Adapting To Aridity: Crop Production Trends Among Smallholder Farmers In Iramba District, Tanzania, Nashokigwa Shalua, Digna Wolfram Mlengule, Johnstone M. Andrea
Tanzanian Economic Review
Increasing crop production amid recurrent droughts remains a critical challenge for smallholder farmers in the semi-arid Iramba District; however, empirical evidence on crop production remains scarce. This paper analysed trends in crop production in Iramba District from 1995 to 2024. Mixed methods were used, and data were collected through structured interviews, focus group discussions, field observations, in-depth interviews and document reviews. Quantitative data were analysed using descriptive statistics while qualitative data were thematically analysed. The results indicate that 84.2% (n=95) of the households showed an increase in crop yields despite concurrent severe drought. Sunflower, maize, bulrush millet, and sorghum were …

This study aimed to develop e-learning media for Informatics using the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. A pretest–posttest design was used to measure improvement in student learning outcomes before and after the use of the e-learning medium. First, a learning-needs analysis was conducted to determine the objectives and content to be integrated into the e-learning module. The module was then developed systematically and implemented in the classroom with students serving as trial participants. Effectiveness was measured by comparing students’ pretest and posttest results. The findings showed a significant increase in student achievement, …

Real-Time Deep Learning Detection Of Toraja Carving Motifs Using Yolo11m For Cultural Heritage Preservation, Herman Herman, Farid Wajdi Mufti, Abdul Rachman Manga, Haidawati Nasir
Knowledge Engineering and Data Science
Toraja carvings are an important part of Indonesia’s cultural heritage, rich in symbolic, aesthetic, and philosophical meaning. However, the identification and preservation of carving motifs still rely on subjective, time-consuming manual processes, limiting scalability and inconsistent knowledge transmission. From a Knowledge Engineering and Cognitive Data Science perspective, this challenge highlights the need for mechanisms that can transform visual cultural artifacts into structured, machine-interpretable knowledge. This study investigates the use of the YOLO11m model as a data-driven approach for modeling cultural knowledge through automated detection of three Toraja carving motifs: pa_tedong, pa_kapu_baka, and pa_manu_londongan using original images collected directly from traditional …

Introduction. Fatigue is often found in patients with CKD-HD. Fatigue serves as an indicator of mortality and may be a viable target in a treatment strategy. Current research has not established the determinants of moderate PDF in individuals with CKD who are undergoing HD. Therefore, this study was conducted to prove the predictor factors of moderate PDF.
Methods. A retrospective cohort study in CKD-HD patients at Fatmawati Central General Hospital during the period of November-December 2024. The independent variables of this study are comorbidities, MIS, depression, intradialytic SBPV, dialysis vintage, UFG, IDWG, and anemia status. Primary data from …

Bringing Vignette-Based Interviews To The Forefront: A Framework For An Underused Qualitative Research Method In Education, Norma Ghamrawi, Tarek Shal, Najah A. R. Ghamrawi
The Qualitative Report
Qualitative research in educational leadership has traditionally relied on methods such as interviews and focus groups, often overlooking alternative approaches that can generate deeper interpretive insight. Among these, vignette-based methods remain notably underutilized and under-theorized in education, despite their demonstrated potential in disciplines such as health and social sciences, where they have been effectively used to explore complex, sensitive, and context-dependent phenomena. This absence is particularly pronounced in educational research, where there is a lack of systematic, structured guidance on how to design and implement vignettes with methodological rigor. This article responds to that gap by drawing together methodological insights …
Methodological Aspects In The Construction Of The Protocol In Semi-Structured Interviews, Eli Malvaceda-Espinoza, Gianpiero Flores-Pereyra
Methodological Aspects In The Construction Of The Protocol In Semi-Structured Interviews, Eli Malvaceda-Espinoza, Gianpiero Flores-Pereyra
The Qualitative Report
The purpose of this study is to identify the methodological aspects in the construction of the semi-structured interview protocol. The development of the protocol implies the methodological articulation (i.e. the coherence between question, objective, research object, design, scenario, participants, and the technique to be used). Regarding the construction of the semi-structured interview protocol, four specific phases are considered: (1) the identification of the research topics, (2) the construction of the interview script, (3) the external evaluation of the protocol, and (4) the piloting and fine-tuning of the protocol. Each of these phases guarantee greater rigor in the qualitative research under …

Resilience is one key concept of culture and ecology. It highlights a particular system's adaptive and thriving capacities in facing various challenges. This research-based article investigates the reciprocity of cultural-ecological resilience in three traditional communities in Eastern Sumba. It starts with the examination of cultural resilience and ecological resilience using five and seven qualitative indicators, respectively. The last part of the discussion analyzes how culture and ecology reciprocate in the given communities. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method. Data are collected by conducting mini-ethnographic field research for interviews, documentation, and focus group discussions. Using the five and seven indicators …
Translating The “Preposition + Which” Construction In English Legal Texts Into Indonesian, Doni Jaya
Translating The “Preposition + Which” Construction In English Legal Texts Into Indonesian, Doni Jaya
Paradigma: Jurnal Kajian Budaya
Legal text translation is challenging because of its emphasis on semantic and syntactic faithfulness, while ST structures do not always have correspondent TL equivalents. One of such structures is the English “preposition + which” (PW) construction. This construction can be difficult to translate into Indonesian because the language does not always have ready-to-use connectors to produce a structurally faithful translation, often forcing translators to take the easy way of using ungrammatical and unnatural connectors which becomes the hallmark of the Indonesian legalese style. This research seeks to examine various ways to translate PW constructions in a more grammatical and …
