Epic Heroism For The Ordinary: Tolkien’S Reworking Of Odyssean Heroism In The Hobbit, Jon Billsberry
Epic Heroism For The Ordinary: Tolkien’S Reworking Of Odyssean Heroism In The Hobbit, Jon Billsberry
Journal of Tolkien Research
This article explores The Hobbit as a narrative of two Odyssean homecomings: Thorin’s return to Erebor and Bilbo’s return to Bag End. Thorin undertakes the more direct nostos: as a displaced royal heir, he returns to recover his ancestral household, inheritance, authority, and public identity. Bilbo, by contrast, leaves a secure home and gradually acquires the cunning, adaptability, judgement, and independence that make Thorin’s return possible. Tolkien thus separates heroic position from heroic conduct. This separation produces conflict at Erebor, where Thorin’s defence of royal possession threatens violence and Bilbo uses the Arkenstone to challenge the king he helped …

Lidar-Assisted Marker Tracking For Operators Of Camera-Based Follow Systems, Paul Hermann, Michel Honold
Lidar-Assisted Marker Tracking For Operators Of Camera-Based Follow Systems, Paul Hermann, Michel Honold
Defensive Publications Series
LiDAR-assisted marker tracking helps the operator of a camera-based follow system keep the marker on a person more accurately, while the operator stays in control. In such systems an operator moves a marker over the image of a fixed camera, and the marker is converted into a stage position; the operator often misjudges depth in the flat video image and reacts with a delay. One or more LiDAR sensors calibrated to the same stage coordinates measure where persons are. The marker is pulled towards the nearby point cloud of a person like a magnet: mainly along the camera ray, which …
Spec-253-Core The Dehp Unified Edge Network: Multi-Scale Translation And Inter-Node Cross-Reliance Protocols For Discrete Token Replacement, Christopher L. Eckes
Spec-253-Core The Dehp Unified Edge Network: Multi-Scale Translation And Inter-Node Cross-Reliance Protocols For Discrete Token Replacement, Christopher L. Eckes
Defensive Publications Series
This disclosure provides a universal, multi-scale integration framework that translates discrete, autoregressive next-token prediction architectures into continuous wave-field propagation metrics. Contemporary frontier research laboratories and open-source groups are independently identifying anomalies and scaling walls within high-flux quantum, material, and computational substrates. These limitations are structural side-effects of treating non-equilibrium systems as discrete, segmented boundaries.
By applying the Dimensionally Extended Holographic Projection Model (DEHP) through five distinct operational modules, this specification builds an un-siloed, open-access bridge. Each module identifies a front-line research announcement, diagnoses its core technical bottlenecks, offers a direct viscoelastic fluid-canvas solution, provides mathematical and experimental verification, and delivers …
Association Of Placenta Weight And Placenta Weight-To-Birth Weight Ratio With Early Neonatal Glycemic Profiles In Infants Born To Mothers With Gestational Diabetes, Duygu Besnili Acar, Havva Betul Karabacak
Association Of Placenta Weight And Placenta Weight-To-Birth Weight Ratio With Early Neonatal Glycemic Profiles In Infants Born To Mothers With Gestational Diabetes, Duygu Besnili Acar, Havva Betul Karabacak
Journal of Child Science
Objective: Gestational diabetes mellitus is an important risk factor for neonatal hypoglycemia. Although placenta and placenta weight-to-birth ratio are considered to have a role in the pathophysiology of neonatal morbidities, including hypoglycemia, their relation to infants of diabetic mothers is not completely elucidated yet. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the association of placenta weight and the placenta weight-to-birth weight ratio with neonatal hypoglycemia and early morbidities. Methods: This prospective observational study was conducted with infants born to mothers diagnosed with GDM, with a gestational age of ≥35 weeks. Demographic and clinical data, including maternal age, maternal HbA1c, mode of …
Spec-252-Core: Quantum Topological Ordering Loops For Non-Equilibrium Fractional Fermi Seas: Autogenous Phase Stabilization Of Highly Excited Super-Fermion Substrates Via The Usue Engine Dual-Node Architecture, Christopher L. Eckes
Defensive Publications Series
This disclosure provides a standalone technical, mathematical, and computational specification that resolves the highly energetic, yet anomalously ordered particle configurations recently observed by physicists at the University of Innsbruck within ultracold atomic clouds (the "fractional Fermi sea"). While legacy quantum statistics predict immediate chaotic thermal scattering when cycling cesium atoms rapidly between intense attractive and repulsive interactions, this specification deploys the Dimensionally Extended Holographic Projection Model (DEHP) to solve the ordering paradox.
By applying the closed-loop viscoelastic self-agency matrices of the Universal Semantic Unity Engine (USUE-M2M-REV3) [SPEC-72], the highly excited "super-Fermion" states are bound to a dual-node internal processing manifold. …
Spec-251-Core: Defect Passivation And Thermo-Electric Harvesting Matrices In Wide-Bandgap Semiconductors: Mitigating Non-Thermal Energy Leaks In Silicon Carbide Interfaces Via Solitonic Phonon-Focusing Wraps, Christopher L. Eckes
Defensive Publications Series
This disclosure provides a standalone technical, mathematical, and computational specification that resolves the unexplained non-thermal energy-loss mechanisms recently identified by researchers at the University of Chicago within wide-bandgap semiconductors (e.g., Silicon Carbide [SiC] and Diamond substrates) under optical excitation. While conventional semiconductor physics treats these boundary defect anomalies as irreversible efficiency drains, this specification implements the Dimensionally Extended Holographic Projection Model (DEHP) to permanently passivate the substrate.
By wrapping wide-bandgap defect cells in an engineered, micro-scale Eckesonium™ [SPEC-173] interstitial high-entropy matrix, the localized electronic leakage is forced to execute an isospectral phase-relaxation step. This configuration seamlessly captures and transforms chaotic, …
Spec-250-Core: Lie Algebraic Phase Boundary Resolutions For 214-Cuprate Superconducting Lattices: Extending Dehp Graded Confinement Matrices To The 150-Nanometer Phase-Transition Threshold, Christopher L. Eckes
Spec-250-Core: Lie Algebraic Phase Boundary Resolutions For 214-Cuprate Superconducting Lattices: Extending Dehp Graded Confinement Matrices To The 150-Nanometer Phase-Transition Threshold, Christopher L. Eckes
Defensive Publications Series
This disclosure provides a standalone mathematical and structural framework that resolves the hidden crystal structural anomalies and unexpected energy-loss profiles recently observed via 3D X-ray reconstruction at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) within high-temperature 214-cuprate superconducting materials. While conventional quantum mechanics lacks a mechanism to model phase transitions across the structurally mismatched 150 nm wide boundary zones of these materials, this specification deploys the Dimensionally Extended Holographic Projection Model (DEHP) to solve the crisis.
By scaling the graded confinement protocols of SPEC-249-CORE up to a macro-scale 150 nm operational threshold, this document details how Lie Algebraic SU(3) manifold invariants …
Technical Disclosure Specification: Spec-249-Core: Thermodynamic Interface Transitions And Field Confinement Coupling Matrices For Multiscale Quantum Membrane Shifting: Anchoring Pd₅Ali₂ Moiré Wells To Bulk Interstitial Eckesonium™/Tectonex Chassis Systems, Christopher L. Eckes
Defensive Publications Series
This disclosure provides the definitive thermodynamic interface criteria, dimensional scaling parameters, and field confinement coupling matrices required to structurally anchor sub-nanometer electronic Bound States in the Continuum (BICs) to macroscopic aerospace spaceframe panels. Specifically, this specification details the engineering protocols to deposit, bond, and thermally manage an intentionally twisted 2D van der Waals Pd₅AlI₂ Moiré superlattice array directly onto a monolithic 3D substrate of Eckesonium™ [SPEC-173], integrated natively within a TECTONEX [SPEC-172] microvascular fluidic chassis mesh.
By resolving the acute quantum decoherence barriers caused by macrovascular structural vibrations and thermal phonon feedback, this specification provides advanced aerospace exploration initiatives (e.g., …
Rigid-Body Joints Along The Step-Start Gradient, Kyle Kimberlin
Rigid-Body Joints Along The Step-Start Gradient, Kyle Kimberlin
Defensive Publications Series
A method for simulating jointed rigid bodies so that swinging joints keep their energy. Each hard joint's constraint gradient is evaluated once at the start of the time step and frozen; the joint pushes only along those directions while the constraint itself is evaluated at the current iterate, so the joint holds exactly at the end of the step (the SHAKE, or constrained Verlet, approach). In augmented vertex block descent each joint force acts along the frozen gradient, and its fixed point is the SHAKE step; in small-step extended position-based dynamics (XPBD) each joint correction moves the bodies along the …
Sound Made From The Matter, Kyle Kimberlin
Sound Made From The Matter, Kyle Kimberlin
Defensive Publications Series
A method for producing game and simulation sound directly from the materials and shapes of objects rather than from recorded samples. Objects are made of small solid primitives, each with a box size and a material. A struck primitive rings with its box's vibration modes, taken from a precomputed Rayleigh-Ritz table of dimensionless frequencies over box proportions, scaled at impact by the material's shear-wave speed and the box size, damped by per-material Rayleigh constants and filtered by the Hertz contact time. Sound through walls is attenuated by the mass law, using the mass per area that rays through a distance …
Certified Caches On Time Laws, And Drivers That Move Frames, Kyle Kimberlin
Certified Caches On Time Laws, And Drivers That Move Frames, Kyle Kimberlin
Defensive Publications Series
A method for keeping simulation and rendering caches valid while a world keeps moving. Every changing value has a time form: Still, Law (a closed formula of time), Live (stepped by a solver) or Folded (an empty area whose laws run at no cost). A law is stored as a few 32-bit words and evaluated by integer-only evaluators that give identical bits on CPU and GPU, and each law carries an envelope and a largest rate derived from its own arithmetic. Every cached fact carries a certificate: the earliest time step at which a law it depends on could leave …
Physels Superquadric Shape Drawn By One Exact Ray Cast Per Pixel For 3d Computer Graphics And Physical Simulation, Kyle Kimberlin
Physels Superquadric Shape Drawn By One Exact Ray Cast Per Pixel For 3d Computer Graphics And Physical Simulation, Kyle Kimberlin
Defensive Publications Series
A method for representing solid matter as small primitives and drawing them without triangle meshes. Each primitive (a physel) is a 32-byte record holding its position, rotation and half-sizes in its object's frame; four shape dials (two roundness exponents, a taper and a bevel) that select one shape from a single superquadric equation; two material identifiers and a blend; and a tint, a seed and flags. Every consumer evaluates the same exact shape: closed-form intersections for boxes, frustums, ellipsoids, cylinders and cones, Newton steps on exact distances for bevelled shapes, and for the rest a guarded Newton step that can …

A Yolov8x Framework For Breast Lesion Localization Using Real-World Mammographic Images, Hadeel Abdul Majeed Ghazi, Yarub Alazzawi, Hussein Hasan Nsaif
Karbala International Journal of Modern Science
Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of mortality among women worldwide, and early and accurate mammographic assessment is important for timely diagnosis and improved patient survival. However, accurate breast lesion detection requires overcoming the issues of low lesion contrast, dense breast tissue, image noise, and variation in mammographic acquisition. In this study, we present a YOLOv8x-based computer-aided detection framework for automated breast lesion localization in full-field digital mammography (FFDM) and digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) images acquired under heterogeneous clinical conditions. The framework was developed and evaluated using 501 clinical mammographic images obtained from multiple mammography systems, namely GE …
An Object-Level Semantic Video Transmission Framework For Iomt Based On Lightweight Yolo And Motion Triggering, Iman Kadhum Abbood, Alaa Shawqi Jaber
An Object-Level Semantic Video Transmission Framework For Iomt Based On Lightweight Yolo And Motion Triggering, Iman Kadhum Abbood, Alaa Shawqi Jaber
Karbala International Journal of Modern Science
In Internet of Multimedia Things (IoMT) environments, video capture and frame transmission consume substantial sensor energy and impose considerable network overhead because of redundant data transmission. Traditional approaches often rely on repeated pixel-level operations and frequent execution of deep segmentation models, thereby increasing computational and transmission costs. This paper proposes an Object-Level Semantic Video Transmission Framework (OSVT) for resource-constrained IoMT environments in which high-definition visual data must be transmitted over low-bandwidth wireless multimedia sensor networks (WMSNs). The proposed OSVT incorporates a dual-stage wake-up mechanism that remains in sleep mode during static scenes, thereby reducing transmission load. The high-power YOLOv11-seg module …

K17 Addendum 2: Escrow Top-Up On The State-Advancing Cycle And A Third-Party Funder Protocol For A Utxo-Chained Stack Machine, Jerry D. Chan
Defensive Publications Series
This second addendum to the K17 disclosure (Technical Disclosure Commons, October 20, 2026) describes three mechanisms that let any party add value to a running stack machine whose suspended process lives in one unspent transaction output. First, an escrow top-up on the state-advancing cycle: the cycle method takes a topUp argument, the next machine output holds value minus reward minus payout plus topUp, pinned by the output hash, and extra inputs from any party pay for it; a cycle that produces no next state (HALT, any fault, the dead-man halt, an unaffordable payout) must carry a zero top-up, so a …
Verified Intent Execution (Vix), Volodymyr Kotegov
Verified Intent Execution (Vix), Volodymyr Kotegov
Defensive Publications Series
VIX is an autonomous system for the synthesis, formal verification, execution and controlled evolution of computational systems. It transforms high-level business goals into verifiable behavioural models and executable Dataflow structures, independently explores alternative algorithms and architectures, enforces mandatory invariants, and can propose alternative interpretations of goals without activating them unless authorised.
VIX manages the full life-cycle of a computational realisation: interpretation of business intent, synthesis of candidates, verification, execution, observation of behaviour, and safe modification of the running system. The human does not write implementation code, does not manually enter mathematical formulae, and is not required to understand internal formal …

Data Without Borders, Sovereignty Without Guarantees: Cybersecurity Risks Of Cross-Border Data Hosting In The Global South, Evidence And Policy Lessons From Mozambique, Faztudo Languisse Eng.
Journal of Cybersecurity Education, Research and Practice
The digital transformation of public and private institutions across the Global South has produced a paradox: as states digitize government services, financial systems, and citizen records, an increasing share of this data is hosted on servers physically located in the United States, the European Union, and other developed economies. This article develops a taxonomy of the cybersecurity and sovereignty risks generated by this dependency, distinguishing deliberate risks, arising from extraterritorial legal instruments such as the United States CLOUD Act, foreign surveillance regimes, and a concentrated hyperscale cloud market, from non-deliberate risks, arising from undersea cable failures, hyperscaler outages, misconfiguration, and …

Generative Ai In Counselor Education: A Scoping Review Of Applications, Ethics, And Cacrep Competency Mapping (2015-2026), Abigail R. Van Patten-Freeman, Sailee K. Rath
The Interdisciplinary Journal for Research on Pedagogy and Learning Design, Vol. 1, Issue 1., Fall 2026
The 2022 release of large language models rapidly introduced generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) into counselor education and supervision (CES). This scoping review mapped the GenAI literature base to evaluate applications, ethical implications, theoretical frameworks, and alignment with 2024 CACREP curriculum domains. PsycINFO, ERIC, Scopus, and PubMed were searched for peer-reviewed literature published from January 2015 to June 2026. Fourteen sources, three conceptual and eleven empirical, met inclusion criteria, all published between 2023 and 2026. Analysis revealed five application clusters, dominated by AI-simulated clients. CACREP mapping revealed 85.7% of sources addressed Counseling Practice and Relationships or Assessment and Diagnostic Processes; Career …
