A New Model Predictive Current Controller Forac-Dc Matrix Converter In Unbalanced Grids, Wenlang Deng, Minghai Wu, Haipeng Xie, Yingjie Hu

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: To reduce the fluctuation of active power on the grid side of AC-DC matrix converters under unbalanced input conditions and to address the issue of variable switching frequency in discrete model predictive control, this paper proposes a novel model predictive control method. This method selects effective vectors based on the phase angle of the grid current, thus avoiding the computational burden of evaluating the value function in traditional model predictive control. Additionally, a second-order extended complex Kalman filter is introduced, which achieves the computation accuracy of the secondorder term of the Taylor series expansion and enables the application of …

Path Planning Based On Improved A* And Dynamic Window Approach, Peng Ji, Xinyuan Zhang, Shuaixuan Gao, Shuorang Wei

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: In response to the low efficiency, redundant turning points, and collision issues of the traditional A* algorithm, a smart vehicle path planning algorithm that integrates an improved A* algorithm with a dynamic window approach has been proposed. The algorithm has enhanced the search point selection method, optimized the evaluation function, selected key turning points based on the slope values between turning points, and removed redundant turning points. Between every two optimized key turning points, a dynamic window approach that balances speed and safety is used for local obstacle avoidance. Experiments show that compared to the traditional A* algorithm, this …

Research On System-Of-Systems Confrontation Simulation Method Based On Operation Loops, Shan Zhong, Yesheng Zhu, Menglu Zhou

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: In the field of modeling and analyzing capabilities for operation system-of-systems (SoS), traditional structured capability assessment models lack the analysis of the interaction between both rivals and armies in different roles. The system model based on operation loop theory can be combined with the relationship between sensor, decision-making, influence, and target nodes for system capability calculation, but the existing model is usually only suitable for static analysis and cannot be used for dynamic simulation of SoS confrontation. In order to solve the problems above, a SoS confrontation simulation method based on operation loops is proposed. It abstracts both rivals’ …

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: In order to solve the problem of network cascade paralysis caused by urban rail station or line failure, considering the influence of the first-order neighborhood of network nodes, the load distribution impedance coefficient is proposed based on the nonlinear capacity load model, and a nonlinear capacity load optimization model considering the sum of the neighbors degree is constructed. By optimizing load structure, the alternative probability of nodes during load redistribution is adjusted to reduce the number of node failures in the cascading process, thereby the rail network invulnerability is improved. Taking Chongqing rail network as an example, the rail …

Phototaxis Is A Satiety-Dependent Behavioral Sequence In Hydra Vulgaris, Soonyoung Kim, Krishna N Badhiwala, Guillaume Duret, Jacob T Robinson Sep 2024

Phototaxis Is A Satiety-Dependent Behavioral Sequence In Hydra Vulgaris, Soonyoung Kim, Krishna N Badhiwala, Guillaume Duret, Jacob T Robinson

Faculty, Staff and Students Publications

Understanding how internal states such as satiety are connected to animal behavior is a fundamental question in neuroscience. Hydra vulgaris, a freshwater cnidarian with only 12 neuronal cell types, serves as a tractable model system for studying state-dependent behaviors. We found that starved hydras consistently move towards light, while fed hydras do not. By modeling this behavior as a set of three sequences of head orientation, jump distance and jump rate, we demonstrate that the satiety state only affects the rate of the animal jumping to a new position, while the orientation and jump distance are unaffected. These findings yield …

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: To solve the problems of invalid sampling and non-optimal paths of the RRT, the quasi-stream avoidance algorithm is proposed. The RRT algorithm is introduced to specify the sampling interval to limit the sampling points and enhance the goal-oriented nature of sampling. The quasi-stream avoidance algorithm incorporating the A* algorithm (QSA*) is used to quickly bypass the obstacle when it is encountered. A path optimization algorithm is used to smooth the searched path. The simulation results show that compared with the RRT algorithm, the computation time of the RRT-QSA* algorithm is reduced by 96.83%~99.88%, the number of search nodes is …

Anticancer immunity is predicated on leukocyte migration into tumors. Once recruited, leukocytes undergo substantial reprogramming to adapt to the tumor microenvironment. A major challenge in the field is distinguishing recently recruited from resident leukocytes in tumors. In this study, we developed an intravascular Ab technique to label circulating mouse leukocytes before they migrate to tissues, providing unprecedented insight into the kinetics of recruitment. This approach unveiled the substantial role of leukocyte migration in tumor progression using a preclinical mouse model of lung adenocarcinoma. Regulatory T cells (Tregs), critical mediators of immunosuppression, were continuously and rapidly recruited into tumors throughout cancer …

Current Challenges In South Africa’S In Higher Education Sector: A Literature Review, Victor H. Mlambo, Siphesihle Mpanza

Alustath Journal for Human and Social Sciences

This paper examines the current problems in South Africa's higher education sector. It argues that even though there has been a considerable increase in the number of enrollments in South Africa's higher education institutions since 1994, this increase has led to considerable problems, which, unless addressed, will threaten the quality of South Africa's higher education output. The paper employs the human capital theory to explain why higher education is essential and why South Africa has put it at the centre of its need for inclusive development. A narrative literature review examined the current challenges in South Africa's higher education sector. …

Brown V. Board Of Education: Enduring Caste And American Betrayal, Sheryll Cashin Sep 2024

Brown V. Board Of Education: Enduring Caste And American Betrayal, Sheryll Cashin

Georgetown Law Faculty Publications and Other Works

This article reflects on the role of residential caste in reproducing school segregation and how the Supreme Court betrays the equality principles of Brown by applying a colorblind constitutionalism that renders so-called de facto residential caste, and subsequent school segregation, acceptable.

During the seven-decade Great Migration of the 20th century, northern cities deployed policies to create an architecture of inequality in which African Americans and white Americans did not live in the same neighborhoods. While the Fair Housing Act of 1968 rendered intentional discrimination in housing markets illegal, and the Court also ruled against forms of intentional housing discrimination, …
