Desain Pin Hole Mempengaruhi Kuat Rekat Geser Gigitiruan Jembatan Adesif Pin Hole Design Affect Shear Bond Strength Of Adhesive Bridge, Edy Machmud, Moh. Dharmautama, Herawati Herawati
Dentofasial
To overcome the failure of adhesive bridge due to release of the adhesive bond cement between teeth and metal,
preparation modification was performed with a pin hole in the teeth cingulum. This study aimed to determine the effect
of thread on a pin hole to shear strength adhesion of adhesive bridge. Forty maxillary incisors were prepared at their
palatinal surfaces 0.3 mm thick, and were divided into four treatments (threaded hole+threaded pin, threaded holes+
non-threaded pin, non-threaded holes+threaded pin, non-threaded holes+non-threaded pin). Casted-plates made from
nickel chromium alloy were cemented to the palatal surface of the tooth with adhesive cement …

Pasak Estetik Dari Bahan Fiber Reinforced Composite Esthetic Post Made Of Fiber Reinforced Composite Materials, Emy Ardana, Aries Chandra Trilaksana
Dentofasial
The prosthetic treatment of seriously damaged teeth after treated with endodontic often require an endodontic post as
an additional retention element for core build-up prior to crown restoration. In addition to metal-based posts and
zirconia-based ceramic posts, fiber reinforced composite (FRC) post system has become to be widely used in the
restoration of endodontically treated teeth. A FRC post offers a number of advantages over a metal post due to its
modulus of elasticity being closer to that of dentin and superior esthetic quality. Teeth restored with FRC posts show
better resistance to fracture propagation than teeth restored with prefabricated …

To overcome the failure of cement adhesive bond between tooth and metal surfaces, a variety of alternative treatments
is applied to the metal and tooth surfaces. In order to overcome this disadvantage, this study deals with the treatment
on the metal surface in mesh form. This research examined different mesh sizes of 40, 60 and 80 mesh to the metal
surface treatment in shear bond strength of adhesive resin cement. 40 pairs of upper central incisors samples were
prepared in palatal surfaces with a thickness of 0.3 mm and made a pattern of blue wax. The samples were divided into …
New Release Of Maria Callas Live Copenhagen Concert Of June 9, 1963, John H. Haley
New Release Of Maria Callas Live Copenhagen Concert Of June 9, 1963, John H. Haley
Journal of the Jussi Björling Societies of the USA & UK
Members of the Society will recall the 2016 CD release of Jussi Björling’s wonderful October 15, 1959 recital in Copenhagen at Falkoner Centret, the existence of which was previously unknown. The tape for that release was one of a number I acquired of live concerts recorded at that venue by the hall itself, all in fine sound. I have just released another important one, Maria Callas’ live concert there on June 9, 1963, with the Danish Radio Symphony conducted by Georges Prêtre. Callas became much less active on the opera stage starting in 1962, making her last performances in 1965. …

Singer’S Choices:, Allan Buchalter
Journal of the Jussi Björling Societies of the USA & UK
On occasion, a composer will place an additional musical staff above a solo singer’s staff so that the singer can choose which version he/she wishes to sing. Sometimes it is a difference of just a few notes, but can also completely change the melodic line, as I’ll illustrate towards the end of this article, with a Björling and Corelli example, after first mentioning a few “oppure” choices (generally abbreviated in scores as “Opp.”).
What oppure is not, is when due to tradition, or for some other reason, a singer takes it upon himself/herself to add something to an aria, duet, …

Osha’S Knocking! A Descriptive Cross-Sectional Analysis Of Inspections At Private Universities In Florida., Acuna Gonzalez Santiago
Student Research Symposium (SRS)
Section 8 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSH Act) empowers OSHA to conduct inspections and enforce standards prescribed in Title 29 of the Code of Federal Regulations; however, limited literature and lack of descriptive statistics exist regarding oversight and inspection patterns across Higher Education Institutions (HEI) in Florida. Assessing these patterns is paramount for aiding higher education stakeholders in evaluating their hazard identification and control techniques. This descriptive cross-sectional study examined OSHA's inspection database — January 1, 2015 to October 20, 2025 — indexed by NAICS code 611310, analyzing all 32 four-year non-profit HEI with at least 1,000 …

This publication contains information that may be useful to municipalities, stormwater professionals, rainwater harvesting system owners and/or managers, homeowner associations, and stormwater educators, among others, on what is passive and active release, including their benefits and where to find more information.
Numerals And Other Means Of Expressing Plurality In Language And Thought: A Developmental Perspective Across Cultures., Giovanni Giuseppe G.G. Nicosia Prof.
Numerals And Other Means Of Expressing Plurality In Language And Thought: A Developmental Perspective Across Cultures., Giovanni Giuseppe G.G. Nicosia Prof.
Numeracy
Several ancient languages use linguistic structures to differentiate between singular, dual, and plural forms that are used when one, two, or many objects are referenced. (Some languages go further, adding a trial form to differentiate two from three.) In many modern languages, numerals are used to convey precise number. After reviewing a range of ways languages express number (including the interesting case of Pirahã which does not express precise number), the paper concludes with a proposed developmental path for the expression of quantity in languages.

Civil and Environmental Engineering Student Research
This study examines the seismic response of reinforced concrete (RC) bridge piers subjected to ground motion (GM) records from the 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquake by comparing the impact of pulse-like versus no-pulse records. A suite of 300 nonlinear Bouc-Wen hysteretic models was developed to represent piers with varying nonlinear behavior. Each Bouc-Wen model was assessed under 24 pulse-like and 28 no-pulse GMs, resulting in 15,600 nonlinear time-history simulations. Subsequently, the relationship between Bouc-Wen parameters (i.e., period and yield displacement) and seismic responses (i.e., maximum displacement, residual displacement, and maximum acceleration) was analyzed. The results show that pulse-like records produce 5 times …

When The Student Surpasses The Teacher: Better Generalization In Ai-Based Seismic Waveform Quality Assessment Using Knowledge Distillation, Ali Namin, F. Jalaeifar, A. Kottke, M. Zaker Esteghamati
Civil and Environmental Engineering Student Research
This paper presents a knowledge distillation (KD)-based approach to reduce computational expenses and improve the generalizability of deep learning-based models for quality assessment of seismic waveforms. Using two different waveform datasets, teacher models are distilled into lightweight student models from two families of time-series-based and image-based models. Models from both student families are trained on a development dataset and evaluated on the testing portion of the development dataset, as well as on an entirely different external testing dataset. Results indicate that KD can provide student models with substantially reduced size (5%-10% of the teacher model's size) and latency while preserving, …

Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy is widely adopted for assessing biochemical composition in agriculture. This study evaluated the feasibility of 400 MHz NMR to detect biochemical differences in Hass avocados grown under conventional (N = 101) and regenerative (N = 105) farming practices in Southwestern Australia. Phosphite, associated with Phytophthora root rot management, was a key discriminating feature (area under ROC curve = 0.96), being detected in 90% of conventional avocados (mean: 49 mg/kg) and 6 regenerative samples (mean: 24 mg/kg). To assess translational potential, water extracts of five samples were analyzed using 80 MHz benchtop NMR. Phosphite was detectable …

Computational Modeling Of Enhanced Nonlinear Optical Response In Plasmonic Waveguide Devices With Epsilon-Near-Zero Films, Kevin T. Le, Mark C. Harrison
Computational Modeling Of Enhanced Nonlinear Optical Response In Plasmonic Waveguide Devices With Epsilon-Near-Zero Films, Kevin T. Le, Mark C. Harrison
Engineering Faculty Articles and Research
Silicon photonics faces fundamental limitations in nonlinear applications due to weak Kerr nonlinearity, substantial two-photon absorption, and coupling challenges with subwavelength structures. This work investigates epsilon-near-zero (ENZ) materials integrated into plasmonic waveguide architectures for enhanced nonlinear photonic devices. ENZ materials exhibit nonlinear refractive indices several orders of magnitude higher than conventional materials near their zero-permittivity wavelength, enabling giant optical effects over deeply sub-wavelength interaction lengths. We present finite element method simulations of plasmonic ENZ waveguides, investigating layer thickness optimization for nonlinear enhancement while minimizing optical losses. Initial modal analysis confirms superior field confinement in hybrid plasmonic-ENZ structures compared to conventional …

Rett syndrome (RTT) is a neurological disorder caused by loss-of-function mutations in methyl CpG binding protein 2 (MECP2), a transcriptional regulator essential for maintenance of normal neuronal function. The current FDA-approved treatment for RTT, Trofinetide, mildly alleviates some symptoms. In contrast, re-introducing MeCP2 or increasing its amount through transgenesis in mouse RTT models improves most neurological phenotypes and enhances survival. Here, we devised a therapeutic strategy to moderately increase MeCP2 protein by modulating the alternative splicing of MECP2 to switch the less efficiently translated e2 to the more efficiently translated e1 isoform. We deleted Mecp2 exon 2 (unique …
Neuromodulating Mammals For Military Operations: Ethical Responsibility And Governance In Security Domains, Elise Annett, James Giordano
Neuromodulating Mammals For Military Operations: Ethical Responsibility And Governance In Security Domains, Elise Annett, James Giordano
Strategic Insights
This commentary examines ethical and governance challenges associated with the potential use of neurotechnology to influence the behavior of marine mammals for military purposes. While the use of dolphins and sea lions in naval operations has historical precedent, reports suggesting that advanced neurotechnologies may be used to modulate or control the behavior of orcas represent a significant ethical and legal inflection point. Invasive neuromodulation techniques, such as implantable neural interfaces, pharmacological modulation, or remote stimulation raise serious concerns about animal welfare, agency, and the potential dual-use implications of neurotechnology. Stronger governance frameworks, including international dialogue, Department of War policy guidance, …

Sensing Negative-Cone Rotational Diffusion Of Dipole-Like Emitters, Yuanxin Qiu, Kaizhi A. Nie, Matthew D. Lew
Electrical & Systems Engineering Publications and Presentations
Fluorescence anisotropy and single-molecule orientation-localization microscopy (SMOLM) are powerful techniques that quantify the rotational diffusion of dipole-like emitters, which is important for sensing molecular interactions and chemical environments at the nanoscale. Numerous theoretical and experimental studies have thoroughly characterized single-molecule rotations even when those rotations are much faster than the detector integration time. Here, we extend the theory of measuring rotational diffusion to situations where a single dipole rotates uniformly everywhere outside of an isotropic cone of a certain size, termed a negative cone. This scenario corresponds to negative fluorescence anisotropy 𝑟 and has been observed in emitters exhibiting strong …

Tutoring Prompt For Personalized Self-Study Using Generative Ai, Vasiliy S. Znamenskiy
Open Educational Resources
This educational material presents a reusable tutoring prompt for general-purpose generative AI systems (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Perplexity) designed to support personalized self-study. The prompt turns a chatbot into an adaptive self-testing engine: it asks a sequence of multiple-choice questions, waits for the learner’s response, provides brief feedback, and adjusts difficulty based on performance. While the approach can be adapted to many disciplines, the current implementation is tuned to College Physics 2e, Chapter 21 (Circuits and DC Instruments) and uses “formulas only” answer choices to emphasize symbolic reasoning and reduce reliance on verbal cues. Shared in the spirit …

Cardeza Foundation for Hematologic Research
Vaso-occlusion is a signature pathology of sickle cell disease (SCD). However, the lack of in vivo methods to observe individual blood cell dynamics in humans limits our understanding of occlusion formation mechanisms. We present a novel in vivo, noninvasive, label-free, and high-resolution imaging technique to study blood flow and sickled cell behavior in affected individuals. We used oblique back-illumination microscopy (OBM) to capture videos of 91.0 ± 42.3 sublingual capillaries in each of 10 participants with SCD before and after red cell transfusions and compared the measurements to 10 unaffected controls. With direct observation of blood cell activity, we identified …

A Pocket Manual For Human Papillomavirus Vaccines, Natalie A Voss, J Brooks Jackson, Mary B Rysavy
Faculty, Staff and Student Publications
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection worldwide and is responsible for the majority of cervical, anal, and vaginal cancers. The first prophylactic HPV vaccine was introduced in the United States in 2006. Extensive evidence demonstrates the HPV vaccine is highly efficacious and effective, particularly when administered prior to HPV exposure. Despite strong safety data and proven cost-effectiveness, HPV vaccine uptake in the United States and globally remains suboptimal. Barriers to vaccination include limited knowledge, safety concerns, and logistical challenges. Current advancements focus on single-dose vaccine regimens, development of therapeutic vaccines, and higher-valent formulations. Expanding HPV vaccine …

Hydrogen Defects In Labi2o4x (X = Cl, Br, And I) Sillén Oxyhalide Phases And Their Impacts On Ionic Transport, Shin Young Kang, Andrew J.E. Rowberg, Shenli Zhang, Joel B. Varley
Faculty Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activity
Sillén oxyhalides have recently emerged as promising materials for both photocatalytic and ionic transport applications, yet the role of likely-ubiquitous hydrogen-related defects in these layered compounds remains largely unexplored. Here, we employ first-principles defect calculations to investigate incorporation energetics for hydrogen- and oxygen-related defects, as well as their migration barriers in LaBi2O4X (X = Cl, Br, I) phases. We find that hydrogen interstitials, particularly protonic species (Hi+), are readily accommodated within the open Bi–O layers. Protons compete with oxygen vacancy donors (VO2+) and charge-compensate with oxygen interstitial acceptors (Oi2−). By linking hydrogen defect formation …

2020-Current year OA Pubs
UNLABELLED: Multiple myeloma is a malignancy of clonally expanded plasma cells shaped by complex interactions with the immune microenvironment (IME). To investigate immune correlates of treatment response and disease progression, we conducted multi-omics profiling including CD138neg single-cell RNA sequencing of 243 bone marrow samples from 102 patients (631,226 cells) and CD138pos bulk RNA and whole-genome sequencing from 209 samples. In longitudinal analyses, interferon-γ signaling associated with markers of impaired T-cell memory after autologous stem cell transplant, whereas naïve B-cell abundance and immunoglobulin diversity correlated with improved progression-free survival (HR = 0.48; P = 2.3e-4). At disease progression, multiple myeloma cells …
Dual-Function Plasmonic Structure For Logic Operations And Circular Polarization Detection, Marjan Bazian, Mark C. Harrison
Dual-Function Plasmonic Structure For Logic Operations And Circular Polarization Detection, Marjan Bazian, Mark C. Harrison
Engineering Faculty Articles and Research
Many integrated photonic devices have a high potential for dual applications, making them more versatile components in photonic integrated circuits. In this study, we show that a plasmonic XOR gate structure, originally designed to perform logic operations, can also be used as a circular polarization detector. This multi-purpose capability stems from the phase-encoded input mechanism that controls the output response of the structure. We adapted this mechanism to select the output based on the polarization state of light. The design of this structure, utilizing the subwavelength field confinement of plasmonic waveguides, enables the integration of logic and detection functions into …

The Influence Of Noise On Uk Number Plate Letter Recognition In Humans And Convolutional Neural Networks, Gunnar Schmidtmann
School of Health Professions
UK number plates contain symbols based on the Charles Wright font. The Driver & Vehicle Licencing Agency (DVLA) regulations specify precise dimensions of the letters, e.g., a uniform width, leading to dissimilar distances between letter features (strokes), presumably resulting in different acuities. Using the method of constant stimuli with a single interval five alternative forced choice paradigm, we measured acuities for high-contrast DVLA letters (E, S, M, W, O), chosen based on their distinctiveness (O vs. E) and similarity (M vs. W). To assess the influence of noise, we measured acuities for letters with added Salt-and-Pepper noise (10%, 25% and …
