The Effects Of Linguistic Ostracism On Job Performance. A Replication And An Extension, John Fiset, Devasheesh P. Bhave Feb 2026

The Effects Of Linguistic Ostracism On Job Performance. A Replication And An Extension, John Fiset, Devasheesh P. Bhave

Research Collection Lee Kong Chian School Of Business

We examined the phenomenon of linguistic ostracism—instances where a focal workgroup member perceives other members of their workgroup have rejected and/or excluded them by using a language they cannot comprehend. In a 2021 article, Fiset and Bhave observed that linguistic ostracism was related to two dimensions of job performance (interpersonal citizenship and deviance) and that disidentification served as an explanatory mechanism for the linguistic ostracism–job performance relationship. We constructively replicate and extend their work in several ways. First, we replicate prior effects on interpersonal citizenship and deviance and extend their work to focus on a third dimension of job performance: …

The preparation of custom-made media offers precise control over nutrient composition, enabling detailed studies of cellular metabolism. We demonstrate how self-made media formulations enable diverse assay designs and readouts to assess cancer metabolism. Self-made media can be used in Seahorse assays to measure mitochondrial respiration under defined conditions. In nutrient deprivation experiments, amino acid or vitamin removal can uncover how cancer cells adapt to metabolic stress. Using labeled amino acids enables analysis of nascent protein synthesis and translational regulation, while stable-isotope tracing reveals metabolic fluxes through key pathways. This guide presents a suite of metabolic assays using custom-made media, covering …

Ontology verbalization refers to the process of translating formal axioms into natural language expressions. The primary objective is to facilitate the review and validation of ontology content by subject matter experts without requiring extensive technical expertise. While previous approaches based on templates or controlled grammar have been effective, they often face limitations in scalability, fluency, and adaptability. To address these issues, we developed Hootation, an open-source software system that supports ontology verbalization through both a graphical user interface and an API library. The tool implements rule-based translation of OWL2 axioms and further incorporates optional Large Language Model (LLM) components for …

Neurological Recovery After Ich Is Mediated By The Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor-Bilirubin Interplay Through Improved Erythrophagocytosis, Xiurong Zhao, Shun-Ming Ting, Guanghua Sun, Jaroslaw Aronowski

Faculty, Staff and Student Publications

Hematoma clearance after ICH is a pro-hemostatic process aiming at repair/recovery and is achieved through microglia/macrophages (MMΦ)-mediated erythrophagocytosis. Upon the engulfment of masses of erythrocytes and toxic hemolysis products, hemoglobin and heme, phagocytes convert them to bilirubin (BrB). Bilirubin is essentially not soluble in water and when overproduced, it precipitates within the cell causing injury. Thus, keeping bilirubin soluble and at a low intracellular level is needed for proper function of MMΦ. Here, using cultured microglia (MG), we found that intracellular formation of BrB in microglia during erythrophagocytosis coincides with the activation of transcription factor AhR, and AhR target genes …

Culture And Its Discontents: Versions Of Matthew Arnold From The 1860s To The 1980s, Jarrett Moran

Dissertations, Theses, and Capstone Projects

Others have focused on analyzing Taylor’s solo piano music, often reducing Taylor’s musical theories and practices into the formal structures of the music itself. To date, the scholarship has simplified Taylor’s work …
