The Aerospace Corporation’s Rogue-alpha, betaprogram, co-funded by the Space and Missile Systems Center’s Development Corps, is a rapid prototyping effort that built and launched two 3-Unit CubeSats equipped with modified commercial IR camera payloads, laser communications and precision pointing capabilities in 18-months. Launched on 2 November 2019, the two spacecraft were released from the ISS Cygnus NG-12 robotic resupply spacecraft on 31 January 2020 into a circular 460-km, 52° inclined orbit. The two Rogue spacecraft are serving as testbeds for studying wide-field-of-view fast-framing imaging, on-orbit stellar calibration techniques for small IR payloads, and associated spacecraft flight operations. Precision pointing is …

Planet currently manages the largest commercial fleet in the world with multiple constellations and more than two hundred satellites in active operation. The SkySats are high resolution imaging spacecraft operating in a Low Earth Orbit; their mission is to image the Earth. After the recent launch of six satellites, the SkySat Constellation is complete with a total of twenty one satellites. This ‘block’ of spacecraft launched on two separate launches; it was the most ambitious and challenging set of SkySat launches and commissioning campaigns Planet has executed. The satellites launched into an inclined and extremely low altitude and required a …

First-Generation Commuter Student Experiences, Heena Lodhia
First-Generation Commuter Student Experiences, Heena Lodhia
M.A. in Higher Education Leadership: Action Research Projects
Abstract
Studies have shown that first-generation commuter (FGC) students navigate their college experience differently in comparison to traditional, continuing generation students. One of the biggest distinctions is how first-generation (FG) students are closely tied to their familial identity. As these students come from an environment and mindset that is more collective and interdependent, they can struggle to find a sense of belonging, community, and support from their institution. By physically living off-campus, FG commuter student’s persistence, well-being, and ability to build relationships on campus can prove to be challenging. Therefore, as a Graduate Assistant in the Commuter Student Commons, I …

Molten lithium tetrafluoroberyllate (LiBeF) salt, also known as FLiBe, with a 2:1 mixture of LiF and BeF is being proposed as a coolant and solvent in advanced nuclear reactor designs, such as the molten salt reactor or the fluoride salt cooled high-temperature reactor. We present the results on the structure and properties of FLiBe over a wide range of temperatures, 0-2000 K, from high-throughput molecular dynamics simulation using a supercell model of 504 atoms. The variations in the local structures of solid and liquid FLiBe with temperature are discussed in terms of a pair distribution function, coordination number, and bond …

We develop a physics-based kinematic model of martial arts movements incorporating rotation and angular momentum, extending prior analyses. Here, our approach is designed for a classroom environment; we begin with a warm-up exercise introducing counter-intuitive aspects of rotational motion before proceeding to a set of model collision problems that are applied to martial arts movements. Finally, we develop a deformable solid-body mechanics model of a martial arts practitioner suitable for an intermediate mechanics course. We provide evidence for our improved model based on calculations from biomechanical data obtained from prior reports as well as time-lapse images of several different kicks. …

The ability of sound energy confinement with high-quality factor resonance is of vital importance for acoustic devices requiring high intensity and hypersensitivity in biological ultrasonics, enhanced collimated sound emission (i.e. sound laser) and high-resolution sensing. However, structures reported so far have been experimentally demonstrated with a limited quality factor of acoustic resonances, up to several tens in an open resonator. The emergence of bound states in the continuum makes it possible to realize high quality factor acoustic modes. Here, we report the theoretical design and experimental demonstration of acoustic bound states in the continuum supported by a single open resonator. …

Abstract
Introduction:
Artificial intelligence (AI) is the process of automating tasks that were traditionally done manually. AI can be used throughout the dosimetry treatment planning process for external beam radiation treatments. Artificial intelligence has the opportunity to help reduce treatment planning time and help to increase the quality of treatment plans. The workload of cancer treatment facilities across the United States varies greatly. This study aims to determine if the workload of a treatment facility has an impact upon the usage of artificial intelligence during treatment planning.
Methods:
This study is a qualitative study of 96 survey participants. The survey …

Oncostatin M (OSM) is a pleiotropic, interleukin-6 family inflammatory cytokine that plays an important role in inflammatory diseases, including inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and cancer progression and metastasis. Recently, elevated OSM levels have been found in the serum of COVID-19 patients in intensive care units. Multiple anti-OSM therapeutics have been investigated, but to date no OSM small molecule inhibitors are clinically available. To pursue a high-throughput screening and structure-based drug discovery strategy to design a small molecule inhibitor of OSM, milligram quantities of highly pure, bioactive OSM are required. Here, we developed a reliable protocol to produce highly pure …

Seven Percussion Compositions, Standard And New, Kramer Reed Sell
Recital Papers
The modern percussionist sees further by standing on the shoulders of standard percussion composers and by composing, commissioning, and performing new works. Achieving an enriched performance of both standard and new percussion pieces occurs through proper research and analysis. By examining repertoire through historical, theoretical, and executional lenses, a performer gains insight into the deep meaning and context of a composition. Careful study of a composer and his or her canon of works also affects comprehension and performance.

An Intelligent Approach To High Impedance Fault Detection, Iniobong Abasi-Obot
International Programs
In this poster, High Impedance Fault (HIF) is detected in Primary Distribution Network (PDN) using an Adaptive-Neuro Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) model. The detection of HIF in PDN is quite challenging because of its characteristic features (low fault current magnitude amongst others) and its delayed or non-detection causes devastating scenarios such as electric shock, wildfire, electrocution, system malfunctioning and power outages. This poster proposes an Intelligent approach in a simulated study. Simulink toolbox in MATLAB software was used to model a typical 33kV distribution network (DN) in Nigeria and accurate detection of HIF in the DN was achieved using fault …

Evaluating Prediction Models Of Creep And Drying Shrinkage Of Self-Consolidating Concrete Containing Supplementary Cementitious Materials/Fillers, Micheal Asaad, George Morcous
Evaluating Prediction Models Of Creep And Drying Shrinkage Of Self-Consolidating Concrete Containing Supplementary Cementitious Materials/Fillers, Micheal Asaad, George Morcous
Durham School of Architectural Engineering and Construction: Faculty Publications
Supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) and fillers play an important role in enhancing the mechanical properties and durability of concrete. SCMs and fillers are commonly used in self-consolidating concrete (SCC) mixtures to also enhance their rheological properties. However, these additives could have significant effects on the viscoelastic properties of concrete. Existing models for predicting creep and drying shrinkage of concrete do not consider the effect of SCM/filler on the predicted values. This study evaluates existing creep and drying shrinkage models, including AASHTO LRFD, ACI209, CEB-FIP MC90-99, B3, and GL2000, for SCC mixtures with different SCMs/fillers. Forty SCC mixtures were proportioned for …
