The Moderating Role Of Self-Esteem In The Relationship Between Perceived Gender Bias And Job Satisfaction Among Women In The Technology Industry, Roberta L. Minicola

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Women employed in the technology industry continue to experience gender-based bias that may adversely affect job satisfaction. Although the deleterious impact of gender bias on women’s job satisfaction has been well documented, the potential of self-esteem to mitigate this impact has not yet been examined. Informed by social dominance theory, the purpose of this quantitative, cross-sectional, correlational study was to examine the moderating effect of self-esteem on the relationship between perceived gender bias (i.e., insufficient support, devaluation, hostility) and job satisfaction among women working in the U.S. technology sector. Data were collected from 138 female technology professionals recruited through Amazon …

Semantic Navigation Using Generative Models And Graphical Maps, Mbhb Mbhb, Artemis Panagopoulou, Aveek Purohit, Achin Kulshrestha, Soroosh Yazdani, Mohit Goyal

Defensive Publications Series

Indoor navigation presents a significant challenge because Global Positioning System (GPS) accessibility is limited in interior spaces and static environmental scans often fail to generalize as environments change. To address these limitations, a novel methodology utilizes generative models to produce diverse map layouts and vision-language models (VLMs) to interpret potentially walkable areas within those layouts. By scaling this approach to generate a large dataset, significant improvements are achieved in the wayfinding capabilities of the models. This technology is particularly applicable to navigational agents and wearable devices, such as glasses, that require real-time semantic understanding of human-readable graphical maps. The resulting …

Chulalongkorn Medical Journal

Background: Detecting bone union is a crucial process in treating bone fractures to prevent complications, including implant failure and bone nonunion. Nowadays, there are many methods and new innovative devices for detecting bone union through strain measurements, such as strain gauges, fluid level displacement, contrast media, and frequency changes. There is also a trend toward increasing these methods in the future. However, the patterns of bone healing studied with these methods still do not provide a standard for determining the true bone healing process. The aim of this study is to identify the most appropriate bone healing pattern for …

International Journal of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education

This study explores the intersection of psychological ownership (PO) and self-authorship (SA) in the context of university students’ project-based learning. It examines how students develop a sense of ownership over their course projects, ideas, and knowledge they create, and how this engagement shapes their learning, identity, and sense of self. The findings highlight the role of control and perceived idea quality in fostering psychological ownership, as well as the importance of intimate knowledge and perceived object quality in supporting self-authorship. The study underscores that when students feel connected to their ideas, their motivation, persistence, and engagement increase, especially in creativity-driven …

The Sky’S Indifference, Emmah Schuster Feb 2026

The Sky’S Indifference, Emmah Schuster

Night Flight: Online Literary Journal

The story follows Jamie Harper's first solo flight as it shifts from exhilaration to diorientation and fear when he loses radio contact and becomes lost. As he struggles to navigate an unfamiliar landscape and worsening conditions, the narrative highlights themes of isolation, human vulnerability, and the limits of courage in the face of an indifferent natural world. His fatal crash serves as a sobering reminder that ambition and determination do not always guarantee survival.

Structural And Mechanical Properties Facilitate Shock Wave Damping By Helmet-Like Orbital Hoods In Snapping Shrimp, Mia Kazel, Rebekah E. Cammack, Alexandra C.N. Kingston, Ahmed A. Alshareef, Tarek Shazly, Daniel Isaac Speiser

Faculty Publications

Snapping shrimp damp the shock waves they produce and use as weapons with a helmet-like structure termed the orbital hood. Here, we ask how structural and material properties contribute to shock wave damping by orbital hoods in Alpheus heterochaelis. Using tensile mechanical testing, we find orbital hoods are approximately half as stiff as carapace and have twice the capacity for viscous energy dissipation. Microstructural features probably contribute to tissue-specific mechanical properties: the endocuticles of orbital hoods have almost twice as many lamellae as those of carapaces despite being half as thick, suggesting a mechanism for enhanced material mobility underlying …

An increase in the occurrence of large, high severity wildfires in the western Pacific Northwest (PNW), USA, has created an urgent need for science to better inform forest management and policy decisions to maintain source water quality in the region. The western PNW faces similar challenges to other regions with shifting wildfire regimes and large population centers reliant on surface water from forested catchments. However, the uniquely wet and highly seasonal climate of the western PNW suggests that findings from other, more frequently burned regions may not be directly applicable. To identify science, monitoring, and management gaps and opportunities in …
