Predicting Agile Success: The Critical Few Factors, Ridewaan Hanslo, Maureen Tanner Aug 2026

Predicting Agile Success: The Critical Few Factors, Ridewaan Hanslo, Maureen Tanner

African Conference on Information Systems and Technology

While Agile projects are more successful than traditional software development project management approaches, their overall success rate remains relatively low, with a high percentage of projects still deemed challenged or failed. This low project success rate is attributed to projects not being rigorously evaluated against critical success factors (CSF) of Agile projects and contemporary project success criteria. To identify the CSF that contribute to Agile software development project success as perceived by Agile practitioners, this study used a positivist approach to investigate the CSF of Agile software development projects. PLS-SEM with SmartPLS was used to analyse the data and test …

From Crisis Necessity To Sustained Use: A Process Model Of Mobile Banking Use In An Unequal Global South Context, Saadiek Basadien, Molefe Maloma, Mariam Jacobs-Basadien, Papama Mtambeka

African Conference on Information Systems and Technology

Mobile banking (m-banking) has become an important financial infrastructure, especially during crises. This study examines how users in the Western Cape, South Africa, adopted m-banking during the COVID-19 pandemic. Using a qualitative design with a construct-informed interview guide and thematic analysis of interviews, we show that adoption was driven less by innovation-seeking and more by situational necessity to maintain financial continuity and minimise health risk. Over time, crisis-triggered use evolved into value-sustained engagement anchored in convenience, financial control, and growing digital confidence. The findings identify social mediation, risk-management practices, and digital literacy as key mechanisms shaping this trajectory. We developed …

Employee Perceptions Of Artificial Intelligence Adoption And Integration: The Case Of Organisations In South Africa, Mikhail Sankar, Ayanda Pekane

African Conference on Information Systems and Technology

Various organisations in South Africa have adopted Artificial Intelligent (AI) for improving organisational efficiency and effectiveness. However, South Africa is still in the exploratory stages of AI adoption, indicating that there are gaps in AI regulation at both national and organisational levels. In addition, high unemployment in South Africa increases fears that AI could replace jobs across industries. These contextual issues affect employees as organisations invest in AI systems. Despite this, little attention has been paid to how employees perceive AI, even though it is reshaping how work is structured, done, and experienced in South African organisations. Thus, the objective …

Cross-Talk, The Honorable Raymond J. Lohier, John Q. Barrett, Noa Ben-Asher, Margaret E. Mcguinness, Mark L. Movsesian, Michael A. Perino

St. John's Law Review

(Excerpt)

You know what is interesting? This has been on my mind for a long time as my law clerk, Colin, knows. What you have all described in different ways, maybe with the exception of the religious rights case, but I will get to that, is a Supreme Court that either is, or perceives itself to be, unchecked by Congress and at times unchecked by the President, largely for reasons that we can discuss.

African Conference on Information Systems and Technology

Generation Z's growing use of social media during crises raises important questions about their motivations. This study applies Uses and Gratification Theory to investigate how four motivations — entertainment, social recognition, information sharing and altruism- drive Gen Z’s media use during emergencies and whether empathy moderates these effects. Using a scenario-based survey of 319 respondents and Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling analysis, findings reveal that social recognition and altruism motivation significantly influence social media use intensity, while entertainment seeking and information sharing intention do not. Importantly, social media use intensity simultaneously predicts both prosocial need fulfilment and content validation …

Secondary Water Saturation Of The Rock Mass And Quality Of Rocks In Active Mine Areas Bordering The Flooded Workings Of Closed Mines, Mirosława Bukowska

Journal of Sustainable Mining

The goal of this paper was to inspect the influence of capillary water saturation on the specific strain energy of sedimentary rocks. The relationships between the determined specific strain energies in an air-dried state and in a state of capillary water saturation for detrital rock were exponential, with a strong correlation among the variables. For silt, the relationships were described by a second-degree polynomial function, and the correlation was medium or weak. The relationships for kinetic and dissipated energy were described with a linear function. Pearson correlation coefficients indicated a strong correlation among the variables for detrital rock and a …
