Youth Identity Formation And Intergenerational Mentorship, Larry L. Green

Journal of Adventist Youth and Young Adult Ministries

Youth today face significant challenges in developing a clear and rooted identity, particularly within the context of faith. As cultural, social, and technological influences complicate the process of identity formation, church leaders, mentors, and parents are essential in helping guide youth to form an identity anchored in Christ. This study explores the role of intergenerational mentorship, drawing upon the model of discipleship exemplified by Jesus. It highlights the principles of relational proximity, empowerment through participation, and personalized mentorship. Additionally, the study examines how church-family partnerships strengthen the transmission of faith and offer practical strategies for church leaders to mentor youth …

In the digital age, technology significantly impacts the worldview and spiritual lives of youth, creating new challenges and opportunities for discipleship. This paper explores how faith leaders can integrate digital tools like social media, online platforms, and apps into youth mentorship to foster spiritual growth. While technology offers opportunities to engage with youth where they are, it also presents challenges like information overload, distractions, and online misinformation. By adapting Biblical mentoring models to digital spaces, mentors can build authentic relationships, break geographical barriers, and create meaningful, flexible, and creative discipleship experiences. The paper provides strategies for leveraging digital platforms to …

Kinesio Tape As A Primary Treatment Tool: An Evidence-To-Practice Review, Connor Kelly May 2026

Kinesio Tape As A Primary Treatment Tool: An Evidence-To-Practice Review, Connor Kelly

All Student Scholarship

Kinesio Tape (KT) is widely used in athletic training as a non‐invasive intervention for pain, swelling, and functional limitations, yet research findings remain inconsistent.1-3,5,7This Evidence‐to‐Practice Review evaluates current literature, including a systematic review and a meta analysis to determine the clinical effectiveness of KT as a primary treatment modality compared to several established modalities. The review synthesizes foundational theory, historical development, unsubstantiated claims, evidence‐based uses, and comparative effectiveness relative to other therapeutic interventions. Findings from the guiding manuscript indicate that KT may provide small, short‐term improvements in pain and function, but it is rarely superior to established treatments such as …

Bat Tracking Metrics As Potential Predictors Of Oblique Injury In Major League Baseball Hitters, Nicholas Deangelis May 2026

Bat Tracking Metrics As Potential Predictors Of Oblique Injury In Major League Baseball Hitters, Nicholas Deangelis

All Student Scholarship

Epidemiological data shows an increase in oblique injuries in Major League Baseball (MLB) in recent years. Throughout MLB front offices, more emphasis is being placed on bat speed and hitting the ball hard as indicators of success as a hitter. This study aims to investigate whether higher values in these advanced swing metrics are predictors of oblique injury in MLB hitters. Publicly available injury data was sourced to collect a sample of hitters who suffered oblique injuries during the 2024 and 2025 MLB seasons. These injured hitters were matched with a non-injured counterpart, and a multiple regression model was implemented …

Case Report: Gangrene After One Dose Of Investigational Stannic Pentetate Radiopharmaceutical, Zin W. Myint, Riham H. El Khouli, Bryan P. Lemieux, Charles A. Kunos

Radiology Faculty Publications

Introduction – Bone-seeking radiopharmaceuticals are the treatment of choice with clinical benefits for patients with extensive skeletal metastases, but they can also cause serious radiation-related adverse events (rrAEs). Management of rare and severe radiopharmaceutical rrAEs remains challenging because of incomplete knowledge of their natural history and pathogenetic mechanisms. We report a case of unlikely related gangrene following a protracted hospitalization after one dose of investigational [117mSn]tin-117m-diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (Sn-117m-DTPA) for treatment of extensive skeletal metastases from castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). Case presentation – An 80-year-old man with innumerable painful skeletal metastases from mCRPC developed anorexia and bilateral ankle edema with serous-draining …

Trauma-Informed Approaches In Correctional Settings, Mahlet T. Habtemeskel May 2026

Trauma-Informed Approaches In Correctional Settings, Mahlet T. Habtemeskel

Dissertations, Theses, and Projects

Trauma‑informed care (TIC) has become an important framework for understanding and responding to the needs of incarcerated individuals, who experience disproportionately high rates of childhood adversity, interpersonal violence, and systemic trauma. Research has shown that adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) early victimization shapes individual behavior patterns, justice system involvement, and emotional regulation (Ratcliff et al., 2025; Marotta, 2022). Traditional correctional models rooted in punishment, control, and surveillance often repeat the dynamics of past trauma, exacerbating emotional dysregulation, behavioral challenges, and recidivism (Desai, 2019; Slovinsky, 2023). This thesis examines the theoretical foundations, implementation strategies, and outcomes of trauma‑informed approaches in correctional settings …

Diacylglycerol Kinase Eta As A Novel Target In Nras Mutant Melanoma, Haley P. Wilson, Casey D. Stefanski, Signe Caksa, Glenn L. Mersky, Scott D. Varney, Jelan I. Haj, Dan A. Erkes, Timothy J. Purwin, Vivian Chua, Andrew E. Aplin

Department of Pharmacology, Physiology, and Cancer Biology Faculty Papers

NRAS mutations occur in 10%-30% of cutaneous melanomas and are associated with high tumor mutational burden. Mutant NRAS signaling drives aberrant cell growth and proliferation, in part, through activation of the RAF-MEK-ERK1/2 kinase pathway; however, targeted therapies to this pathway have limited effectiveness in patients with NRAS mutant melanoma. The role of other targetable signaling pathways in NRAS mutant melanoma is poorly characterized. Here, we demonstrated that one isoform of diacylglycerol kinase, diacylglycerol kinase eta (DGKη), a lipid signaling regulator, was highly expressed in NRAS mutant melanoma patient samples. Knockdown of DGKH in NRAS mutant melanoma cell lines resulted in …

Planting The Seeds Of An “Educational Revolution”: The Origins Of Upward Bound, Jack H. Kirby May 2026

Planting The Seeds Of An “Educational Revolution”: The Origins Of Upward Bound, Jack H. Kirby

Department of History

Histories of American higher education tend to suggest that the relationship between the federal government and higher education reached its apex in the 1950s before beginning to decline in the 1960s. How, then, do we understand the creation of federal TRIO programs in the 1960s and their continued growth through the remainder of the twentieth century? TRIO programs are federally funded projects intended to expand college access for non-traditional students. Through the lens of access, this paper argues that the federal government was limited in its ability to influence higher education during the post-war period because of the highly decentralized …

Outcomes Associated With Childhood Parental Divorce: An Umbrella Review Of Meta-Analyses, Gabriel Xing Da Tan, Andree Hartanto, Ysabel Thereze Ang Guevarra, Angel K. M. P. Lee, Jing Jie Kenneth Koh, K Tennakoon Appuhamillage Sandeeshwara Kasturiratna

Research Collection School of Social Sciences

Background: Childhood parental divorce has been consistently associated with a host of negative outcomes across multiple domains, such as socioemotional, behavioural, academic, and physical health, which can persist into adulthood. Despite extensive research on childhood parental divorce, the current literature lacks a systematic, integrated synthesis that clarifies which child outcomes are most consistently associated with parental divorce, as well as the potential moderators influencing these associations. Therefore, we conducted an umbrella review of meta-analyses to bridge this gap by consolidating the existing research and providing an exhaustive overview. Methods: Systematic searches were conducted across various databases and following a two-stage …

The Smallholder’S Dilemma In Agroecological Transitions: The Diseconomy Of Agroecology For Small Farmers In Industrial Agriculture, Qian Forrest Zhang May 2026

The Smallholder’S Dilemma In Agroecological Transitions: The Diseconomy Of Agroecology For Small Farmers In Industrial Agriculture, Qian Forrest Zhang

Research Collection School of Social Sciences

A scalar contradiction exists between agroecology's three goals: while ecological sustainability is best pursued at the landscape scale, social equity and livelihood goals often require organizing production at the small scale of family farms. In China's ‘industrial agriculture of small farmers’, ecological farming practices became economically unviable at small farmers' minuscule scales. Agroecological transitions almost always first go through a scale expansion, a process fraught with tension. The empirical analysis focuses on three ‘ecological farms’ that enjoyed favorable conditions unattainable to smallholders. Yet, lock-ins across five dimensions have either made their operations economically unsustainable or forced compromises in agroecological principles.

Log Off To Level Up: The Effect Of Social Media Hiatus On Goal Pursuit, Nekysha L. Y. Jalil, Yong Han Tan, Andree Hartanto, Eddie M. W. Tong May 2026

Log Off To Level Up: The Effect Of Social Media Hiatus On Goal Pursuit, Nekysha L. Y. Jalil, Yong Han Tan, Andree Hartanto, Eddie M. W. Tong

Research Collection School of Social Sciences

Concerns are growing that social media, with its constant notifications and attention-grabbing content, may distract individuals and hinder progress toward important goals. Despite its pervasive presence in our lives, the impact of social media on goal achievement has not been thoroughly studied. This within-subject experimental study aims to investigate the effects of social media hiatus (SMH), a short abstinence from social media usage, on goal pursuit processes. Participants (N= 107) completed daily diaries over three consecutive days of SMH and three days of regular social media use. SMH was manipulated by blocking participants’ access to multiple social media platforms. The …

Perception Of Socioeconomic Status: A Meta-Analysis Of Manipulations, Jacinth Jia Xin Tan, Yong En Amos Tai May 2026

Perception Of Socioeconomic Status: A Meta-Analysis Of Manipulations, Jacinth Jia Xin Tan, Yong En Amos Tai

Research Collection School of Social Sciences

The causal effects of one’s socioeconomic status (SES) on outcomes are typically examined by experimentally manipulating SES self-perceptions based on one of three SES dimensions—absolute resource, relative resource, and general social position. We investigated the efficacy of these manipulations by systematically meta-analyzing their effects on SES self-perceptions. Based on 107 eligible samples (N = 26,203), manipulations of SES self-perceptions across the three SES dimensions were effective overall (g = 0.56–0.95). Explicit priming of absolute resource and relative resource manipulations comparing high versus low SES were consistently effective—although bias-corrected effects were attenuated—suggesting the importance of salient SES information and social comparisons. …

Prairie Haven: Combating Urban Sprawl With Ecological Landscape Assemblage In Forest Lake, Minnesota, Ryan Anthony Calhoun May 2026

Prairie Haven: Combating Urban Sprawl With Ecological Landscape Assemblage In Forest Lake, Minnesota, Ryan Anthony Calhoun

Landscape Architecture Theses

Contemporary residential developments frequently default to sprawl, creating fragmented environments that lack both environmental resilience and authentic human interconnection. This thesis explores how landscape architects can utilize Assemblage Theory to design residential developments where sustainable materials, ecological systems, and social elements dynamically assemble to create a meaningful, human-scaled sense-of-place. By synthesizing the structural planning efficiency of New Urbanism, the ecological imperatives of Landscape Urbanism, and the metrics-driven performance of Ecological Urbanism, this research develops a hybridized operational approach to residential development. Applied to a master plan in Forest Lake, Minnesota, the design for “Prairie Haven” demonstrates how treating a neighborhood …
