Improving Stem Assessments: Strategies For Increasing The Accessibility And Adoption Of Two-Stage Exams, Kristina Callaghan Jan 2026

Improving Stem Assessments: Strategies For Increasing The Accessibility And Adoption Of Two-Stage Exams, Kristina Callaghan

LSU Doctoral Dissertations

Over three decades of research have shown that students taught using active learning strategies achieve better learning outcomes compared to those taught using traditional methods. Two-stage exams, which pair a traditional exam with a group component, are an increasingly popular method for incorporating active learning within the assessment component of a course. Previous studies have shown this assessment strategy provides a variety of benefits for students, including increased engagement and collaboration, immediate feedback, and potentially increased content retention. However, the unique circumstances of each instructor can pose a non-trivial barrier to the implementation of two-stage exams. In this thesis, we …

Objective: Resilience is a multi-faceted construct comprised of both internal and external resources that support adaptive functioning following trauma exposure. The role of resilience in ameliorating internalizing symptoms may depend on its typology as opposed to its presence alone, suggesting the existence of distinct subpopulations with heterogeneous resource profiles. The current study employs Latent Profile Analysis (LPA) to identify and characterize profiles of resilience-related resources among youth exposed to trauma from an identity-focused, cultural lens.

Method: Patterns of resources were examined in 1538 youth (Mage = 13.4, 51.9 % female) from a large longitudinal registry of trauma exposed youth in …

Analytic Continuation Of Time In Brownian Motion. Stochastic Distributions Approach, Luis Daniel Abreu, Daniel Alpay, Tryphon T. Georgiou, Palle Jorgensen Jan 2026

Analytic Continuation Of Time In Brownian Motion. Stochastic Distributions Approach, Luis Daniel Abreu, Daniel Alpay, Tryphon T. Georgiou, Palle Jorgensen

Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research

With the use of Hida's white noise space theory and spaces of stochastic distributions, we present a detailed analytic continuation theory for classes of Gaussian processes, with focus here on Brownian motion. For the latter, we prove and make use of bounds in the complex plane for the Hermite functions; as well as a new approach to stochastic distributions. This in turn allows us to present (in Section 6) an explicit formula for an analytically continued white noise process, realized this way in the complex domain. With the use of the Wick product, we then apply our complex white noise …

Body Force Influence On Healthy And Diseased Red Blood Cell Sedimentation Using Multiphase Cfd Methods, Gerald Gallagher, Fergal J. Boyle Jan 2026

Body Force Influence On Healthy And Diseased Red Blood Cell Sedimentation Using Multiphase Cfd Methods, Gerald Gallagher, Fergal J. Boyle

Research Outputs: 2025-Present

The accurate simulation of blood, which is a multiphase biofluid comprised of plasma and cellular components, is important for biomedical applications. Computational fluid dynamics is routinely used for blood simulation but traditionally treats the flow field as homogeneous. Red blood cell dynamics and deformation are important as they occupy approximately 45% of the volume in blood and control viscosity and non-Newtonian behaviour. Healthy and diseased red blood cells differ in shape and properties, and an understanding of the behaviour of these cells in flow allows for better insight into in-vitro and in-vivo applications such as early-stage disease identification, non-chemical cell …

Differentiated Learning In Pgsd: Enhancing Innovation In Teaching Module Development To Accommodate Students' Learning Styles, Dian Fitri Nur Aini Dian, Falisyta Roisatul Mar'atin Nuro Jan 2026

Differentiated Learning In Pgsd: Enhancing Innovation In Teaching Module Development To Accommodate Students' Learning Styles, Dian Fitri Nur Aini Dian, Falisyta Roisatul Mar'atin Nuro

Jurnal Pendidikan: Teori, Penelitian, dan Pengembangan

Differentiated learning is an effort to meet learning needs by adjusting to the diverse learning readiness, learning profiles, and interests of each student. Differentiated learning is expected to create effective teaching and learning activities, give students the freedom to exercise their right to learn, and facilitate students' learning needs to develop their abilities. The basic elements of differentiated learning include four (4) aspects, namely: 1) learning environment, 2) curriculum, 3) assessment, 4) learning process. These four elements are interrelated. This research model is qualitative research. The research model used in this study is a descriptive model with the aim of …

Linking Classroom Knowledge, Professional Quality, And Career Readiness Through Internship Performance: A Perspective Of Practitioners, Wonyoung Kim, Namhun Lim, Mark Vermillion, Yong-Chae Rhee, Jeffrey Noble, G Clayton Stoldt Jan 2026

Linking Classroom Knowledge, Professional Quality, And Career Readiness Through Internship Performance: A Perspective Of Practitioners, Wonyoung Kim, Namhun Lim, Mark Vermillion, Yong-Chae Rhee, Jeffrey Noble, G Clayton Stoldt

The COSMA Journal

Experiential learning has become a foundational tool of sport management (SMGT) education (Grant et al., 2024). However, there has been a lack of research on how practitioners of internship sites assess students' career readiness based on the multidimensional factors, such as internship performance, professional quality, and level of SMGT knowledge. The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of sport management (SMGT) knowledge and professional quality on students’ career readiness, which is mediated by internship performance as perceived by industry practitioners. To achieve this, a path analysis was conducted using a total of 348 final internship evaluations completed …

We Want The Truth: Fan-Driven Branding And Organizational Response In Professional Wrestling, Jason W. Lee, Nick Davidson, Tim Wilson, Dylan Williams

The COSMA Journal

This teaching case study details a monumental moment in the history of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) involving the announcement of the abrupt release of a long-tenured, beloved performer, Ron "R-Truth" Killings. The release came as a major surprise to WWE fans, as the performer had recently been featured in a high-profile, nationally televised "main event" match against the WWE icon and crossover pop culture star John Cena. After the news broke that the beloved performer would not be returning to the company, an instantaneous sentiment of shock and subsequent consumer backlash went viral. Ultimately, the WWE did an about-face, bringing …
