Coordinated Data Collection For Event Correlation Analysis, Theodore Obbard, David Phillips Sep 2025

Coordinated Data Collection For Event Correlation Analysis, Theodore Obbard, David Phillips

Defensive Publications Series

Independent random sampling of different data types in large-scale applications can make it difficult to analyze correlations between separate events because the data points are often collected independently. The disclosed method provides a system for coordinated data sampling that can be managed by a client-side library. Designated 'data provider' events, such as a page load, may trigger a temporary 'coordinated mode' based on a configurable sample rate. When this mode is active, multiple, distinct 'data consumer' points across the application lifecycle can be instructed to log their granular data for a given session. When not in coordinated mode, these data …

Systems And Methods For Translating Mixed-Language Audio, Mithun Kumar S R Sep 2025

Systems And Methods For Translating Mixed-Language Audio, Mithun Kumar S R

Defensive Publications Series

Some real-time speech translation systems are architected for monolingual input and can encounter challenges, such as transcription errors or increased latency, when processing code-switched speech. The disclosed method describes a system for real-time interpretation that can ingest a raw audio stream and utilize a dual-axis model to concurrently identify both a spoken word and its language of origin. This process can produce a token stream with associated language identifiers. A subsequent syntactic bridge module can analyze this mixed-language stream to generate a language-independent grammatical representation of the utterance's semantic content. This abstract structure may then be used to synthesize a …

Ada-Application Of Decision Analysis For Developing A Healthcare System To Predict Fetal Health, Melfi Alrasheedi, Theyazn.H.H Aldhyani Sep 2025

Ada-Application Of Decision Analysis For Developing A Healthcare System To Predict Fetal Health, Melfi Alrasheedi, Theyazn.H.H Aldhyani

Iraqi Journal for Computer Science and Mathematics

A fatal health condition involves an unborn baby that persists throughout the embryonic stage until delivery. The fetus grows and develops during each trimester of pregnancy. Obstetricians may detect fetal anomalies and select medical interventions based on cardiotocogram (CTG) data. However, the obstetrician's visual assessment of CTG data can sometimes be subjective or inaccurate. Therefore, automated analysis using machine learning approaches for CTG data is essential. This research employs decision analysis techniques, including decision trees (DT), gradient boosting (GB), and type-2 fuzzy neural networks (FNN), for prenatal analysis and prediction. The system was tested using a standard dataset consisting of …

Retracted: Hotspot Issue Handling And Reliable Data Forwarding Technique For Ocean Underwater Sensor Networks, Omar Adil Mahdi, Yusor Rafid Bahar Al-Mayouf, Sameer Sami Hassan Al-Obaidi, Bourair Al-Attar, Hamed Balogun, Suleman Khan

Iraqi Journal for Computer Science and Mathematics

Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks (UWSNs) have emerged as a promising technology for a wide range of ocean monitoring applications. The UWSNs suffer from unique challenges of the underwater environment, such as dynamic and sparse network topology, which can easily lead to a partitioned network. This results in hotspot formation and the absence of the routing path from the source to the destination. Therefore, to optimize the network lifetime and limit the possibility of hotspot formation along the data transmission path, the need to plan a traffic-aware protocol is raised. In this research, we propose a traffic-aware routing protocol called PG-RES, …

Air Pollution And Diseases: Signaling, G Protein-Coupled And Toll Like Receptors, Isabella Cattani-Cavalieri, Katrina F. Ostrom, Jordyn Margolis, Rennolds S. Ostrom, Martina Schmidt

Pharmacy Faculty Articles and Research

Air pollution is a significant public health issue that impacts lung health, particularly in vulnerable populations such as children, the elderly, and individuals with pre-existing respiratory conditions. Both natural and anthropogenic sources of air pollution give rise to a variety of toxic compounds, including particulate matter (PM), ozone (O₃), sulfur dioxide (SO₂), nitrogen dioxide (NO₂), carbon monoxide (CO), and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). Exposure to these pollutants is strongly associated with the development and exacerbation of respiratory diseases, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung cancer, and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Notably, early life exposure to pollutants such as …

Preconditioning With Low-Dose Radiation Improves Antitumor Immunity And Survival In Dc-Vaccinated Mice, Eric Kwon, Shelby Namen, Colin J Willoughby, Solomon Kang, Gaurav Pandey, Alexander B Kim, Carl J Deselm Sep 2025

Preconditioning With Low-Dose Radiation Improves Antitumor Immunity And Survival In Dc-Vaccinated Mice, Eric Kwon, Shelby Namen, Colin J Willoughby, Solomon Kang, Gaurav Pandey, Alexander B Kim, Carl J Deselm

2020-Current year OA Pubs

Preconditioning regimens are essential for the immunologic success of cell therapies like CAR T cells. Nevertheless, their effect on cancer vaccines is underexplored, and preconditioning regimens are generally absent from cancer vaccine clinical trials. To address this knowledge gap, we evaluated the impact of various preconditioning strategies on dendritic cell (DC) vaccine efficacy in a murine tumor model. Mice bearing syngeneic tumors received preconditioning with 2 Gy low-dose radiation therapy (LD RT; whole-body or tumor-only), cyclophosphamide, paclitaxel, LD RT plus cyclophosphamide, or no preconditioning, followed by administration of antigen-loaded DCs. Whether whole-body or tumor-directed, LD RT preconditioning significantly enhanced vaccine-induced …

Research Outputs: 2025-Present

Scholars are grappling with what educational and pedagogical approaches are needed to create sustainable entrepreneurs able to cope with sustainability challenges. This paper explores the impact of a student-focused climate entrepreneurship education initiative (CEE) in Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin). The paper draws on models and frameworks in the literature that integrate programme objectives and pedagogical methods with impact. The paper addresses two key questions. Firstly, how are students impacted by CEE in terms of the affectedness, skills development and the intention to start a climate enterprise. The second question asks how different types of interventions in CEE influence student …

Ai-Enabled Autonomous Weapons And Human Control: Part I: Human Control And Machine Learning Design And Development, Lena Trabucco

International Law Studies

At the center of the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) and autonomous weapon systems (AWS) is the challenge of human control. AI has the potential to reshape the boundaries of military capabilities. In particular, the increasing sophistication of AWS necessitates a deep examination of the balance between machine autonomy and the role and requirements of human decision-makers. In pursuit of this balance, the concept of meaningful human control emerged. It is a concept born of necessity and offers a platform to reexamine and redefine the scope of human involvement in critical and time-sensitive decision-making. MHC has become a defining feature …

Perspectives On Mathematical Modeling Education: Conceptions And Research, Geena Taite, Joseph Dinapoli Sep 2025

Perspectives On Mathematical Modeling Education: Conceptions And Research, Geena Taite, Joseph Dinapoli

Department of Mathematics Faculty Scholarship and Creative Works

Mathematical modeling is a cyclical process in which mathematics is used to represent, explore, and better understand real-world situations by mathematizing a problem and validating the results. Unlike traditional word problems, modeling tasks require learners to make assumptions, define quantities, apply mathematics, interpret results, and revise solutions within authentic contexts. Mathematical modeling is increasingly recognized as essential in mathematics education, highlighted in standards such as the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics through mathematical practice 4 (MP4): model with mathematics. This entry explores the evolving landscape of mathematical modeling education. First, it reviews the diverse conceptions of modeling and the …

The Impact Of Communication And Job Satisfaction On Registered Nurse Turnover, Kingsley Kenechukwu Onyeama Sep 2025

The Impact Of Communication And Job Satisfaction On Registered Nurse Turnover, Kingsley Kenechukwu Onyeama

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Health care leaders are challenged with ongoing nursing shortages. The purpose of this quantitative, correlational study was to examine the impact of communication and job satisfaction on registered nurses’ turnover intentions. The conceptual framework integrated Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, Herzberg and Mausner’s Motivation-Hygiene Theory, and Social Exchange Theory. Two research questions guided the study: the relationship between communication variables and intent to leave a healthcare organization, and the relationship between job satisfaction and intent to leave. A randomized sample of 156 registered nurses in California, aged 23 to 65 and identified through the California Nurses Database, was recruited via SurveyMonkey. …

Building Multimodal Knowledge Graphs: Automation For Enterprise Integration, Ritvik Garimella, Hong Yung Yip, Revathy Venkataramanan, Amit P. Sheth

Publications

As enterprises increasingly aim to incorporate artificial intelligence into their workflows to tackle complex, multimodal tasks, the demand for intelligent, robust, and trustworthy systems is paramount. While multimodal large language models offer initial capabilities for processing diverse data streams, their dependence on embedding-based representations limit their effectiveness in delivering semantically grounded explanations and reasoning, as well as qualities essential for enterprise-grade applications. Neurosymbolic approaches provide a promising alternative by enabling traceable, context-aware decision making. However, constructing enterprise-level multimodal knowledge graphs (MMKGs) that enable neurosymbolic approaches remains largely impractical. Although prior efforts have explored MMKG construction, they fall short in addressing …
