Low-Computational Adaptive Mpc Algorithmization Strategy For Over And Undershoots Instantaneous Water Heaters Stability, Ismael Ehtiwesh
Low-Computational Adaptive Mpc Algorithmization Strategy For Over And Undershoots Instantaneous Water Heaters Stability, Ismael Ehtiwesh
Seatific Journal
Tankless gas Hot Water users' comforting perception is severely affected by sudden changes in temperature apart from the desired temperature. The instability of the water temperature with overshoots and undershoots is the most common disadvantage that appears mainly because of the sudden changes in the water flow demanded by users and the response delays inherent to the heating system. Classical controllers for heat cells have difficulties in responding to temperature instability in a timely manner because they do not have the capacity to anticipate the effects of sudden variations in water flow rate. The model predictive control with adaptive function …

Taper Ratio Influence On The Performance Of 3-D Cavitating Hydrofoils Moving Under Free Surface, Şakir Bal
Seatific Journal
Taper ratio influence on the performance of three-dimensional (3-D) cavitating hydrofoils moving steadily under a free water surface has been investigated numerically. An iterative boundary element method (IBEM) developed before has been modified and extended to solve this problem. The fluid is assumed to be inviscid, incompressible and the flow irrotational. All variables and equations are made non-dimensional to achieve a consistent numerical scheme and a very quick convergence. The IBEM solves the hydrofoil problem and free surface problem separately with the effects of each other via their potential values in an iterative way. Both the 3-D hydrofoil surface and …

Maximum Entropy Production And Constructal Law: Variable Conductance And Branched Flow, Phillip Johnson
Maximum Entropy Production And Constructal Law: Variable Conductance And Branched Flow, Phillip Johnson
Seatific Journal
Within the scope of modern thermodynamics, several new principles have been advanced. Yet a coherent picture has not yet fully emerged beyond classical thermodynamics, in part because of the disparate nature of these principles. This work analyzes two such principles, that of maximum entropy production and also the constructal law. These ideas are compared in two examples scenarios, atmospheric convection and riverbed generation. It is shown that both ideas utilized a flow network with variable conductivity, particularly that of a branched system. Comparison is made to show underlying shared principles.

Newcastle University [UNEW] has enhanced the test section of their existing water channel facility. The new measurement section is utilized to measure pressure drop (and hence frictional drag) across a standard flat test panel (length=0.6 m; width=0.22 m). The panel can be tested as cleanly coated as well as exposed to light biofilm growth. Based on measured pressure gradients, the skin friction coefficients of these surfaces are calculated and compared with other well-established methods (i.e., measuring the boundary layer of similar surfaces using a [LDV] system in UNEW’s Emerson Cavitation Tunnel [ECT], to evaluate the pressure drop methodology. Human society is an open system that evolves by coupling with various known and unknown (energy) fluxes. How do these dynamics unfold precisely? Energetics may provide further insights. We expand on Navier-Stokes’ approach to study non-equilibrium dynamics in a field that evolves over time. Based on social fi eld th eory, an induction of th e cl assical fie ld theories, we define social force, social energy, and the Hamiltonian of an individual in society. The equations for the evolution of an individual and society are sketched out based on the time-dependent Hamiltonian that includes power dynamics. We demonstrate in …

In terms of energy efficiency, one of the main methods to avoid waste of resources is to utilize waste heat energies. The Kalina cycle is used as a bottom cycle in many areas and is used for the generation of electrical energy from waste heat energy. About 90% of world trade is carried out by sea transport. For this reason, the recovery of waste heat released into the atmosphere from ships is great importance in terms of both global pollution and energy efficiency. In this study, the recovery of waste heat energy from the exhaust gas at a temperature of …

In this study, the hydrodynamic coefficients associated with heave motion are obtained by using unsteady Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (URANS) approach. The well-known Wigley hull is selected for the calculations of uncoupled added mass and damping coefficients (A33, B33) in deep water. Numerical simulations are performed for six different oscillation frequencies at the Froude number 0.3. First, the 3D ship model is forced in the heave direction with certain frequencies and then the hydrodynamic coefficients are computed with the help of Fourier series expansion. Numerical results are compared with those obtained by the experiments and strip theory. The verification and validation study …

Existence Of Traveling Waves In A Predator-Prey Invasion Model With Nonlocal Dispersal And Delayed Effects In Dispersal, Austin Simms
Existence Of Traveling Waves In A Predator-Prey Invasion Model With Nonlocal Dispersal And Delayed Effects In Dispersal, Austin Simms
Theses and Dissertations
We investigate the existence and stability of traveling wave solutions in a predator--prey population model that incorporates both nonlocal dispersal and time-delayed interactions. The problem arises when species distributions and feeding or reproduction processes do not respond instantaneously, but rather exhibit lags in space and time. Our aim is to understand how these delays and nonlocal effects impact the wavefront speed and the eventual establishment of a predator population in previously prey-dominated regions. To accomplish this, we derive a PDE--integro--delay system from ecological considerations of prey self-regulation, predator ratio dependence, and jump-type dispersal kernels. We then employ a traveling wave …

Intervertebral disc degeneration is a major risk factor contributing to chronic low back and neck pain. While the etiological factors for disc degeneration vary, age is still one of the most important risk factors. Recent studies have shown the promising role of SIRT6 in mammalian aging and skeletal tissue health, however its role in the intervertebral disc health remains unexplored. We investigated the contribution of SIRT6 to disc health by studying the age-dependent spinal phenotype of mice with conditional deletion of Sirt6 in the disc (AcanCreERT2; Sirt6fl/fl). Histological studies showed a degenerative phenotype in knockout mice …
