various challenges, including non-universality and noisy data. The systems that use multiple modalities of biometrics can help overcome some of these restrictions, but retrieval and matching processes are time-consuming due to the high-dimensional nature of biometric data. This research proposes a serial multi-biometric recognition system using iris and face models based on only 16 features. Iris features are retrieved after splitting the region of interest into (2 × 2) blocks and computing the mean, standard deviation, and energy values …

In this manuscript, the design of event based Integral Sliding Mode Controller Eb-ISMC is considered for a nonlinear system with perturbation. The proposed controller uses a novel triggering strategy which is established according to some stability requirements. The primary benefit of this strategy is the effective usage of the system resources by reducing the total amount of control computations as compared to the classical or periodic version of ISMC. Closed-loop system stability analysis has shown that the suggested controller achieves the practical sliding mode PSM using the developed triggering control scheme. Moreover, Zeno behaviour is circumvented by developing suitable expressions …

Researchers have utilised nature-inspired metaheuristic algorithms to find solutions for complex combinatorial optimisation problems and Non-deterministic polynomial (NP) problems. The N-queens problem is categorised as an NP-Hard problem as it becomes insurmountable for large N. This paper proposed a solution for the N-queens problem based on the Apiary Organisational-Based Optimisation Algorithm (AOOA). AOOA is a nature-inspired metaheuristic optimisation algorithm for NP-Hard problems comprised of multiple beehives inside the apiary, each with its population. In contrast to the backtracking method, AOOA employs a fitness function and randomisation techniques through seven stages to approach the optimal distributions of queens so they don’t …

Since the early days of the Internet, phishing attacks have been a serious threat to the security of users and their personal information on the web. This problem raises the need to find a strict solution to minimize the cyber-attacks. This paper explores the application of machine learning models to detect phishing websites by analyzing multiple datasets containing phishing and legitimate website features. In order to evaluate machine learning models, in this study three publicly available phishing datasets were utilized. These datasets have different sizes and features. The performance of the model was evaluated on the basis of accuracy, precision, …
